I just did a Dakota Digital dash install. I wanted to keep the original for the nostalgia but it was in pretty rough shape and a reproduction speedometer and new lens would have cost probably 70% of the Dakota Digital setup without all the advantages. And let's be real, even when new, old technology gauges that are back-lit by incandescent bulbs just doesn't cut it today. All things considered, I think I like my Dakota Digital upgrade better than most anything I've done to my car yet. I actually enjoy just sitting in the seat and turning the key on so I can watch it spring to life. Great video by the way!
Ok, you made me go to their website to see if they had one for VW. Yes! 😀 But only for a Bug, not a Thing.🙁🤷♂️ on the bright side, it was fun watching your eyeballs pop out when you turned the key to see your “spaceship bridge” light up! 😃 Glad you’re having such a great time doing and learning!😄
If you have problems with the control box not staying secure with the velcro, try Scotch extreme fasteners. It's like super duty velcro. I've had problems with regular velcro coming loose when hitting bumps in the road.
What A GREAT Upgrade!!! Love The Changing Colors. I Have a 2001 Cadillac However The Dash Looks Like A Green LED Clock " Very Boring " and The Radio Is Just Simple Want To Upgrade To Touch Screen. Plus New Speakers. Love How This Turned Out!!! BRAVO!!!😂😂😂
Thank you so much!! We're actually behind on my blooper videos this month, so we'll have double bloopers coming out soon! Thanks again for your support!!
Really enjoyed, watching you and yer dad, knocking this upgrade out.. Great 👍 team work!!! And that infectious laugh when you powered them up for the first time was priceless!!! You go girl, just subscribe d as well.. Enjoy !!!
This is amazing. I'd like to do something like this to my 65 Impala Wagon and my 68 Chevelle in the future. I'm doing an LS1 swap to my 65. And I'll have access to the LS computer. Want to figure out how to use a Monitor to display gauges and speedometer. I know I could use an OBDlink and some software. But have not done anything. Hopefully by next year. When I have some money saved up I can experiment. Great video.
@@ElliesGarage Boy, there a learning curve there! Patience is the key. Take your time. Remember the whole paint job is 98% prep. Eastwood is a huge help!
When we turn the lights on they definitely go dimmer. I think it may have just been brighter when we were setting them so we could see the colors, or it may have just looked brighter on camera. Not sure, but thanks so much for looking out for me!
I know that Dakota Digital doesn't have one yet, but you might also check in with Holley. They have an entire division called Classic Instruments that has lots of packages, but they can also do custom setups as well. We haven't used them yet, but they look really great. Here the site: www.holley.com/brands/classic_instruments/
Did you have to use the button switch for the setup or can you just use the dakota digital app? I'm putting the RTX in a 1967 chevelle and was just wondering
Okay so first off love your guys videos. My son and I are working on a 1965 ranchero and I have not been able to locate deluxe dash bezels. Any chance you can point us in the right direction on where to find them or any other parts for these gems. The ranchero is missing just about everything. Lol
Thanks so much! Facebook Marketplace is a great place to start, but also the Falcon Club of America's FB page would be a great place to post asking if anyone has bezels for sale.
Yo, I just got a 66 chevelle. It’s a clone ss and has center console with the shifter. My dash has the original gear indicator. Does this dash have a gear indicator or is it deleted? I’d like to have it deleted. Definitely gonna get one of those
Thanks! Of course. See below. It really is one of my favorite things about Carl. It's expensive but really worth it. Part # RTX-64F-FAL-X www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1272/category_id=-1/mode=prod/prd1272.htm
@@ElliesGarage I'm jealous! They had to custom make me an HDX for my 68 Barracuda since they don't normally make it. Next car I decide to buy will be off the RTX list for sure.
Definitely a possibility, and that's why I usually prefer to have my hair back in braids. Keeps it out of the way. We actually got that cup holder when we bought the car, but I would imagine you'd be able to find something very similar online.
No problem at all. The price isn't listed, but the link to the panel is in the description. I believe the price is just under $1300. Thanks for watching all the way from France!!
That's a REALLY good point. We'll be doing more videos this summer adding in other things to the panel, so we'll be sure to check on that and maybe think of other ways to keep it attached. Thanks so much for mentioning that!
@@ElliesGarage So glad I can share my experience with such an unusual circumstance! I used the same Velcro to hold my sun visors up because they would droop too far. They always melted into slippery goo under the hot summer sun and let go after a while (months). And that is on a convertible Falcon that’s able to let go of the heat more so with the top always down.
Dad's fulfilling his role perfectly. Teach, supervise, but don't jump in and do it for her. Good job Dad!
Love seeing the interaction between father and daughter.
That really looks great. I like that it still keeps the original feel.
I keep opening this to jump to 13:13 and watch the beauty of its activation cycle...
Wow! Nice Digital Dash! I share your enthusiasm! Nice Episode. Thank You

i cannot stand the sweep gauge in my 65 Mustang, but I do love this set even despite my aversion to digital. This video has me reconsidering.
Very nice gauge cluster Ellie, I'm loving the build and watching you learn!
Thank you so much!!
Great Vid! Really cool to see father and Daughter wrenching it together.👍🏽👍🏽

I like the dash. It looks stock but is totally modern.
WOW! I want one too! So awesome and looks like an easy installation as well.
Time for Ellie to do a turbo LS swap. Learn Tig welding, problem solving etc. Its a blast, give it a whirl! (sorry dad, go fast parts are not cheap)

I guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Tyler Kieran i would suggest Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Maddox Zain Definitely, been using FlixZone for since march myself :)

Good idea!!

Was setting the speedometer difficult?
Not at all. It's SO easy. You do it right from the app. It's really cool!!
カッコいい🎉 it is a super cool
Are you replacing the temperature sensor that the holley efi came with?
No, we left that one in place. The Dakota Digital one goes in the stock sensor location at the back of the engine

Sadly, he has retired from doing bezel restorations. Really thankful for the work he did, though.
