@Dramatic Chromatics Some of it, not all of it. The bass tone is great on the riffs that are doubling with guitar but the extra bass grooves and pops etc are amazing. I guess you've never written bass for a track before lol
@@maykoluche1151 to be fair I have only heard chon twice including their feature on this album and their own music was definitely better. Maybe you could recommend some of their music that might change my mind. I definitely belive my mind can be changed because I love plini and polyphia and pretty much every djazz/djent/shred prog jazz fusion musical magic band and CHON keeps popping up as one of those I should like.
@caprice.t haha. It's funny seeing this comment now. I got a lot deeper into math rock since then. Chon is actually one of my favourite bands nowadays. At this point I love all the string skipping octave jumping upbeat major/lydian shred bands with an emo tinge in syncopated and odd rythms lol.
I just wanted to comment that the solo on this track is fucking orgasmic. It oozes emotion and i feel the guitar gently weeping. Thank you to Polyphia for this masterpiece
0:38 That hook almost reminds me of a more grown up and developed version of the hook from Light/Lit, like the song sort of developed a third time in its life.
don't forget to wash your hands before every meal and also to check both sides before crossing any street... It's not related but is also important lol
Theres plenty of great underground music in general. Mainstream music just relys on trends, even rappers like denzel curry can outperform most rock and especially rap lol because he, just like polyphia and other underrated artists that are actually unique and interesting
Anyone bothered by the boomer bend comment ought to really listen to this stuff. It's not like Tim doesn't throw down some silky smooth bluesy feel when the time feels right. I just discovered Tim and Polyphia because of a GOAT TH-cam short that blew my mind. This band is taking the most fresh approach to guitar oriented music that I have heard in a very, long time.
That sinuous, ethereal lead guitar passage that runs between the 2:11 and the 2.51-minute marks will go down in music history as one of the most spectacular displays of super melodic rock-n'roll guitar mastery ever recorded.
WOW. I MEAN WOW. When several points of light come together to become one shinning star in the heavens, the world is graced by its light. thank you, hands down my fav. so far.
The gritty and compressed clean tones on this album sound really processed but also really nice. That and the music (and awesome guitar solo in this song) keep me coming back to this album. It has this weird gothic rnb flavor that is really neat
all they need to feature now is Plini, Owane, Jakub Zytecki, Tosin Abasi, Angel Vivaldi, Wes Hauch, Sims Cashion, Jeff Loomis, & Brandon Ewing and they'll have pretty much every modern guitar god in their catalogue.
Anyone else recognize the harmonic hook he plays a few times throughout? It’s been driving me nuts. I feel like it’s a TV theme song from the 80’s or 90’s
scared me, It seemed as I listened to the others there wouldn't be any whammy fluttering, but then nasty and drown had them and I decided Polyphia is still my favorite band
Hands down this is by far the most intoxicating musical masterpiece ever crafted by Tim Henson and his fellow fretboard alchemist magicians. If you aren't rocking out in your chair like a right looney while this soaring music is on, kindly check your vital signs, take two of these and call me in the morning.
Everyone is mentioning collaborating with different (similar) artists, but what if they collaborated with some of the guys that inspired them but weren’t a part of this new wave of music? Guthrie Govan, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriana, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, etc... I mean the up and coming prog bands were all inspired by these “Guitar Gods” and their “super group” bands... Don’t get me wrong, what the new prog “djent” (which is basically a form of prog, admit it) bands are doing is totally new. They are definitely pioneering a new genre of music that hasn’t been explored yet. BUT, they were inspired by the technically proficient musicians of the past, and it would be super cool if they worked with them.
Clay Gober killed this album. Bass is sick on every song.
So fucking true, unsung hero of the album for sure. The rhythm section is bumpin' as fuck.
Yeah the Latin feel injected into the rhythm section just makes it groove so damn hard
@Dramatic Chromatics Some of it, not all of it. The bass tone is great on the riffs that are doubling with guitar but the extra bass grooves and pops etc are amazing. I guess you've never written bass for a track before lol
@Dramatic Chromatics The chorus is the only time he mimics the guitar in this entire song and it's still a different part... "js"
