@@coreykelley2807 Absolutely. He could grab the wrong head coaching position and fall flat on his face. It has to be the right time and place. He's not unhappy being the OC of the Lions. Detroit loves him. He's like everyone else in the organization. Bought in. He wouldn't be there in the first place if he wasn't a culture guy. I think he'd like to see the work he's put in reach further before moving on.

"I wanted to enjoy the sun a while longer". Yet another thing I have never heard uttered by the Lions before. You can say whatever you want about the "culture" thing, but if it exists, the Lions have found it. There is something happening in Detroit, and I am a fan who is happy I lived to see it.

Ben still needs to grow, he needs to ride it out for at least 3 years and win a Super bowl with the Lions!!! If he wants to be a head coach he first needs to be a OC and hold the assistant head coach position at the same time for 2 years to learn what it takes!!! Not only am I ecstatic and forever grateful for the Lions being who they are with guys like Ben Johnson leading the way, I'm also PROUD as hell to root for such incredibly grounded, good dudes who don't accept bad vibes and are in it for each other. When they talk about what they are building being "special" - this is what they're talking about. This entire franchise is in lockstep. A million miles away from the nearest bad vibe. Just wait and see what they do - this is going to get better before it gets worse.

We are truly one of very few lucky teams to have a guy like Ben that loves where he's at, at the OC job. Eventually I feels its inevitable for him to take a HC job but just be thankful we have him people!
Ben Johnson took a shot at the 8 new NFL HCs by saying 5 will be out of a job in 3 years. He's definitely waiting for the right situation and he also loves his job as Lions OC and all the weapons he gets to scheme for

I've been saying for 2 years, maybe he just wants to be an OC. Not everyone wants to be a HC. The personality traits needed for the 2 jobs are very different.

No kidding. I'd like to know if he contributes to some of the defensive plays or works with the defensive coordinator.
As far as a career he is so smart, more longevity in coordinating, once your a coach its hard to go backwards as respect in the room gets odd. Sign him to a long term contract please. I think Ben should stay a a coordinator and get fairly paid as one of the top 3 best in the league.

Kind of said those 8 teams weren't good enough even with many drafting a new QB. Ben was favored for the DC Commanders which has a good new GM from the 49ers. The previous OC was Eric Bieniemy who brought in Andy Reid's playbook and QB Sam Howell did rack up yards last year.
