I do appreciate SNK's willingness to include music from their old games without extra cost. It reminds me of when in Smash Ultimate, for Terry's inclusion, Sakurai (lead on Smash) had sent a list of 50 songs he wanted for the KOF stage. He thought he was going to get like maybe 10 or 20 songs approved. SNK just said "Okay!" to all of them, and the KOF stage has all 50 songs, the most songs of any Smash Bros stage in the game (a game well known for having an absurd amount of video game OST already). Not only just KOF or Fatal Fury, but songs from other SNK titles like Metal Slug and even Psycho Soldier, the first video game OST to feature vocals. It's a great showcase of SNK history.
The best part of SNK's music tracks in Smash Ultimate was the fact that a lot of them were new remixes of some of their most famous tunes and even some obscure ones
I actually hopped on the SMK train back with 14 while I was in college. Caught up on my SNK homework and now I'm extremely hyped this series is back 🔥🔥😊

One thing I REALLY want them to stick with hard is when they were saying they are focusing on how they are trying to deal with a lot of the hanging plot threads in MotW. Given it takes place 2 years after the OG Garou, I do not want them to leave out a bunch of MotW characters-PLEASE make sure the initial cast gets into the base 22. (I know its 17 at first, but I'll take in that 22.) It would suck to hear them talk about filling all those cliffhangers in and then shove 3-4 of the MotW cast in S2 or something. (For a new player, this might not matter as much, but for an oldhead who's been following, man I am praying hard.)
I'm looking forward to the game and I will definitely play it but not really sure if I'll stick with it. Fatal Fury original characters just don't speak to me as much as the KoF originals, but I'm sure I'll find someone. Preechka and Marco probably interest me the most of the announced characters
GAROU COTW was epic. Wanted to try to dive deeper in Feints and Braking at SNK EVO booth, got into everything else. In short, REV actions contribute to a meter until you OVERHEAT, landing attacks like a Super ACTUALLY cools you off. REV Accel EX >EX>EX then Super so it's a fun balance.
I'm interested but the pricing is really high tbh, they're not allowing any discounts so unlike Bamco or Capcom games you have to pay the full steam price instead of the ~40 bucks. And we know the reputation of SNK games on launch...
I'm super excited for this game. I have always been a big SNK fan, but mostly only local multi player and single player. I'm hoping that online feels good in the new one.
The trailer got me hyped for the package, but they shattered all expectations for fucked-up regional pricings on Steam for Brazil. It's currently the most expensive new game on Steam, despite being $60 instead of $70 abroad. Like, it's 50% more expensive than Wukong right now. I might still get it, but I'll wait until release to see if there's a community for it (and if online play works this time).
The RPG mode is a giant step in the right direction for this franchise. I would love nothing more than to explore South Town in its entirety as Kyo Kusanagi or even Terry. Make my dream come true SNK! 🙏
NA price is fine, but the international prices in some places are unreasonable high, I’m from Brazil and I’m not gonna pay the price they are asking me to pay
Fatal Fury City of the wolves shatters my expectations with Spectacular graphics and gameplay Cannot wait for it next year this looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING
it was so confused about the game price it took me a while to realise the special edition is the standard. and in places like the uk it like £47. and we get dlc for free. this might be the best offer.
been seeing people complain about the regional pricing but I checked and it's 40 dollars for the special edition with season pass 1 on steam in my region (middle east) which is about right for a 60 dollar release in the US and Europe. Must be other specific regions like brazil or argentina maybe? if so, that's unfortunate. maybe the Saudis only care about the middle east region lol
Gave up samsho in a couple of months cause of the terrible netcode. Then dropped kof 15 after like 6 months cause of the matchmaking. Ima wait till i know 100% wverythong works and then maybe get it on sale one day.
I know this won't matter to most people as it is too late, but SamSho has an amazing netcode now. I live in the US and I've played someone from EU and the connection was buttery smooth. SamSho is one of my favorite fighters, so it is nice playing that game again. SNK is doing great so far. The fact they are going back to making RPGs is amazing. Can't wait for them.
I always turn crossplay off. Sorry to the 2 Xbox players who need it to find matches but fuck dealing with PC players who run scripts. However nobody plays SNK games so crossplay might actually be a good thing here to keep these games active.
From a new fighting game player... they definitely have been showing me all the right things. I'll be checking this out for sure... but ima wait for word of mouth on the connection before i pick it up lol. Also what Street fighter character is gonna cross over with Garou? If it's Luke i'll be right at home lmao
At first I thought the title was pessimistic at first with all the great news coming out but yeah to be fair SNK does have rough releases and scramble patching and adding stuff later.
I am interested! I always bounce off of every snk game, longest one I stuck with was the new samsho. But this one looks really cool, hopefully I get the feel for it.
I like how concentrated this is, it feels like there's more world building and attention to the characters. KoF has lots of cool characters, but there's a lot of bloat, and it doesn't feel like they're good at juggling that many. The 3v3 doesn't really appeal to me, while I like learning multiple characters, I really don't want to have to mentally switch between 3 different characters in a fight. These mechanics seem more interesting than just having a bunch of cancels to memorize for multiple characters. If this game takes off, I kinda want to see them implement the KoF characters that I like but in this game's mechanics.
I actually pre-ordered this one. Music's great, the gameplay looks solid and those who have had their hands on it tend to agree, it's got a lot of variety and if matchmaking ends up broken, there's a single player mode too, so... Might as well buy a fighting game full price, for a change.
Rest assured...the official boxart will have a misaligned button on someone's shirt and that'll be enough for folks to not pick it up lol But seriously...glad you made a video on this. I'm totally gassed for this. Been such a loooong wait. But we all know SNK has to literally create the most perfect masterpiece to even be considered decent to most of the FGC. I mean look at SF6...people were picking it apart for the music and boxart of all things. There will easily be 50 things wrong with this game and they'll all be blamed for why it doesnt succeed. That's where ill come in and buy 10 copies though. 😶
I think this game is the culmination of all of the past issues from the previous games SNK has put out. 14 had the issue of its visuals, samsho with the lobby system breaking, 15 not having crossplay initially and the netcode being wonk for some time and eventually getting rectified but by then was too late. COTW looks great, has flashy combos, is 1 v1 and has an assortment of modes and goodies from what we can tell. Now as far as the online and lobbies goes its all wait and see but given how well the SVC port is, and i know its svc but that port got more features than 15, it gives me confidence for this game. Already I see a difference in the marketing from 15 and as well as the reception of everyone. Hopefully this game is what shows them learning their lesson.
I hope people will be there when everything will be working just fine and it's not just all talk. These people are running out of excuses at this point.
I was not aware that KoFXV on Steam launch was problematic. That is very concerning since I'll be playing this on Steam (already pre-ordered, in fact). Not that I was planning to switch to COTW from SF6, but I really wanted COTW to be a secondary after SS2019 died (on Steam anyway). The latter is why we _need_ a beta. They introduced rollback netcode for SS2019 on Steam and it was rather poor. Matches would start out okay and then the performance would degrade over time until you restarted the game. That combined with the fact that the Steam version is a Discord fighter made me abandon the game after 3 weeks (for the record, I had played SS2019 on PS4 when it was new and at various intervals; I migrated to Steam in 2023 and got SS2019 again to play it alongside SF6, but the online state was disappointing). So SNK _needs_ a beta for COTW to test out their rollback implementation and, ideally, their crossplay. Both need to be flawless out the gate, or else this will sadly end up being another Discord SNK fighter.
As a SF player that's hyped up and wanted to "prepare", I've tried getting into KOF14, 15, 13 (PC with poor netcode) and even SamSho 2019. I'm now just playing KOF & Garou on Fightcade because every single one of those were miserable.
Samsho VSP is best Samsho game. It's on fightcade, try that one out. The character balance is not the best but the mechanics are really cool and unique, you have insane movement compared to 2019 and there is a meditation mechanic that allows you to bank your rage gauge. It means certain characters can play more defensive or aggressive and still be effective, and gives you something to do with gauge besides wait for rage. Also, on a potential final round, you can stop time and Issin or choose instead to rage explode. It's rad, check it out. Man, it's too bad KoF13 Rollback edition was so Cursed, I was looking forward to that. Haven't tried SVC Chaos online yet.
I hated all the KOF since impact was released and stood away from those series, garou is definitely the superior SNK title game that has the best mechanic system also looking forward to this game. I will definitely enjoy entering tournaments once again or even stream on my twitch channel again
I am worried that this game will have no DLC costumes later on. SNK does not like giving their characters random and different costumes. They'll give you the nostalgia costume but they will never have a game that ran for 4 years where terry has 6 costumes. by then. Come on SNK,you have the ball so dont drop it.
Jiyuna made me realize that SamSho was the last SNK game that I purchased, and oh my god the wound that he opened reminding me how SNK did that game DIRTY.
I've historically hated SNK fighters, the only exceptions being SamSho 2 and Garou. I had no idea they had so much trouble with their recent games on launch, but this is probably the first and last time I'll be excited about an SNK announcement for a long time, so I hope things go well.
Curiously, otoh, I always hated almost all Capcom fighting games but SF2 and PowerStone 1. I've played all Crapcom fighting games and they are utterly freaking 100000% dinosaur shit for me, specially CxSnk 1,Pro and the hideous 2, since Crapcom in person deeply messed up something that I really care about it (and Yes, I hated SvC TC as well, even if a handicaped bankrupcy SNK achieved to made some Crapcom characters to have the best sprites ever, like Demitri, Dhalsim, Guile and some others, still the game is garbage).
I'm still hype for it gonna get it day 1 like literally buy it on release I'm so glad we getting a new fatal fury after the Garou Mark Of The Wolves City of The Wolves looks hella promising and gonna play the shit out of it too can't wait
Doesn't hurt to be cautiously optimistic. I never had any issues with the netcode with KOFXV on release outside the occasional desync, but I did hear stories from others. Guess I just got lucky. It was the MATCHMAKING that was abysmal for me. And they didn't fix it until AFTER they implemented crossplay which was almost a FULL year later. SamSho has implemented rollback netcode and it's STILL unplayable for me. KOFXIV is delay based and feels better than SamSho. By a lot! I really do hope that they're done with their mistakes so Fatal Fury can thrive the way it deserves to.
I played fatal fury a lot when I was a kid but I can't go back to the lanes thing. However Garou is really fun, too bad I only found out about when it was rereleased again a few years ago lol
I've wanted to get back into KoF for so long but every time there is a new game they screw it up. Last time it was not being able to bind certain keys on my keyboard that made me refund KOFXV. Then, when they fixed it, it was right after the Terry costume DLC wasn't free anymore so I refused to buy the game again after that slap in the face. But I'll give them another shot, if only because Terry was such a big part in the Mugen days of my youth.
Do you mean the Matchmaking? I know SNK has a rough history with that. I remember experiencing TONS of lag in KOF 2002 UM netplay on Steam. The Rock Howard bit was funny! 😂
They got to stop thinking they can take their audience for granted. The market is flooded with Fighting games that are improving the qol and features department and everyone has more or less found their game of choice. They’ll have little incentive to move away unless something pops. SNK should stop testing their existing audiences patience and only trying to “settle” or be “good enough”. Instead try to stand out and offer something your competitors aren’t. Take SF6 it’s getting Terry and he looks amazing. Better than he has in any other 3d game. The SF6 player might just settle for SF6 Terry instead of going to his home series because he finds him cooler looking in the game he’s already playing. That’s what SNK got to solve. Give that sf6 Ken players/soon-to-be Terry player a reason to take notice of your title. Free season pass and color edit are a good start.
I want to like SNK, but they always mess up in some way. KOF15's matchmaking didn't work at all for me. The lobby search was busted as well due to the same issue. No idea if the crossplay update 12+ months later fixed it, since I stopped caring at that point. Barely even played 10 matches and the ones I played had nasty rollback even with a good connection. I'll give Fatal Fury a try on PC, but I'll instantly refund it if I run into any technical issues.
Every SNK Fighting Game must have a fatal flaw. If they don't botch the matchmaking this time, I think the next thing to go wrong will be the anti-cheat. I doubt SNK is prepared for cheating, because they've never had a ranked mode that got high enough user traffic to motivate cheaters.
Agreed. Been a longtime KOF fan and SNK fighting games are my favorite but good god, they are terrible at handling their product. I hate playing KOF15 online.

Haven't played an fg seriously in years, but I plan on putting time in this one when it comes out
The RPG mode is a giant step in the right direction for this franchise. I would love nothing more than to explore South Town in its entirety as Kyo Kusanagi or even Terry. Make my dream come true SNK! 🙏
Heard they are making a SamSho RPG as well
NA price is fine, but the international prices in some places are unreasonable high, I’m from Brazil and I’m not gonna pay the price they are asking me to pay
Not againnnnn
Fatal Fury City of the wolves shatters my expectations with Spectacular graphics and gameplay
Cannot wait for it next year this looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING
it was so confused about the game price it took me a while to realise the special edition is the standard. and in places like the uk it like £47. and we get dlc for free. this might be the best offer.
been seeing people complain about the regional pricing but I checked and it's 40 dollars for the special edition with season pass 1 on steam in my region (middle east) which is about right for a 60 dollar release in the US and Europe.
Only having to learn one character is much less intimidating.
They need to add more casual/single player content on their games.
That RPG mode thing and the color customization are a step on the right direction.
Former Samsho player here, game looks awesome, but I’m scared
Never play any fatal Fury or snk game before but im FUCKING DYING TO PLAY THIS GAME. really hype for it
They need to do an online beta on all platforms. The online being a disaster on day 1 like UNI2 was will damage the game's reputation out the gate.
I actually pre-ordered this one. Music's great, the gameplay looks solid and those who have had their hands on it tend to agree, it's got a lot of variety and if matchmaking ends up broken, there's a single player mode too, so... Might as well buy a fighting game full price, for a change.
Rest assured...the official boxart will have a misaligned button on someone's shirt and that'll be enough for folks to not pick it up lol
But seriously...glad you made a video on this. 😶
Commenting on every video before Arakune BBCF combo trials.
This game looks cool, but I dont think its for me.
This is the chosen one!
I hope people will be there when everything will be working just fine and it's not just all talk.
These people are running out of excuses at this point.
I just hope SNK will make cotw a sight to behold and a game people will never get tired from playing it
I was not aware that KoFXV on Steam launch was problematic.
Biggest fumble if they launch poorly. Also considering its KoF 30th anniversary
Thank you for saving SNK (checks notes....) again!
Hola amigo, todo va a estar bien con el juego ya verás.
I've actually bought the game for 40 dls. I don't why is that, maybe it's a regional pricing thing.
I hated all the KOF since impact was released and stood away from those series, garou is definitely the superior SNK title game that has the best mechanic system also looking forward to this game. I will definitely enjoy entering tournaments once again or even stream on my twitch channel again
I have no experience with SNK games at all but CotW be looking mad good and I will prob get it if people are really liking it on release :)
We're all awaiting Geese's return to complete the dead fighting game villains coming back to life trifecta
He’ll be back
I am worried that this game will have no DLC costumes later on. SNK does not like giving their characters random and different costumes. They'll give you the nostalgia costume but they will never have a game that ran for 4 years where terry has 6 costumes. by then. Come on SNK,you have the ball so dont drop it.
I do love DLC costumes.
Jiyuna made me realize that SamSho was the last SNK game that I purchased, and oh my god the wound that he opened reminding me how SNK did that game DIRTY.
It was such a cool game… 😢
Un placer oír de nuevo a nuestro hermano Junior.
First.
"Me llamo Jiyuna".
Jiyuna as you are in Japan please can you investigate more information regarding the SamSho RPG advertised recently
I just saw the news yesterday
Its SNK, they will 100% screw it up.
I played fatal fury a lot when I was a kid but I can't go back to the lanes thing. However Garou is really fun, too bad I only found out about when it was rereleased again a few years ago lol
The single player map reminds me of career mode in old gran turismo games
Loved GT2 as a kid
Apparently the May classic outfit is just for her hidden gear... If that's the price for having a good launch I'll sadly accept it
I've wanted to get back into KoF for so long but every time there is a new game they screw it up.
Yes, the netcode/matchmaking
Hopefully its not overburdened with so many systems and mechanics
It is quite a lot on paper.
Gracias don Jiyuna, le tengo toda la fe por esta vez a SNK. Espero que no sea un desastre.
De nada senor
After this game pops off and does amazingly well, Persona 5 Arena will be announced
best FG of the year 2025 IF snk doesn't snk
i have high hopes for this game
Yep, it’s a super competitive market and many people don’t want to switch games. Gotta put out something amazing.
Yeah they do not have a good track record in recent years
Their region pricing is ass at the moment. Which is a shame cuz everything looks perfect
I hate playing KOF15 online.
exactly as you said they are amazing games but they drop the ball
They need the network test so that they can iron out issues before they make it to the full game
