@@sheriwells9860 what was the point of your comment lol. This helped me understand the song better 🤷♂🤷♂
One of the best off the album
I see a lot of people talking down LIT but I’ve listened to both a large number of times and I appreciate the sound from both LIT and LIGHT. I think it’s just because people have different tastes so they think one is superior to the other, but they both sound gorgeous to my ears and I’m pretty happy they experimented and tried to change up the way LIT sounded compared to this one. : )
It’s fine to appreciate music the way it is, besides sometimes different music styles have something in common, making them linear, but a little independent. 🤙🤘
This is my 6 y/o son current favourite song from Polyphia next to Playing God. This is his recent every morning music request in the car on our way to his school!:)
Aww. That’s nice! Not sure if he’s heard of a band called Chon. I highly recommend it, it’s like poliphia. I’d recommend watching their AudioTree session to appreciate their musicianship.
This is far superior to the remix version.
i can dance to the remix better
Kushagra Yadav That's exactly what he did. He didn't judge it based on smell did he, dipshit?
@@pandecoco2245 bro 😂💀
@Kushagra Yadav Stop being toxic. Seriously. It's not cool

You're hilarious!
this song makes me feel like i can achieve anything
Yay ! Me too ! Then I tried to play it, now I think my life is worthless and I'm the worst guitarist ever.

This is literally metal weather channel music.

yup these is definitely similar to a weather channel background music but a metal one..

this fucking comment
This is the best than LIT. Kudos to the drummer!
ran outta tissue... came about 87 times
+Iisthatrandomguy Did you use it as the cream in your Sweet Tea?
+Iisthatrandomguy Or, if Memory serves, was it Champagne?
+Left Hand omg that'll be a Nightmare to do so!! Even James Franco wouldnt do it, not even my Crush
Was it the color of Ivory? Wow, you must have been in paradise.
+StarlitMorning The X. Nah i guess its just a Culture Shock for me. Although, Florence wouldn't mind some Light Champagne
Just discovered your music recently, and it's easily becoming my fav.

When you get musically fooled by the intro because you think it's going to be in 7/8 but it's not
First thing that happened to me haha. Spooky phrasing.
Right?!?!? Lol messed me up
BRO IKR LMAO
Jokes on you, I have no sense of rhythm to get fooled in the first place 🤙
I counted 7/9 ? Am I getting it wrong ?
Are we sure this isn't an anime opening?
It looks like an anime opening, but it doesn't look like it
The intro is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard..
This song makes me feel warm inside. I don't know why, something about it seems so happy.
Ace song of the album.
The best weather channel song out there
So much whammy love in this song.
Have you heard Paradise by them?
One of the best songs without hesitation I've heard in recent times.
I never thought that prog metal would go so well with a pop-ish beat! Not a combination I would have thought up, but they make it work and I dig it :)
Leprous is also a great band that managed to do so :3
Tim reversed a Ariana Grande vocal track in this actually. That's how I got here tbh, these guys are musical geniuses!
@@TamSixx666what song is that then?
This souds just like an anime intro
An anime about a sexually predatory octopus: Octogroper.
You didnt say it couldn't be about that
ikr
The Guitarist also looks like an anime character. Hehe
It makes me feel free
why aren't the lyrics in the description??
Translucidus I know, right? The lyrics are the best part of the song... I wanna sing along!
It’s ridiculous how talented these guys are 😭👏👏😭
And now they have their techno remix of this song "LIT"
and it is disgracefully bad.
techno? lol
"LIT" is not bad ..
but it's far from being as good as the original "Light".. this one is just awesome
It's not techno lmao
It's Electronica
And it fits perfectly
Actually I think it is pretty good
what a tune.
Light of hand
The song, Light by Polyphia, a melodic djent band, is a great example of how classical music theory can be used to analyze any type of music. The song starts off with a variation of the main melody or a motive. This motive is ended then thrown directly into a key change with a change of the rhythmic dictation as well. The song continues with one of two of the main melodic ideas in the piece till the lead guitar comes in and is another variation of the past sub-phrase. These two sub-phrases being in the same key and using the same chord to display one whole idea, creates a phrase. Once the main melody is played through, the musical sentence, or period, ends abruptly and is put into a soft, atmospheric color. A hefty bassline comes through the ambiance and is the only independent variable while the lead guitar dictates when the rest of the instruments come in as they all play in sync. The main period or chorus of the piece is played again then this time the lead guitar is allowed to play through the ambiance and stretches out the chord from the last verse of the piece with an arpeggio, maintaining a soft, quiet atmosphere. The chorus is played a few times through again and the piece ends.
For a second I thought I dozed off while trying to read your comment.. sorry man. Haha.
Also, by labelling Polyphia as _"Djent"_; it's kind of insulting to those heavier bands with a flair of originality to their sound. A lot of the key elements used by _"Djent"_ bands' that set their music apart from the mundane are missing in Polyphia's songs -
Manipulation of time through the use of Alternating Meters, Polymeters, and Rhythmic Displacement... dissonant riffs influenced by Death- or Math- bands... low tunings! These are the missing elements that readily come to mind.
I think I get what you're referencing; the quiet palm-muting often heard in the background of their music set to half-time rhythms - but you can borrow a single playing technique without becoming defined by it.
EDIT: On second thoughts, wasn't Polyphia's old music heavier?? Perhaps that's what you're referencing..?? it's been a few years since they played in that style though - so naturally, as I'm not a fan, I forgot about that. I guess it's fair to label their early music as _"Melodic Djent"_. That label certainly doesn't fit any more though...
Peace
You're good man I submitted this for my theory essay lol
It's my first year and thought I'd combine my two favorite loves metal and theory
Pete Guajardo Not trying to sound like a douche here, but I found your comment quite interesting but however I do not believe there is a variation in the rhythmic dictation of light, it is pretty consistent throughout the song. Also how is the bass an independent variable? I didn't know that I was taking a chem class. haha sorry just made me lol cause I took a theory class about a year ago, have a nice day.
Haha. Wow, you used my comment in your school homework?? Did it pass?
Peace
This song saved me when I was totally drowned, in some many different ocasions, it was a real light at the end of the tunnel of my existence... Thank you!
Light’s opening is better, but I like how lit used it as it’s outro as well. If only we could hear it for more then 18 seconds in this one
this sounds like something out of dbz dokkan battle
I don’t know why but this whole song sounds like the credits theme for some specter of torment type game
At 1.25 speed it almost sounds like an anime intro lmao
Just discovered you guys and haven't loved a new artist as much since I discovered snarky puppy. Awesome stuff.

Kingdom Hearts meets Killswitch Engage
Wow, when did this band get so good? This album totally changed my opinion of them!
Apparently there is an Ariana Grande sample In here that’s reversed.. anyone know which part?
I've been trying to figure it out too, any ideas.? i think it's the angelic-like synth behind the chorus. My best guess lol
This would perfectly fit in Civ III modern age music, same vibe.
I listen to this album when I fly travelling, it'll always have a special place in me.
Perfecto para un opening de anime
this video has less veiws than it deserves

Eargasms for days!! Thanks Polyphia!
The main hook * always sounded familiar to me but could never put my finger on it... Finally did. It reminds me of the "Thanks for the memories" chorus by Fallout Boy. Same melody!
* the part that repeats twice at 0:21, 0:30, 1:29, 1:38, 3:06 and 3:15
You mean Thanks for the Memories by Fallout Boy?? 😆
@@Xunnenth lol, yes indeed. Brain slip!
But I played music before I said my first word.
Hey guys, I'm beginner guitarist. I have a question regarding the tone of the song. Which settings do I need to use to achieve this sound, I now that there are two guitars laying in parallel, however my guitar still sounds just like a guitar. I would like to get some advices!
Can’t decide which takes the crown. Light or Euphoria.
well done there again I love ur music from Algeria.
just discovered this and holy fuck lol
funk yea this is sexual fav song off the new album thus far!
Love this tune!!!
El tono del principio es hace dar nostalgia a cuando jugaba el guitar hero :)
i like the raw drums on this one the remix "lit" drums sound pathetic to me
Prashanna Gautam yes yes yesss agreee
its mixed like actual electronic music. I actually super dig it, its kind of a really awesome embrace of their obvious interest in beats and rap/ hip hop type stuff. Its pretty cool imo. Actiually, probably the song Im most interested in them for, thus far in their career
Arguing the Human ikr. its a nice blend
there's really nothing "raw" here.
I think what he means is highly processed in the way he likes lol
This should get a Drum & Bass remix

FINALLY
Absolute blast of a song to play on guitar for any guitarists out there! :)
Better than lit and much better audio quality :))
trill
What is Polyphia's technique called that is giving off that flutter , or purr effect?
+Christian Camacho If you're talking about the thing at like 00:39 then I've seen bands make that sound by sort of tapping the tremolo bar on a floyd rose bridge and letting it spring back making that crazy fluttery noise. How Polyphia does it, I'm not sure, that's just how I've seen a similar affect done by bands like Rings of Saturn, etc.
Cool, thanks
