Compliments to your presentation style. The combination of still frames, chunking, and diagraming, makes it all so much more easier to absorb. High five to you.
Tristar Gym Great vid Firas! I have a question about gloves, do you think someone who weighs 160 should use 14 or 16 oz gloves for "free" sparring (not trying to finish, but hard punches)? I really prefer the lighter gloves, but i don't want to be a dick to my sparring partners and wear the wrong gloves
Faris is so detailed in his teachings and provides so much attention,I have learnt so much from his postings, thank you Coach, much respect and admiration #oss
Everytime I saw a video from Tristar gym appears in my subscription , it fills me with glee. So much detail ,so amazing. Bless this channel .Keep up the good work .
God this is good stuff, I have been trying to get the heel hook out of mount instead of just guard or rolling because that gives me the opportunity to get on top or at least stand up and get out of there, but a had a couple of questions in my head, especially the situation where he was high on your chest, and you just answered all of them, you the real MVP Firas
wish I had found your channel earlier... purple belt in JJ from Brazil! Congratulations on your amazing teaching and insights! youre very, very good man!!
Firas, you are the best coach ever! You're such a natural teacher and you explain things so well. The details are incredible. Thank you so much for these videos
Hi there from Darwin Australia, just want to say thank you very much for your well explained well presented vids...much appreciated and more power to you!
I appreciate the videos. Very good teaching style, and the pen writing on screen is helpful, too! I started training 2 months ago. I'm still getting smashed a bunch, but I am learning. Thank you.
As someone with no BJJ experience yet is interested in understanding MMA, I have to say this is an amazing presentation. I can understand every concept shown! Practicing it is a whole new ball game, but now I have at least a much greater appreciation when watching ground situations in MMA fighting.
Man I only get on youtube these days hoping for another one of your videos. The videos are perfect - my game is improving in leaps and bounds. THANK YOU!
Firas this is so awesome, i am loving your videos and the detailed explanations and real life situations are truly the best ive seen on youtube, please keep sharing, im here in Los Angeles and will watch every one over and over. thank you.
Love your videos Mr. Zahabi if you could please do some guard passing videos at some point I would be very appreciative also some wrestling would be great as well. Please and thank you.
this is awesome thank you! i'm going to try this in my next roll! i don't know any leg locks so i'll probably just take guard but this escape makes a lot of sense.
FightBack96 update, i tried it and it worked great! there's so much elevation, it's really easy to get your leg out when you elevate properly. the frame is hard to get though because guys keep pushing and pulling your hands off their hips. they really fight you to get it off. i pushed out to butterfly guard by shrimping and got a sweep. i'm really new to jiujitsu so this was really cool for me!
+FightBack96 thats great to hear and Im happy your finding success with this move. If you opponent is fighting your frame with his hands I suggest you give him a little but explosive bump, when you but it will disturb his balance and he will be forced to base or at least realize his grip which will give you time to establish you frame.
Tristar Gym alright, i'll try that. hey thanks for responding to my comment btw. i know getting out of mount is usually not gonna be pretty and i'm gonna get tapped a lot in training, but i think if i can get good at 2 or 3 go-to escapes, i can be alright when i get mounted and maybe not get tapped so much. same for the back.
very good very cool stuff and appreciated. especially because, we are high level guys but prefer to work at our own gym we have instead of the curriculum of the traditional bjj schools. so we develop and or research our stuff on our own a lot so this type of thoughts and sharing is a big deal. hopefully i can make a few vids of our best A level stuff we developed and pass it onto you guys. you'd surely dig some of it. thanks
sgvxdave I do a lot of seminars but havent gotten an invite for south California yet. If any school out there wants to do a seminar just email tristargymcanada@gmail.com
Hey Firas, would you be able to make a striking video soon on some handy techniques we could use when dealing with someone that uses their distance really effectively; not only due to their reach but smart footwork as well that makes it hard to touch them? Thanks for these mini master-class videos by the way, they're awesome!
At 4:24, what stops a person from sliding their right knee up and getting S mount? Is your frame enough? When I've tried this, I just get S mounted by good guys. I'm sure I'm missing something.
isnt your back exposed at 5:08 ?? isnt that bridge a bit risky? it looks better in 8:24 but would it work the same when your oponent mounts and stays closer to you?
Awesome video Firas, would you consider posting links to the street fight videos in the description or at the end of the video? Thanks for the great info
hello Firas, thanks for the Video I used this technic after I watched your video. but a lot of times my back got taken as soon as I tried the high bridge . how can I prevent that ?
That was fantastic. Thank you. QUESTION - At 8.45, where you tuck your head in, so that your opponents head butts will be far less effective, what would you do if he started punching you in the back of the head with his right hand?
I wish Firas has some online collection of similar game plan scenario-based videos covering most of the aspects of key positions in BJJ. I am ready to buy. Can someone let me know if there is any other this channel? This is so good with added commentary and repetition. Just love it.
Wonderful. Mount has been the bane on my Jits. And poor escape. This vid clearly explains the minor details so well. Thank you thank you. Can't wait to try. Q. Coach can you show how to straight ankle lock from standing?
Michael Andreula I use both the following methods. When I roll with someone with less experience I try and use no power. It is very difficult to roll this way and you have to be sure to cut you partner of before they get to far with any move. Its a great way to roll with the less experienced. When I roll with my upper belts or pros I roll hard and try not to think and just let my body react. Lastly I also very much like doing situation sparring. AKA king of the mat type sparring.
i absolutely love your videos and try to use as much of your techniques as possible. one thing i noticed with this type of escape is when i try it most experienced guys will just transition into the triple threat position on top (put their heel near my hip and slide their knee up, and behind my shoulder), which makes me revert back to the upa and wind up in their guard. is there a way around this? thanks.
Excelent video. I always struggle when the top guy attaches his feet to my thighs... I find that to be a real struggle to do anything except give my back then try to secape that.
Compliments to your presentation style.
The combination of still frames, chunking, and diagraming, makes it all so much more easier to absorb. High five to you.
Amen to universal jiu jitsu.
Its the only BJJ I trust ; )
Tristar Gym Great vid Firas! I have a question about gloves, do you think someone who weighs 160 should use 14 or 16 oz gloves for "free" sparring (not trying to finish, but hard punches)? I really prefer the lighter gloves, but i don't want to be a dick to my sparring partners and wear the wrong gloves
Hawkifyed Ask your gym what they use. Firaz might tell you 14 oz, but if your gym uses 16 oz you will look like a dick regardless. Just saying :)
Hawkifyed I think you should go with 16 oz we usually only allow the 135 and under the use of 14 oz. Safety first.
evadesc still too new to know what you mean but i can only agree!
You absolutely have the best method of teaching jiu jitsu, thank you for all this incredible content!
I just cant get enough from this channel. I really appreciate the time you put in making these videos.
This is the sort of excellent and detailed description that we need for bjj. That's why you guys build champions.
It's an honor to have you post, thank you for the universal approach!
Also, I love the breakdown, pausing & drawing approach.
Respect and gratitude!
Faris is so detailed in his teachings and provides so much attention,I have learnt so much from his postings, thank you Coach, much respect and admiration #oss
Usually I don’t bother with videos longer than 6 minutes but this was worth every second
Thank you for the step by step break down, it's great how you pause the clips and pin point the spaces created from shrimping.
This is awesome ,I love that you're actually taking time to answer questions on a you tube channel. Shows a true love for the sport.
Everytime I saw a video from Tristar gym appears in my subscription , it fills me with glee. So much detail ,so amazing. Bless this channel .Keep up the good work .
kingoftheworld1993 thanks for the support! this channel will just get better! thank you!
Nice explanation, slow, repetitious and easy. Thank you Firas.

U still learning? Just curious ☺

Cough cough ......rear naked
Cough cough.... Show me your RNC while mounted
The trick is to create a flesh tunnel!
@@LuTimesTwo **80 inch reach Ezekiel choke from bottom mount has entered the chat**

Coach Zahabi are you planning any seminars in Southern California anytime soon(L.A area)?
sgvxdave I do a lot of seminars but havent gotten an invite for south California yet. If any school out there wants to do a seminar just email tristargymcanada@gmail.com
Hi guys! Am I not vulnerable to arm bar when creating the frame that you showed at 2:34? TIA.
Thank you so much Zahabi. Just Beast!
Great video. Thank you for posting. I hope you continue to post more videos on here. While we support you through Super Chat and Patreon
Awesome as usual, thank you for helping me getting less and less choked during training haha

Hi Firas, any concerns for lower belts with how you end up wrapping his leg with your foot over the hip to be dq'ed? Ex: at 11:58
Great video Firas!
good vídeo exelente thank you very much from argentina
Ótima saída professor
beautiful!! im using this (bate them to mount) in training tonight to perfect it, thanks again .. OSSSSSU!!

Wonderful. Mount has been the bane on my Jits. And poor escape. This vid clearly explains the minor details so well. Thank you thank you. Can't wait to try. Q. Coach can you show how to straight ankle lock from standing?
Hi Firas Do you have any way of escaping from face down rear mount without giving up anything, I'm judo guy learning jits.
Coach, What is your mindset when you're rolling. Are you in the "zone" or are you mapping out moves?
Michael Andreula I use both the following methods. When I roll with someone with less experience I try and use no power. It is very difficult to roll this way and you have to be sure to cut you partner of before they get to far with any move. Its a great way to roll with the less experienced. Tristar Gym Powerful Coach! These videos are very valuable - thank you for your time.
Good day Mr Firas, do you know of any good BJJ schools in South Africa, Durban? I would really like to learn BJJ
Wow, awesome video coach z😃
Question - which video editing software is used here for real-time demonstration purposes?
i absolutely love your videos and try to use as much of your techniques as possible. one thing i noticed with this type of escape is when i try it most experienced guys will just transition into the triple threat position on top (put their heel near my hip and slide their knee up, and behind my shoulder), which makes me revert back to the upa and wind up in their guard. is there a way around this? thanks.
