      If you were able to foresee into the future and know exactly who the culprit is and all the secrets then the right thing to do would be a preemptive strike on Palpatine by initiating order 65 to have his plans backfire instead of betraying your soldiers that had no idea such contingency plans existed.

    • @Vagabond671
      @Vagabond671 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Honestly, in the end (and Order 66 aside); I think the Clones would've been justified in their siege of the Jedi Temple. Maybe killing the Jedi would've been extreme but still, the war would have kept going and there was no way of knowing that both sides were being controlled by Palpatine. The Jedi were basically using human clones that were no older than children and losing them by the thousands, if not millions.

    • @Beltims
      @Beltims 4 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      @@Vagabond671 Come on now, that's ridiculous. Biologically they were adults, not children, no matter their actual age. And Separatists were the ones killing them, not the Jedi. What exactly would killing your generals accomplish? Other than causing massive confusion and making it easier for the Separatists to conquer more planets, slaughter their residents, commit war crimes, and kill more clones. Besides, technically the clones belonged to the Galactic Republic, not to the Jedi Order. I mean it's called the "Grand Army of the Republic". So they should have marched to senate and blasted everyone down there. But that still wouldn't have solved anything about the war and the Separatists. Besides, many clones respected the Jedi. After all they fought side by side for years. Without the control chips, there is no way that Order 66 would have worked. If some distant politician ordered the clones to cowardly shoot their commanders in the back, many would have rebelled. There are plenty of examples from real history of soldiers choosing their generals over politicians in a far away city.

    • @Vagabond671
      @Vagabond671 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Beltims "Biologically they were adults, not children, no matter their actual age."
      Adults that were created as property and robbed of their youth. Adults that were sent to die by the millions for a war they had no choice in fighting. Adults that were all identical brothers whose family was created and being exploited to fight a war that they didn't even know why they were fighting.
      "Without the control chips, there is no way that Order 66 would have worked."
      *Except it did work in old canon...*
      "What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word."
      I'd like to think that the Clones of old canon went through with it because they had enough. While there were Clones that respected their Jedi and vice versa, there is more than enough evidence to show that while a handful of Jedi respected Clones (E.g., the Jedi we follow in the Clone Wars series), most Jedi out the 10,000 of them that were alive before Order 66 took place did not agree with the choice to use Clones and treated them as second class citizens.
      While Clones respected many Jedi, one thing people fail to understand is that the Clones valued the Republic more than said respect for the Jedi.
      And yes the Jedi were generals, but if you found them to be incompetent and guilty of treason (even if the claim of treason was fabricated) it really isn't impossible to restructure your command infrastructure if you are only replacing your generals.

    • @Beltims
      @Beltims 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@Vagabond671 @Unlucky Irish None of that is the fault of the Jedi. The clones view themselves like conscripted soldiers who are doing their duty. But if they viewed themselves as slaves, then maybe they should attack their actual owner which is the Republic. They should have attacked the senate and Kamino cloning facilities for your argument to make sense. Why would they value the nation that enslaves them? It's way more likely that they would view the Jedi as their ally in their struggle for freedom, not their enemy. Especially after listening to Yoda, who is the Grandmaster of the entire Order. It's the politicians of the Republic that don't think much of the clones. Why would they choose them over the Jedi? Especially because none of the politicians are in the trenches suffering like the clones and the Jedi do. In the episode "Pursuit of Peace", the Quarren senator Christo when asked about millions of clones dying, says: "Who, the clones? We created them for just that purpose."
      And legends are not canon. I don't think them just blindly following orders made any sense. It robs them of their individuality and turns them into mindless droids who just follow orders simply because Palpatine said so. It's against everything the Umbara arc stands for. I mean in the movie Cody jokes with Obi Wan and then orders to shoot him without any hesitation. How would that make any sense if they didn't have the chips? If the clones really are capable of doing that, then they are pretty much psychopaths without any emotion, regret, or morality.
      And like I said, the Separatists were the ones killing the clones, not the Jedi. Clones suddenly deciding to kill the Jedi wouldn't have improved their status and wouldn't have stopped the war. I think that it would have made things worse for them. Who would want to lead soldiers who are willing to shoot you in the back? Who would trust them? And where's the evidence that "most" Jedi treated them as second class citizens? Pretty much every single Jedi we see in the movies and the show that didn't fall to the dark side, treats them with basic respect. I mean if the Jedi are really meant to be this corrupt and immoral order, then the movies and the show do a very poor job.
      And even if the Jedi were incompetent, shooting them in the back still would have been evil thing to do. Because civilized nations don't do that. They just remove the incompetent leaders. It's the nations like Empire who just shoot everyone they don't like. And even if, just for the sake of argument, even if every single Jedi and the whole order, except the Jedi we see in the movies and this show, were evil, it still would have been immoral and evil to shoot people like Plo Koon or Yoda, who clearly care about the clones. And don't even get me started about shooting younglings.
      There's just no excuse for the clones to willingly commit Order 66. It makes them evil and immoral army, not to mention stupid. And there's no way people like Rex or Fives would have wanted to be part of it.

    • @Vagabond671
      @Vagabond671 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Beltims So after doing some research, I have to admit that I was talking out of my ass when stating that most Jedi considered the Clones to be second class citizens.
      So I apologize for that.
      (Although many Jedi did disagree with the use of Clones as they equated it to slavery)
      As for the question of why not go after the Republic or the Kaminoans instead of the Jedi?
      The Clones we're simply indoctrinated to respect those two groups more than anything else. That's in old canon and new. So when the end of the war was approaching and it was revealed that the Jedi were "treasonous",
      While I do love the (Disney) Clone Wars with the chip explanation, I still think the old canon was far more interesting and thought provoking in terms of why the Clones went through with obeying Order 66. In our own history, and in Nazi Germany during the Second World War; if you asked the veterans of the Wehrmacht and SS why they went through with certain war crimes, many thought they were either doing it for the greater good while others simply complied out of fear and the instinct to survive.
      I feel that if you combined the unique personalities of Clones in New Canon to the Old Canon version of Order 66, it would make for a very interesting story. I'm not saying that it would make for a better story, but for an interesting one at the very least.

    I would presume the Repulic only invades militaristic Separatist planets like Umbra and Genosis and etc. Planets that produce weapons, supply equipment, build ships and supply droids or troops. While the Separatist attack all planets like Ryloth and Christophsis that pose little to no threats. Different doctrines of war for two different sides.

    • @Beltims
      @Beltims 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      In the first episode of the arc the narrator says that Umbara is a strategic system in a vital supply line. And they also have all those super advanced weapons that the Republic probably wouldn't want the Separatists to mass produce.

    • @jean-philippedoyon9904
      @jean-philippedoyon9904 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Ryloth is a middle point in hyperspace lanes between planets belonging to the Separatist alliance and other strategic points and Christophsis is if i remember a economic hub in his sector...So they are strategic target, just in different way !

    • @danzansandeev6033
      @danzansandeev6033 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sam Hp not really. In any war every side try to get control of transport points, supply depots, factories and weapon production. Yes ryloth and kashyyk weren't really advanced and their natives are "primitive", yet both planets were hyperspace junctions, they have good position where many routes intersect. Think of it as railroad junction.

      In war, nobody is spared.
      Why do you think the US dropped atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? they weren't military targets, civilians only... because people at war want to set examples of just how many people they can kill.
      The death star wasn't an exception, it was a continuation.

    • @danzansandeev6033
      @danzansandeev6033 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EclipsisTenebris that is true sure, but during active combat main targets are those that hold military value. by the time atomic bombs were dropped it was battle of attrition, with japan refusing to capitulate. so bombing was made to force surrender, as well as test out new weapon.
      it was by all account a war crime, but since USA was the victor, that isn't considered one.
      civilians get hurt on both sides that is correct. but no general in the right mind is going to attack a civilian settlement instead of airport for example. priorities mate. unless the order is saying otherwise ofc, like to set an example

I feel like in that moment he would have used is numbers. just a small thing lol, doesn't change the story in anyway... Unless... Having being taken down and outsmarted by clones he then sees them as people? OR, he saw his death before it happened and knew it would be dogma? maybe a man of his pride wouldn't be killed by a clone with no name but instead a person with a name? Idk.
