There should be absolutely no bucketing of motorbikes. Every year there are injuries. Any person seeing such an injury immediately says, yep, not the motorbikes, but then it’s all forgotten. Bucket a motorbike, go to jail.

Yes that's crazy launching buckets of water in ur face especially on a motorcycle 3 times we nearly had an accident.ok in moderation I've had 28 songkran now

Songkran in Khon Kaen was great. The main road was great to bring the family and everyone had a great time. The streets where the bars and clubs are were a bit more rowdy but everyone was having fun and considerate. Pattaya will be avoided in future years. A-holes doing doing all they can to piss people off. My wife had to pull me away from an Indian guy who just a couple of feet away shot me directly in my eyes with his water gun.

Songkran was fun but not as well attended as in previous years. Most people are considerate and gentle with the water. There is a subset who are just plain idiots though, as your video illustrates at the 07:00 mark.
The early middle aged, white, gym rats consistently go for the face. Soi 7+8 had quite a few who fit the profile and behaved in the same manner. The Thais were gentle and playful.
Anyways, thanks for doing a great job recording (and editing) such a fun event.

The water in the face while driving maybe dangerous. But it still looked like fun to me.

I was having a great time till that Indian Foam party! My iPhone 14 pro max and cash was stolen there! They cut the string on my water proof plastic bag! That was a huge bummer! Shit happens! I reported it to the police and I was told many people were reporting their phones stolen! I tracked mine and it’s in a mall in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam 🇻🇳!

Buckets are good for the water company. 😂 Last year I lived on sukhumvit 22, next to the fire department while riding a 1200 cc bike. I knew to just pop it in 2nd or 3rd and cruise treating it like heavy rain. I went to a party at RCA this weekend and it was all buckets. 😩 buckets can be fun and dangerous at the same time. I just think when you go down some of those streets, you should kinda expect it.

How about a Bucket of Water filled from a Vat full of Ice Water (cooled by ice cubes, but not in the bucket thrown). That would be a shocker.
While I Love Songkran I too think the Buckets are Just too much still think its a Great Celebration Thou Thanks

Is-it dangerous to get sick when you get splash with local water, usually we don t drink water in other country to prevent this.ok thank-you.
I would add one more element to your list discussing water buckets. It appears that people can be doused with very cold water taken from tanks with ice. It appears to be the most effective when seeing reactions on faces.
At least the waterpipes inThailand are cleaned after this weekend. 😂

This is my first and last Songkran. I stayed at The Base Condo and you could not escape the bucketteers. I was in one of the video clips although I did not see you. We ended up on Soi 8 and it was crazy.

Let me get this straight you stay in a residential building in one of the busiest areas of Pattaya during a water festival and expected not to get wet ?😂
@@p3rvypri3st Getting wet is not the problem. The issue is that non-Thais take it too far and spray in the face, eyes and ears. Every local that I spoke with hates Songkran other than a few days, not a full week. Even the bar owner shut down the water activities at night.
@@thonatim5321 fair enough mate. I feel the same as the general sentiment in here which is a little bit of water is okay. guns, cannon, hoses used in good spirit and not done with great force or some competitiveness to it. The guy in the orange is a tool and should be deported, even my 5 year old who is addicted to anything water based wouldn't take it that seriously.
Thanks!! I'm glad you had fun and didn't fall. Some people(men mostly or women trying for the flower bouquet throw)go overboard playing sometimes. I didn't see any bad intentions with the splashing.

Happy Songkran! Always enjoy the narration; you have a natural talent for it. Will be visiting Thailand for the first time in October for one month.....time to "get out of Dodge". Southern California is a place I don't recognize anymore, though born and raised here.

I prefer to hide by the pool. Some of the tourists think it's funny to shoot/throw water into people's face. Not me and I seen a number of incidents over this rudeness.

I think living here it is easier to avoid and call your own opportunities to partake, as a visitor, staying at a hotel, probably much more difficult.
Patts was very quiet this songkran,not sure why but way down on even last year which was quiet as well
Most areas felt quieter than last year but others seemed more busy, hard to tell if there were more or less people than last year.

I want to experience this once. I won't mind the squirt guns and buckets. I think I would get uncomfortable with strangers rubbing my face with clay. But overall, take it in stride and just have fun.. If you go out, you have to expect the experience.

I like the foam part, that way you don't have to take a bath, cool. I don't know about the flour on your face, maybe not the best look. I hate the blue PVC tubes, the pressure in the Eyes hurt! I was even wearing safety glass. Other than those, it was a great time.

Great to see the Thai people enjoying their songkran added with many tourists and expats, I think the people who get angry about water on them should stay away from Thailand during songkran , great video Lucas hope you and your lady are doing well
My 2 cents, that no doubt will be met with negativity by many:
1. When you've 'done' songkran once, that's enough for me. After that it's an annoyance
2. The WHO estimates over 2 billion people live, today, without access to clean drinking water. So, despite knowing this is traditional event in Thai calendar, I cannot condone the waste of so much water
