You videos have been been very useful in learning about our water softener system and getting it back up and running. We purchased our house in 2016 which came with an AQUAPRO 5000 SXT and AQUATAP SQC 5000 already installed. The previous owners had them installed on 12/21/2009. It wasn’t being maintained when we bought the house and we haven’t either. By not being maintained, what I mean is that salt wasn’t/isn’t being used in the brine tank/salt reservoir and no maintenance was/is being completed. The two valves on top of the mineral tank/resin tank are open sending the water coming in from the main thru the mineral tank/resin tank and has been since we bought the house.
Our water is hard. After washing our vehicles, any remain standing water that is left to evaporate on the vehicle leaves behind a mineral deposit. I’d like to put the system back into full service to eliminate our hard water. I’m concerned that the resin beads inside the mineral tank/resin tank are no longer any good after so many years without any salt being put into the brine tank/salt reservoir and no maintenance being completed. Online resources suggest that, to retore the system to be “like new”, to pour water mixed with Super Iron Out into the brine well inside the brine tank/salt reservoir and trigger a regeneration/recharge cycle to clean the resin beads.
What do you recommend for restoring the system to working order? Contacting Aquakleen Authorized Service Corp., the sales person recommended they service the system for $618. A service manager emailed me and provided a different recommendation: The most important aspect about your system is that water is flowing properly through it. When the resin bed in the system is fouled, the tell tell sign is that water flow will diminish or completely stop. The Iron Out product you mention would be appropriate if the water source has a high iron content. We don’t use that product very much because most of our customers have water provided by the city where iron is not an issue. We normally use a product called Res-up which is formulated to clean a resin bed and improve its performance. What I would recommend if you want to put your system back in service is to add a Res-up feeder and put some Res-up into the feeder, add salt to the brine tank and set the system to regenerate every night for 4-5 consecutive days. This will allow the resin to be regenerated and eliminate any debris or accumulated contaminants. If the control valve is working properly, after those regenerations you should be able to feel the water softer. It is important to mention that one thing that may happen with resin that hasn’t been maintained properly is that after it starts softening again, it may become fouled and you may notice the pressure drop, like I mentioned before. If this were to happen, putting the system on bypass would allow the water pressure to return and it would be an indication that the resin bed needs to be replaced.
@@water_estore Thanks for the response. After two consecutive days of completing a regeneration cycle, our water turned yellow. Googling indicates that the softener resin is fouled. Thoughts? Should probably pay the $618 and have the company come out and service the system huh?
Well, thanks for the video. Installed a new whirlpool water softener and facing err 1 since beginning. Kindly share your suggestion what would've gone wrong.
Whirlpool water softeners are basically disposable, if something goes wrong you typically get it replaced under warranty or get a new one. But this video might help th-cam.com/video/VMnX5bAFi0Y/w-d-xo.html
I have a gxrsh40v softner. The blue light is blinking. But when you press mode button. Nothing happens. You can scroll pressing the up arrow. But I get no arrow pointing left to the change the setting. Confused to why this is happening. My dad did forget to add the salt before it got low. Is this the issue?
I don't know. These water softeners are basically disposable so unless the answer is in the manual or you can get something from the 1-800 number you are out of luck. But running out of salt would not have caused this as far as I can tell.
Hi Gary and John, Do you have any tips for a sudden deluge of water coming out the bypass valve? Thankfully I was in the basement when it happened and was able to close the valve fairly quickly. It would have been a huge disaster. I have the bypass closed and unit unplugged currently. Not sure what to do next. Thank you for your time and thoughts! 😊
Never heard of this happening before. If the bypass is defective I would just replace it, we have them here waterestore.com/products/clack-ws1-bypass-v3006
Not verty familiar with the Fleck 5600. Assuming that it is metered, increase the hardness settings by 10%, give it a month or so and see if that helps.
I have gone from 11 actual North Texas water # to 26 with no noticeable difference. Will do the res restore a couple times to see if that revives the media
You're a good man Gary . Much appreciated . Did you say your store was in Midland . My grandfather is in Victoria harbour . My family is from there I went to Midland secondary when it was still open
Im having an issue with my water softener. It is a Clack and I dont think its pulling water from the brine tank. I have manually cycled it though each cycle, and at every stage it is putting water INTO the brink tank. I did check and there is water coming out of the outlet during the backwash stage, but it is putting water into the brine tank as well during that stage. What could be wrong? Thank you in advance.
Hi guys, I have a Water boss 700 softener and for the last few months I noticed my salt levels haven't gone down, and sure enough it hasn't been regenerating. I tried trouble shooting with the manual , took out the flow sensor and tested it with a magnet and it works, but when water is running it doesn't read anything. What could be wrong here, and what should I investigate next? any help appreciated
For sure it is not bypassed? Then either it’s the circuit board or the turbine, we have the circuit boards here waterestore.com/products/waterboss-computer-control-assembly-700-900-950
I had a 3m softener that is exactly a clack ws1 42 liter softener, it’s connected to the sump motor from where the water goes to the overhead tank, the water is well water, the flow of the water is 25per min as there is a uf membrane before the softener. I noticed that a few tiny particles of resin inside my overhead tank every now and then, 3M replaced the screen filter and resin, still it was happening so replaced with a brand new softener and same issue in this as well, is it normal for a little bit of resin to leak out ? Please help me
@@water_estore thanks for the reply Garry, so do you mean the leak happens only once or eventually it can leak little by little during use or regeneration.
Varies widely between makes, models and size. Kind of like asking about gas mileage on cars. Anywhere from 13 gallons to old technology (but still sold today) very inefficeint ones that use over 100 gallons of water.
@@water_estore Hello Gary, I have a brand new system all Clack Air over Media Iron filter plus Softener. I did a small calculation for my softener based on flow rates I see from my metered Iron Remover. I figure I use approximately 100 gallons during the softeners full cycle. Would you consider this new Clack WS1 to be inefficient?
I don't like them, so no. Too difficult to service, so it's impossible to service yourself or find someone local to do it for you. I have serviced them in the past but parts availability and the difficulties made me stop.

What if I need longer tubing for my Hum water saver 75 can I substitute it with something from a local hardware store like Lowes?
Yes, you can. It uses standard 3/8" and 1/4" tubing.

Quick question, I started to see gray / dark discolored water in my toilets, is that due to a specific water softner issue?
I don't think so, do you have a carbon filter to remove chlorine from your water? If so, that could cause grey water.
What setting can i adjust to increase the softness of the water, Fleck 5600 n 48K system.

The drain line could be clogged, that is the most likely reason. Other then that, this video might help. th-cam.com/users/liveLr3jyGiJdC0

Yes, you can get a little bit during backwash especially when new, but if you are getting more than a couple of tablespoons full it is too much.

Typically just a few times when new.

Why do my pipes sound like air is in them only when my water softener regenerates?
If you mean when it starts up going to drain, that's normal
Why is my water cloudy but soft after regeneration?
If you pour your cloudy water into a glass and it clears after a short time from the bottom of the glass and up, it is just air.
I should say the water in the brine well where the float is housed
It depends on your source water. If your source water has iron, tannins or manganese there will be some color.
Why does my water smell so bad lately?
You might have sulphur. You should have it tested to find out.
