Yes. Lets be honest though. Goff is not doing it by himself. He has a great group around him. The level of player talent the Lions have is as good as the best teams in the NFL. He has a fantastic coaching staff who can get the most from the players (something the Lions never, ever had before). And he has a great staff who draft well and provide the other things this team needs to win games. This is not the Same Ole Lions. This is not just Jared Goff.
Goff has literally brought life to Michigan, at this point i dont even care if hes actually good or if its just the team, for the first time in my life the people around me have pride in our state team and there's genuine hope and excitement for the NFL season. That shit is priceless to me and I will always love Goff and Campbell for bringing that hope
He also was responsible for a lot of grown people crying. That playoff win had me crying to and I’m not ashamed to admit that. Winning the SB will have me going insane.
Goff was not a good QB for the playbook of the Rams. McVeay's play calling asked Goff to do what he is not good at. When he came to the Lions he was given a strong offensive line that allowed him to stand in the pocket. Then Ben Johnson and Jared worked together to put in plays that fit Jareds skills. The Lions then drafted players that fit the plays they wanted to run. Yeah, it was ugly while they straightened out the Lions system (3-13-1, then 1-6). But when it finally started to come together it was beautiful. Goff was a perfect fit for the new playbook the Lions put together. Good coaching and a quality GM that drafted players for particular needs turned out to be a good match. Who would have thought? It's more than culture with the Lions, its damn good coaching and smart drafting.
I think your analysis of his situation in Detroit is spot on. Really great talent around him and constantly adding to it. I also fully believe in Dan Campbell as a head coach. For me though, its hard to say the Rams weren't a good spot of him either. His first two seasons with McVay he threw for 28 and 32 touchdowns with 7 and 12 interceptions. He definitely had some regression in 2019/2020, but I don't think he was the only reason for the Rams lack of success
Mostly false Goff’s best year was still in 2018 with the rams, he wasn’t bad with the rams it’s the fact oline was bottom 3 for the past 2 seasons which is why he fell off but I mean 99% of qbs would struggle with a bad oline regardless and it wasn’t necessarily Ben Johnson it’s the fact Anthony Lynn was terrible as a offensive coordinator, as soon as Dan Campbell took over the playcall Goff immediately looked way better
People need to call Goff what he is now: A Veteran QB. The dude brought the Rams to a superbowl against BRADY and Beat DREW BREES in the NFCCG and damn near brought Detroit to another superbowl (which I think he will do this year). The dude is going to go to the Hall of Fame before his career is over, mark my words.
Anyone who brings it home for Detroit is going to be a legend. Given the history of Detroit...if you make it in Motown, you are going to be on a different level of fame....you are going to have a statue built of you and forever be idolized...Detroit fans are compassionate of their team. .they take nothing for granted.
It's been over 2 decades since he left but people here still talk about Barry Sanders with reverence. Even though his exit was not without controversy.
Been a lions fan my whole life.....we had Stafford but a terrible front office. We never won anything significant.... Now we got Goff we got two playoff wins a division title and 20 minutes from the Superbowl. Goff is the guy that's gunna bring it home all of Detroit believes in him cuz he's improved every season
My family has had Lions season tickets since 1977! Last season was soooo special. I was at the Rams playoff game and the entire stadium was chanting "JA-RED GOFF JA-RED GOFF" when he came out of the tunnel and then anytime theyd show him on the big screens!! It was awesome and you could just tell he felt the love!
This was a fantastic video man. I truly believe that Goff will not regress like he did in LA after getting this extension. The system he works with fits him a lot more and he is surrounded by an organization who loves him. The most important thing about his contract negotiations was him wanting the no-trade clause! Which means they may restructure the money later.
He not only fits in the system, he is a partial architect of it. He now has people around who took time to understand his strengths, and give him input to formulate a scheme to maximize them.
Goff is a baller. Very accurate passer. I love comebacks and I hope Detroit gets back to the playoffs and win the SB. They have an outstanding OC who makes plays keeping the defenses off balance. Goff seems to shine in the offensive scheme. Dan Campbell knows what it’s like to lose and I’m happy to see him and the lions winning again. Great football team!
You know what as a Lions fan I thought he was going to be short term and bridge when they first got him. I’m glad I was dead wrong and there is no QB I rather have. He has surpassed all of our expectations and the fact he has chants all over makes me happy. QB1 app day everyday 😊

Jared Goff was not a failure when traded to the Lions. He had taken L.A. to the Super Bowl, after all. I think it's pretty clear now Brad Holmes, coming from the Rams, believed in JG's talent, saw he had the right stuff to excel, and wanted him to be his #1 QB in Detroit. The trade that brought him to the Lions was good for both teams but should be seen as the 1st in a series of great moves that have turned the Lions into a serious Super Bowl contender.
I totally agree. I think the media/the fact they won the Super Bowl with Stafford right after the trade made a lot of people believe he was a failure. Also like many QBs once they get paid, the second you have a bad season or two like Goff did, you're going to get a lot of fingers pointed at you.

They got had great offensive line when they felt like doing their job lol.
We had aaron donald, todd gurley, robert woods, cooper kupp, tyler higbee, havenstein, whitworth, robert cooks, hekker and Jared Goff
It was a great team, I remember watching them Obliterate COLTS. The 49ers game was crazy too.
Thats my MFing quaterbacker 😎😭
9:43 "untimely interception to stephon diggs" lol
Come back? This dude never left.
It feels like when they traded Goff for Stafford it was like “Ok, y’all get this superbowl for stafford and then it’s our turn.” And LA was like “Aight say less🤝🏼”😂😂
In Goff We Trust!
