I'm surprised you haven't reviewed him before. Genius on guitar. You would love the live version of "Funky Tonight" at the Arias with Keith Urban. He also did an amazing version of "From Little Things Big Things Grow" with Missy Higgins & Dan Sultan. One of his drummers Michael Barker and bassist Shannon Birchall were incredible too.
John Butler is in a class of his own! His music is unique even as a mixture of other styles. Another artist born elsewhere (US) that we Aussies call our own!
John Butler was born on April 1, 1975 in Torrance, California, to an Australian father and American mother. He moved to the small Western Australian town of Pinjarra in January 1986, when he was eleven. Butler began playing guitar at the age of sixteen, and by 1996 started his career as a busker in Fremantle, Western Australia. The John Butler Trio was formed in 1998 when Butler was joined by Gavin Shoesmith on bass and Jason McGann on drums, and by the end of that year had recorded their debut album John Butler. in Australia, and have had eight Top 40 singles. Having developed a great reputation as a live act, the band have also released three live albums. Peace out.
John Butler and the John Butler Trio are world famous, you must have clicked on an not very well known channel, his wife also sings, her name is Mama Kin
I got to see them live many many many years ago at the Tamworth country music festival and fell in love with them more after seeing them live. They have some amazing songs 🎵
Saw these fellas as a support act for Powderfinger & they had just released this song. Man… did we jam out that night. This band proves that funk doesn’t recognise colour… you’ve either got it or you don’t. So glad you enjoy the songlines of Australia & connect with them so much. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 🤙🏽
Thanks so much John is fire on guitar and such a groove to see live. Seen him many times always a blast. So glad you enjoyed it he has so many great tracks wasn’t sure which to pick. He’s a local West Aussie which is why you haven’t heard of him tho many guitar enthusiasts have. thanks again for the reaction ❤
FINALLY...you did some JBT, they/John is amazing and very talented. I hope you do some more reactions to them. Songs like Media, Peaches and Cream, Coffee methadone and cigarettes are fantastic.
Born in California to an Australian father and American mother. Moved to Australia at the age of 11 and still has a noticeble American accent to this very day at the age of 47.
They are awesome live and they started out busking and doing blues festivals. Although they don't get much exposure on mainstream radio but have a loyal fan base following on you tube and live.
Gotta check out Used To Get High For A Living, Funky Tonight and one of the best instrumental songs ever: Ocean. He’s a phenomenal guitarist and all their songs are so good
I dunno if anyone said this but he’s sound is achieved but using the normal acoustic pickup and additionally to this he has and electric pickup in the guitar these are wired independently and he has two cables running from the guitar to two different amps. At least that’s how I remember him telling it
He plays an 11 string guitar (modified 12 string), not sure if that is what he is playing here. They were huge in the early 2000’s when I was at uni (aging myself!) so any of his songs just give me such good vibes.
The title of the song "Zebra" is derived from the idea of a Zebra asking itself is it black with white stripes or white with black stripes, hence the words in the lyrics "I could be ..."
Enjoyed his work. See him around town regularly. it’s a shame his personality inclines you to ignore his talent. Enjoyed your reaction just the same. The song is definitely a bop.
I agree. He's a self-righteous wanker. If he'd focused on his talent, he'd be fine. Saw him at Big Day Out in 2007. He stopped a 30 minute set to rant for 10 mins about his politics. Almost everyone in my section of the crowd just wanted him to shut up and give us what we'd paid for, some amazing music...
John Butler Trio have been hugely successful, like a lot of artists that made it in the early 2000s the TH-cam presence wasn't there so that doesn't reflect in the views/followers.
Could you look into the copyright thing, literally EVERY reviewer acknowledges the copyright rules by pausing it and making the commentary, without having to lower the opacity of the video. PLEASE. It’s very hard to enjoy what you cannot see.
Try some music by YES one of the greatest progressive rock groups of all time and my favorite band. You haven't reacted to them at all. They have many long songs that are masterpieces. Not your usual music. Some good ones include "Roundabout", "Close to the Edge", "The Gates of Delirium". "Awaken", "Turn of the Century"... Loads of good ones.
i don’t mean to be rude but i’ve noticed a lot of talented singers have similar teeth structure to you (protrusion) , does this somehow play a part or cause an effect on the sound of someone’s voice?
Zebra= don't be black or white, create your own stripes. follow your own curve. He's from USA originally and moved to Australia Perth when he was in his early teens.
Hey man I'm still waiting on a couple PayPal requests from about march If you could please react to them? The songs I requested were :Robery cover by drapht triple j :Angus and Julia Stone for you
John Butler is talented. However, he is also allegedly very self-centred. I don't know. Never met the guy. But I do like his music. It can get a bit repetitive with respect to rhythm across many of his tracks. EDIT: Having said that, I have had all of his albums over the years.
And Yes. I've never stopped thinking that the the john butler Trio is incredibly underrated
Never get tired of hearing this song! 💕
Butler is magic on that guitar
He is to the guitar what Harry Butler was to the Aussie bush. Bloody marvellous!
He plays just about anything with strings. Saw them live a few times and he shreds it up in incredible solos every song. Amazing.
John butler is amazing american born perth raised shout out used to busk in Fremantle incredible u got to hear more
Shout out to this band who formed in Fremantle, Western Australia back in the 1990’s. Great groove. 🎉
As Buskers, no less!!

Every time I think of that little Mary Poppins improv in the middle of that ARIAs performance, I laugh! Top-shelf jam
Just brilliant ❤
Such good times, watching this band.
Definitely need to react to more of John Butler, he is a legendary songwriter. 👍👍
Love John Butler. Seen him many times in many countries around the World. Seeing him again this weekend.
This song just bought back memories.. haven’t heard it in years!! What a song!
John Butler is in a class of his own! His music is unique even as a mixture of other styles. Another artist born elsewhere (US) that we Aussies call our own!
1m views of his Ocean acoustic clip. Worth watching.
One of the greatest guitar performances ever
2012 studio version now has almost 60M views. Amazing talent, loved the busking years in Freo and Mojos gigs.

Peaches and Cream probably my favorite.

He just plays music but it's just amazing..

Many of his songs have million views, very popular singer, songwriter. Zebra always a favourite.
Their song Better Man is awesome too!
The live version with the extended drum solo especially!

Their "Like A Version" performance of Pharrell's "Happy" is worth a listen. 😉

In other words:"It's closed. Unless you send me big money and in that case its open again baby!" 🤣

His daughter Banjo Lucia's first song is a piece of art.
Enjoyed his work. See him around town regularly. it’s a shame his personality inclines you to ignore his talent. Enjoyed your reaction just the same. The song is definitely a bop.
What does that mean?
nuthin wrong with his personality.

Knew you’d be into this :)
Please react to silverchair Emotion Sickness live in Sao Paulo 2003.
A12 string acoustic with double electric pick-ups and liberal foot pedal effects will produce surprising effects.
You want to see guitar wizardry listen to ocean by John butler also betterman is great song
YES!!!!! I requested ages ago you to react to them doing a cover of HAPPY by Pharrell, please react to that my friend!!!!!
