It’s been only recently that I cry after I’m done with my confession. In fact, I was crying silently but hard enough for someone to notice and they asked if they could help in some way. I Thanked her but really started to analyze Why I was crying after confession. I think it’s because I know Jesus died for my Sins to be Forgiven and Loves Me Always and so I’m genuinely Sorry to have disappointed Him And I’m sincerely Grateful to be Forgiven. Perhaps it’s also a sense of Relief! The emotions felt Before and After Confession can be Really Complicated and not so cut and dry, I think. Love and Prayers Always ♥️

Odd choice of words: "...disappointed Him." I DO think however, that coming out of Confession we should absolutely find ourselves ,for lack of a better term, feeling some sense of Relief & Release, yes. Not that we'd dodged some bullet or escaped eternal damnation: I think the venting in itself is as therapeutic & essential for us as the Forgiveness we receive in the sacrament. We shouldn't dwell on some imagined, lingering, self-destructive Guilt being dragged out after, but rather relay that fresh Forgiveness to others in return, in our own daily lives.
Above all, I think is a simple reminder of Prodigal Son/Shepherd leaving His ninety-nine Sheep to go after & search for that single, individual one who is lost. Don't let it Drain you, it's there to Revive you.

Should we not feel bad about our past sins? I have found relief in realizing that I should feel regret and shame over my past sins. This sorrow over past sins is a gift from God, a gift of His infinite love and grace, reminding me to not make these sins again, that I am a miserable sinner, and that I need to be constantly penitent. I now welcome this pain and sorrow because I know it is the Holy Spirit working in my heart, nudging me closer to the Heavenly Kingdom.

Today after confession I didn't understood why I confessed again a sin that was already forgiven. And the Priest said I need to understand if God put my sin behind him and forgave me so should I. So I came home with that question... Why Do I still feel guilty?... And I research and came out with Father Mike's video. And then the answer was here... I feel guilty that I hurt God! But I will not be my own judge. That is my Lord's place. I feel a relief after watching this video. Many blessings!

That's where grace comes. God did not choose us for what we did. He chose because he chose. He chooses while we are still a sinner. Jesus died to cleanse it. So deep in our heart we know this, and accept Jesus deeply. True repentance comes when we go directly to Jesus in our secret room. Lock the door and enter His presence.
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[7] again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”
[12] For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. [13] And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. [14] Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. [15] For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Then our daily life will change. True repentance will come and then the Holy Spirit will speak to us. The rest of what He tells is up to us to listen and to follow.
Read Judges. People of Israel again and again, sin against God but when they repent and call , God always answers. Realised we are confessing to God and remember you are already standing on a ground of victory. We are not condemned just because we fall.
Read Psalm 91 and question yourself what is God's secret place?
When we come to realize that God saved us not because of our sin and action but by His own mercy and love that He sacrificed His own son on the cross to wash away our sins even at the time when we are still unbelievers.
      ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[16] For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
When we understand who Jesus is and what He has done for us, you will always rise because you are not amongst the wicked but amongst the righteous.
Realised we are not righteous by doing good works. But by believing in what Jesus did.
      ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭15:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
[6] Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
So believing what Jesus has done for on the cross has given us a new covenant and Jesus Christ has clothed us by His true righteousness.
      ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64:5‭-‬9‬ ‭NIV‬‬
[5] You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How can we be saved? [6] All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. [7] No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and have given us over to our sins. [8] Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. [9] Do not be angry beyond measure, Lord; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look on us, we pray, for we are all your people.
In this God anger has changed. He gave His son.
Remember our good deeds are just filthy rags to God. So we must realise what truly God has given us on the cross and when we truly accept that, we will realised our sinful deeds has been forgiven. For if we fall we have a high priest in heaven, who is the only mediator who can reconcile us to the Father as there is only one God.
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[5] For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus.
He is also an Intercessor in heaven Himself. So yes we can come directly to Him as he is forever pleading for us in heaven . Roman 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25.
Mediator is one who has authority to fix thing.
Intercessor is one who is pleading and requesting but will not be able to fix things.
Jesus is of both. He can reconcile us and He can plead for us to the Father.
So we are already righteous when we believe in Jesus. The next step is for us to walk in spirit. To separate ourselves from the flesh. To strengthen our spirit we must feed it. Not by just going to church on Sunday but by everyday of our life. We pray in the morning, give God 1-2 hours of our time. We read the Word and put it in our hearts ( Psalm 119:11). (Ezekiel 3:1-3).
Do not give up. Once the spirit is strong by cultivating holy habits, the flesh will sub-side and we will be living the life in spirit.
Most of us as catholic we lack the walk of spirit as we are too much conforming to the world. The scriptures has said do not conform to the world pattern. If we conform we are bound to strengthen the flesh rather than the spirit. ( ROMANS 12:2)
If Catholicism does not teach this, let us teach ourselves that we need to give time to God in our everyday life and we need to store the word of God in our heart. Unless we truly know the identity of Jesus and who God is and unless we loved Him back, we will not know the true way to walk in Spirit and will casually fall into sin. We are all saints called to live separately from the pattern of the world. We are Christ believers so we are definitely different from the world. We do not live as they do.
The more we feed the flesh the more we are likely to sin again and again and ignorance of real truth.
Feed the spirit then things will change and have better understanding. Going to church on Sunday and living the rest of the days like the world pattern will keep us running back to sin.
Taste God in spirit then see the difference. Develop holy habits everyday of our life.
      Shalom .
      Amen.
      I leave with this.
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
[2] Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I try to add a moment or two of reflection that includes gratitude after confessing my sins. Gratitude for the unlimited mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus. I still may need to make restitution, I may still need to recompense someone if possible, but I can do that with joy in my heart that God has forgiven me, wholly, completely and abundantly. But I also need to repent, and so I'm grateful that the Holy Spirit IS working in my heart to change my heart, to renew my mind. Gratitude is a powerful emotion for change. But what are you grateful for? I want to always be grateful for the infinite love and mercy of God.

So good to hear you, Father, dwell on the multiple aspects of repentance and forgiveness …
Sometimes I feel that there’s so much emphasis upon the …
“Confession” and not enough upon our responsibility to live repentantly … striving to rise above or beyond our sin … We need to ask forgiveness of not only our Priesthood Leader and our Heavenly Father … but also actively apologize to those to which we have caused offense…. Then don’t forget to be forgiving of ourselves … then continue on … living in a manner that we choose to not be so obsessed with how we are offended always looking for ways to retaliate … as the present day culture seems to press at us & into us daily …
Reciprocity is an empty game for those who desire to have & feel true peace no matter the circumstances …
He or she who takes offense when offed is NOT intended is a fool … And he or she who takes offense when offense IS intended is an even greater fool…
When you choose to be hurt, angry, offended and also chooses to allow yourself to then dwell upon the offense & the person or persons who indeed caused that offense …
and then choose to act upon the offender(s) in a retaliatory fashion … you have effectively fired God from His role of Administrator Of Justice …
As well as your Administrator Of Forgiveness …
You’ve placed the reigns of your soul into the hands of The Great Deceiver … Satan …
It’s time to dwell more upon those sins & imperfections within yourself … resolve to forfeit your own vices & obsessions while having Faith in your Lord God to handle the offender(s) in the manner He deems most appropriate … and quit insisting that Heavenly Father should be doing things based upon your timeline and upon your personal more worldly expectations…
… Pray diligently for greater patience … Pray for better personal understanding of the offender(s) … Pray to have Our Holy Savior’s version of unconditional Love and Acceptance just as He has Unconditional Love for you …
This doesn’t mean that terrible criminal offenders should not have to face the full extent of the laws of the land and it’s consequences … It does mean … you have not lived nor possess the Imperial Truth k Knowledge & Wisdom of God that He DOES HAVE in order to adjudicate in the the Eternities …
We are here to gain Truth & Knowledge … and to gain Wisdom from experimenting with that Truth & Knowledge in learning most effective and lovingly the most appropriate ways to apply that Truth, Knowledge & Wisdom’s as we trek through mortal imperfection & misery … learning Patience, Kindness, Forgiveness and just how deep and wide Unconditional Love requires us to S T R E T C H ourselves …
Life is forever needing God’s Divine Perspectives and Grace as we endeavor to strengthen our hearts & minds … for finding our limits and then appealing to our Heavenly Father for the Courage & Strength to diligently carry on…
…. Humility … one of the greatest & most powerful concepts we can embrace to help us ever reach outside ourselves … Humility, Forgiveness & Unconditional Love combined … with The Grace Of God may we ever strive to authentically & faithfully incorporate these blessed gifts into our own character …

One reason also why I feel bad after confession is that I feel worried if I forget to say some sins that I am trying bring out but sometimes I fail to remember them. Although there is the intention to bring out to God all my sins, there are some sins that I fail to remember and I did not bring out in the confession

I want forgiveness, but i don't feel like I deserve it. Please, God. Help me find a way out of this. This sin I committed is weighing so heavily on me. I can't even tell you in words. My heart is burning, i have lost appetite, I cant stop crying. GOD, PLEASE help me God please. I didn't think of how much my stupid act will cause me so much trouble. I was sad, lonely and desperate and when the moment of joy came up, instead of being grateful, i allowed the devil into my mind and acted selfishly. It has not onnly affected me but so many others. Please, God, help all of us recover from this selfish mistake. And please give us power to move on from there. Please God, i beg you 🙏😭🙈

I was experiencing the same for months and I finally just went to confession last week after 30 years and experienced nothing short of a miracle. I still am struggling with not feeling worthy of the mercy I was given, but I know logically I can leave my sins with God and trust him. My priest is helping me too come back to the church in the most gentle welcoming way. For the first time ever, I feel loved by God and experience unconditional Iove by him. I realize I’ve never felt loved by anyone like that before. It’s changed my heart. I have peace in my soul for the first time in my life. I feel like a child full of wonder and joy and love and adoration for Jesus’ kindness and mercy. It’s changed how I pray. Not only like HOW I pray but what I’m actually thinking and feeling and even able to experience. I don’t have words for it yet but it’s kind of like I’m more open now and able to receive what was hidden from me… or maybe more accurately what I was hiding from myself by not allowing myself to be forgiven and carrying around mortal sin for 30 years. So much has happened this week I could type all day. I’m changed. I was one way my whole life. I’m forever different now. It’s hard to put to words. But it’s like my story is beginning now and everything else before doesn’t matter. I share this because I hope it helps you feel brave to accept the same mercy Jesus wants for you.
Two things that helped me get brave to go to reconciliation: 1- Father Mikes pocket guide to reconciliation book. Game changer. I got it to remind me what to do but ended up profoundly reflecting on my conscious through sobs while somehow feeling confident I could go to confession. Highly recommend 2- recognizing satan was actually the one whispering in my ear my doubts to keep me away from confession. I was d determined to beat him. So although I went to confession and subbed my eyes out hysterically and felt rather silly. Lol I did it and I feel better and I will pray for you that you can feel better too.

Fr. Schmitz didn’t mention the reason I usually leave confession feeling unsatisfied:
I am forgiven of the sins that I confessed, but I perceive a high likelihood of being tempted again, and committing the very same sin again. Forgiven, but not freed.

I've broke with my gf after a horrible year. I told her after we broke up something terrible I did. She blocked me. I went to church this last tuesday and confessed. The priest was so, so compassionate, he took my confession, never lectured me, and told me to assist mass that day and come back to talk to him afterwards on the sacristy. He asked me to tell him my full life story, and he undesrtood me. He advised me to keep going to therapy and to listen to my therapist, to keep going to church and to keep praying for my ex. I felt relieved that night. Still, I feel like I did something terrible but at the same time I know it won't happen again and also that even though I have not an excuse, what I did was a symptom that the relationship was going pretty bad, my therapist told me so. Now I feel better, still, I will be coming back to church this next week to talk with this awesome priest.
These priests and nuns are true superheros. You guys truly help without expecting anything back. I now understand what Jesus wanted for us. You will always be heros to me. May God bless you all.

When you hurt others, the best thing you can do if you are feeling guilt for what you done is apologize to them. People make mistakes, and whether or not that person forgives them, they can walk away knowing that they tried, and I will guarantee that guilt will be gone. As what our Lord Jesus said, "What you have done to the least of these you done to Me". This also implies wanting to be forgiven by those you hurt and apologizing for what you done to them.

The story of the feathers in the wind comes from Saint Philip of Neri, who told someone in his parish that spread gossip to take a chicken, pluck the feathers and throw them to the ground. When they returned to say they did it, Saint Philip said to go collect the feathers and your sins are forgiven.
