I own one of these for about 3 months now. I've connected an external RX 6700 via one of the free NVME PCIe 3 slots and it runs games with no problems what so ever at high settings. Warzone 2 at 1080p high goes well over 100FPS on average.
I gotta say it. You do an impressive amount of work on these videos. And you hit the nail on the head when you described the use case for these mini pcs. I personally have a minisforum hx99g coming this Friday. I'd prefer to build my own but I'm a father of 3 and simply don't have the time or space. Thank you for the video!
The cat isn't your only friend, you have us. It's a good mini for the plug-n-play crowd no doubt. I'll stick with my ASRock deskmini though. Since you can swap full power desktop APUs, easily overclock the iGPU, and run faster ram.
I actually almost picked up one of these. As I've become a HUGE fan of mini PC's. (especially from Miniforums) But I ended up winning an ROG Strix laptop.

Thanks for the video! I just got their ryzen 9 version and ima see how it does. If I don't like I'll return it on Amazon and maybe look at getting a big pc
i saw this model doing rounds a while ago, but seeing that it has two m.2 slots and so easily accesible means you can add an external gpu without much effort and quintuplicate performance
I think the dial power controller is a really cool feature for noise sensitive people. I'm not going to buy one but that's pretty cool for someone who would.
@@TechDweeb I'm working on customizing an alienware X51 R3 to switch the GTX 970 for a GTX 1070 and a bump up for the storage from a 500GB SSD to perhaps a 4tb I've been looking at on newegg. I'm planning on making it part of my RV remodel project because in RV's power is kind of limited if I want to run AC.
If you combine this computer with the emulating 5 terabyte hard drive you just made a video about it would be an amazing combo mounted behind your living room TV get wireless controller, mouse keyboard. And if you have a powerful gaming computer use steam link to play your favorite PC games at higher resolutions and frame rates on your living room TV.
I know a lot depends on the emulator itself, but it's kind of strange that PS2 emulation worked better for you than the PSP. On my OLD system, I can run any PSP game the emulator supports, at full speed, usually at 2x-4x native resolution. I had to change a couple settings (no frameskip though) for a couple games, but most ran fine with the default settings. With the PS2, most games run slow, even at native resolution, with only a few running at full speed.
Thanks or the review! I plan on using it or games like Bioshock Collection, Fallout 4 and 76, Fortnite, Halo MCC.... does anyone anticipate any issues with those?
LOL... That confounded McAllister report is the worst!!!!! This really surprised me with the emulation performance! This is definitely a great value! I'm actually very tempted and, if I were really strapped for cash, I'd jump on it right away. As it is, I'm very much in the market for one of these but it needs to be able to fully replace my desktop gaming PC from 2018. I don't think this one really comes very close but the size is definitely perfect. I'm going to recommend this to family who wants something running Windows 11. In fact, none of my (many) computers meet the requirements for WIndows 11 (?!) so that's definitely something that this PC has over any of mine...
Im researching this pc, going with a 32gb ram though. I am wondering if it will do world of warcraft retail or classic, I have a feeling classic will be fine at high and maybe tuned down for dungeons and raiding, but probably end up low mid on retail. What do you think? I like the portability of this also, you could actually take your pc with you on a trip if you want to.
I’d love to see more ! Was thinking about this for emulation yo plug in to what ever tv I wanted . Mainly to play ps3/gc /ps2 so if you can make a video on stuff like that would be awesome ! 😊
I don't get 1 thing - why do they handicap that CPU with 2666mhz ram ;s I used 5650U based laptop for "spare gaming" (csgo, world of tanks) for almost 4 months, and i will say that going up with memory to 3200MHz, is a huge upgrade for a iGPU
Actually I just tried swapping the rams this morning. I couldn't get it to run with a 3200 kit. As soon as I set the ram to run at 3200mhz in the bios it wouldn't post. I'm not sure if there is some limitation or something or maybe I'm doing it wrong but as far as I can tell 2666 is the limit for whatever reason :/
