  • Did you know that Mahindra is about to release their latest PikUp Ute? What if I told you it will come in at half the price of a Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux and Isuzu D-Max?
Indian manufacturer Mahindra has recently teased us with their Global Pik Up (aka Global PickUp) ute / truck / bakkie - the Mahindra PikUp. Built in South Africa, this ute promises to provided MUCH of the offroad prowess from the Mahindra Scorpio-N - being based on that 4x4 SUV - while also towing 3.5 tonnes, having a 1 tonne payload and SO MUCH MORE! Today I am going to tell you everything you need to know about the all-new Mahindra Global Pik Up!

They are lucky to buy a Mahindra company car in Australia 🇦🇺 at the price they are getting, because it is a matter of luck to get a reliable car with that amount of power and features at that price. And Mahendra cars are reliable enough. Car engines are reliable and reliable.

But I do say they are becoming impressive. At a price point. Being old school I don't mind the Scorpio due lack of electronic safety devices on board. I would accept the Scorpio and next family capable SUV. But people who like there gadgets will probably put there money to the big 3. At the end of the day the more electrical gadgets the more can go wrong. I still think that if you're looking for touring vehicle the less gadgets the better the last thing you need is one of those safety gadgets failing when you're in the middle of nowhere.

Cannons are pretty unreliable but not in the normal sense im in a bunch of gwm cannon groups and every week there is several posts about how someone's vehicle has been towed away for the 7th time or gone into limp mode because of a dpf fail not to mention the cannons dpf burn system is weird an annoying and I've heard that gwm's customer service with warranties is terrible but I'm not 100% sure on that I've only heard that

I don’t think Mahindra will offer front diff lockers. Maybe if enough people demand it, and it reaches mahindras ears, then definitely they will offer front diff lockers. But solely from mahindras point of view front diff lockers are not necessary, as its main competitors like hilux doesn’t have it either.

I have a Scorpio Z8, this vehicle is a really a Love/Hate relationship with me. Done 10,000 kilometres including towing a camper for 1500 km.
The Apple CarPlay issue has been fixed in a update, ours was done 2 months ago.
The safety features never was a consideration for me when purchasing, for a lot of Australians it isn’t as well.
The steering, suspension, engine, gearbox all work brilliantly together, it is a very tight car, no rattles or bangs from suspension on rough roads, fuel economy when towing is great, just love driving it.
But the things that would be so easy to fix, the interior packaging just sucks, the centre console looks big but you are lucky to fit a mobile phone in it, the single cup holder?? Door pockets that are useless, the inside door handles, when opening the only hand holder is close to the hinge, it’s easy for wind to grab hold of it or the door getting away from you in a tight car park, just a very bad design.
The Stop/start feature just sucks, need to turn it off for safety reasons, it is laggy and can take a few seconds to restart and a few seconds is the difference between life and death.
The third row seat takes up a huge amount of room, why did Mahindra not design it to fold into the floor like the XUV700 or even the older XUV500?
We had a 2009 Subaru Forester before, the inside would be a very similar size but Subaru interior storage was superior, the way the rear seat folded flat and gave a huge flat space for moving bulky items, doors, very useful cabin storage, all this missing on the Mahindra Scorpio.
I hope Mahindra really listen to all the complaints about the Scorpio and add some retrofit items to fix the above issues.

The let down is the power of that diesel which still put as more of a farm truck. They really need to upgrade that engine. I'm all for the pick-up even the older model shape. Very impressive for a ute as compared to the big names. Also the let down is the amount of dealerships in Australia currently in all the states. Servicing will be a night mate as you will have to travel to get it serviced at a dealership.

If production model resembles this prototype, it will sell irrespective of output, just wait, watch & see.

Yep def a test confirms aspects of the vehicle. And whether you could be comfortable and happy before you purchase. The best way is to talk to diesel mechanic to find out what reliability issues that can come if any. Just like any other vehicle or brand and how they treat their customers on a warranty and recall point of view.

Loading area on these modern vehicles is unpractical and cause a lot of irritations, to high, always struggle to get things loaded and ofload

This model looks like a duplicate of the toyota hilux. Mahindras scorpio pikup has its own unique look.
Come on Doston, who made this bewakhoof decision? Go back to the drawing board and include that iconic scorpio look, before it is too late.
Indian companies are getting terrible advice from their body designers. Recently that design of Harley bike produced by Hero company is one typical example. All the lundays in India were waiting for a bike with a classic Harley cruiser look. But the bewakhoof made it look like a hero bike with a harley logo.
Hero and Mahindra, take my advice. Decades down the line you will find that this is the best free advice ever.
