    This series is SO IMPORTANT, my friends. Even if constipation doesn't impact you, I'll bet you a trillion $$ that it's an issue for someone you care about. Today's installment is Part One of a 4-part series. I hope you find it helpful!

    The longest I’ve ever gone without a poop was 11 days. I was in tremendous pain and anxiety. I didn’t know about how to take care of my self. Now, I eat more beans deliberately, the fiber really helps me. Yoga is great, I am a fan of rapid breath of fire. That always helps. This is a great video. Keep up the good work.

      I regularly go 3-4 weeks without a bowel movement. My dad and son have the same problems as well; I guess it's hereditary.

    Thank you so much Dr. Bri. This video helps me a lot. I found that I was pooping with wrong muscle contractions throughout my life. I am now 33 yrs old. I am currently suffering incomplete bowel movement. But as soon as I tried your technique, my incomplete sense disappeared and I felt more relaxed. I really appreciate that you are helping many patients like me. Have a good one.

    Just wanted to say thank-you for this channel. Turns out i'd been getting terrible advice in the words of "more keagals , more keagals, try weights while you exercise to" for last 10 years. I was to embarrassed to push the conversations further with doctors. Your channel gave me some better questions for me to ask myself and for new doctors and i have just started Pelvic PT. Turns out my whole floor is to tight and uncoordinated. I really wish this was more openly known and discussed at a younger age. So thank-you!

    Dr. Bri!!! I think you are very wise to be open and address this is issue. Unfortunately, the people who are going to be turned off by it are the ones who need it the most. This is a very good video and I realized by the way I have a squatty potty in one bathroom and a stool in the other because they seriously both work about the same but, what I realized is that my bottom actually does not fit up on the commode seat very well and I need a smaller seat with a smaller hole!!!! It is very uncomfortable to sit here for a long period of time with out my leg starting to go numb!! I may actually try to get a toddler seat to put in there. Is that crazy or what? Thank you for doing this series. I know it is going to help soooooo many people.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YES, Dawn - I know, it's such a bummer about what you said -- that the people who are going to be turned off may be the ones who need it most! But like ALL of my work, I just hope that I can "plant a seed" that perhaps they can come back to when they're ready...

    • @MangoMr9

      FemFusion Fitness I know. I was one of the people who did not have a problem with it. I was in total denial. I really believe if I had been more honest with the muscle strength tester I had started seeing a year ago.....my prolapse would not have happened.

  • @HarrietFitzgerald580
    @HarrietFitzgerald580 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thank you for this!! I was constipated most of my life, followed by horrible episodes of IBS, so basically no bowel movements for 1-2 weeks and then massive diarrhea for a week before my period and a week on my period. This went on for years and years, finally week vegan and had regular daily bowel movements for the first time in my life! While pregnant constipation returns, postpartum first time around my gut swing back pretty good and I went back to having regular bowel movements, this time around not so much. One month postpartum and having to take lax a day every day and even then am having difficulty with my bowels. I'll have one every second day or so. Which brings me to my next issue, prolapse! Remember how I'd been diagnosed with my bladder prolapse get last year? Well I just saw another physiotherapist today and she did a much better external and internal exam than the first one I'd seen during my pregnancy. She examined me laying, but I know my prolapse had been apparent whilst laying because I checked myself the other day, she asked me to bear down and saw nothing. She then did a rectal exam, again asking me to bear down, she assessed that I have a rectal prolapse! 😱😳 Which would make sense, considering my history, but I am shocked! How could 2 doctors, a gynaecologist and a physiotherapist tell me it was my bladder, without even doing a proper full internal and external exam and then now discovering it is most likely my rectum?! I'm at a loss. Have you ever experienced this with patients, where they got one diagnosis, but you found it was something different? Or like the physio said today, perhaps it was my bladder and that's resolved and it's now my rectum, but I highly doubt it. Also just wondering if it is rectal, since nothing is protruding out of my anus? Is it rather my small intestine? Dunno, so Confused! She basically inserted her finger in my anus, asked me to bear down and told me she could push into my vaginal wall, creating a bulge.

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, unfortunately, it can be difficult to assess prolapse!!! I'm so sorry you feel like you've been getting the runaround... I wish I could chime in more, but I don't feel comfortable since you are seeing providers and since I cannot examine you myself. Wishing you so much luck...

    Seriously, EVERYONE should be educated on this and all pelvic health. Along with proper diet. Physical therapists, nutritionists, etc. should be as "normal" as regularly seeing a dentist. No wonder so many people suffer with health issues. This kind of info should be the first stop for people, especially for preventative measures.

    It is so hard to believe that we live in a society of people who actually believe it is the norm to ignore bowel habits and put everything before it. I mean you can only roll the dice so long until it finally catches up with you. Maybe you could do a video on explaining how the normal digestion process works and how have undigested food in the small and large intestines and what actually happens.... just the amount of stress alone it puts on the body then you have all those toxins infiltrating to the blood and rest of the body.... wow what a visual I am actually creeping my self out. Then there is parasites!!!

    first of all THANK YOU for all the information , lessons and care you provide in your channel :)

    • @vibrantpelvichealth
      @vibrantpelvichealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Najola1988! I think you must weight the pros and the cons. Ultimately, carrying excess weight can worsen prolapse, and reducing your weight (in a safe, healthy way) will make you feel more energetic and healthier overall. Abdominal fat, in particular, is problematic as it's linked to chronic health conditions that can even reduce your lifespan. Personally, I think it's worth the risk of seeing the theory you mentioned come to pass (i.e. the theory that abdominal fat is supporting your pelvic organs). I have actually never heard that theory, and do not think it's valid. But even it if is, is it worth holding onto the extra weight so as not to "test it?" I recommend slowly increasing your activity level by walking more, eating clean/unprocessed foods and drinking plenty of water, and starting my free "Lift" series. You can learn more about it and sign up here: femfusionfitness.com/lift-pelvic-organ-support/ After signing up, you'll receive 1 email per week for 5 weeks. Each weekly email will link you to the instructional video for that week, and a handout with a summary of the exercises and lifestyle tips (so that you don't have to re-watch the video every day). You might also benefit from using a pessary, but this is something you'd need to talk to your doctor about! Good luck!

    Dr. 2 suggestions about your videos (esp. bc of your chosen TH-cam channel name that specifies "fem": 1) that you consistently mention if these pointers apply to people with male/female genitalia & 2) that you specifically note if a technique for elimination has/doesn't require variations for people with different body types (i.e. muscular, thinner, heavier, folks with internal scarring from surgeries perhaps, etc).

      Oh no. I recommend contacting your healthcare provider for personalized advice. In the meantime, you might want to monitor your fiber intake !

    A very interesting and informative video! I know many people feel awkward talking about pooping but it really is important. I learned something new today, that some people really don't poop but once a week! That's amazing! You would think their abdomen would hurt all the time!! Going to check out your second video next.

      @@navelfan I wish I did go once a week! I don't go for 3-4 weeks and that's normal for me.
