David, you did a great job with this video! Thank you so much for showcasing all the fun we have here. This year, I've been spending a lot of time at the new SEE YOU BAR in the Rhompo Bar Complex. Every night, there's an amazing band playing all of our favorite songs, and we've had some incredible nights there. I'm heading back to Thailand, Jomtien, in October for 5 months, and I can't wait for more great nights at See You Bar. Looking forward to it!
Yes no shortage of bars, if you look in the description there is a gents club map, showing some of the places in Jomtien that I wasn't able to show you on the video 🙏, 🙏
Nice one David. 👍 Have you thought about doing a video at your go-to cycle shop? It's be nice to see what types and prices of bikes are available in Patts. Well... I'd find it interesting, even if no one else did 😁😁
Wow David great video on Jomtien beach nightlife and I loved it and you was right about Soi 6 there it is a busy only a few massage shops like you said and that’s it wow wayyyyy different than Pattaya Soi 6 man I see but again great video I always wanted to see the nightlife of Jomtien beach nightlife thanks this was good
Thanks very much for this mate! The north end of Jomthien is our old stomping grounds. Spent many great nights in the Rompho Market bars, especially the DD Bar which is at the south end of the first inner crossing soi. Owned by a really nice Thai couple, very good staff, mix of expats and tourists. We often ate in the restaurant at the Opal House hotel, very good Chinese-style Thai food, excellent prices. Before I met my wife I also spent a lot of time in Soi Whitehouse, got my PADI Open-Water cert from Mermaids Dive Center which is sadly closed now. I notice you didn't mention what Dongtaan Beach and Jomthien Complex are famous for. Let's just say they're popular with guys who "bat for the other team", as you well know. Before they totally took over, there were a few bars in there I hung out in, but that's a long time ago. So bloody homesick now! LOL! Cheers!
wow.....what a great vibe there. The view over the beach and ocean when you turned around on Beach Rd looked fantastic. The run down Soi 7 reminded me of a couple of streets in Manilla that I may or may not have visited back in my Navy days....looks like a bunch of fun. Added to the list, cheers David
Cheers David, thanks for that run about in Jomtien. I'll be on my second visit in September, first one just in March in Pattaya itself. I had an amazing first time as any single guy would , but like you said, it's easy to burn out so I picked Pratumnak 5 as my base this time. My reasoning being I can take it a bit easier this time at my age 555 but, should I require a visit to the world's naughtiest street I'm only a bolt taxi ride away from soi 6. It was great seeing the night time version of Jomtien and knowing there will be plenty of good places for food and drink and of course "great company"
@@keef6586 I'm stopping at the pratumak guest house above Dom's pizzas, reviews say it's small and friendly . Apparently it's right across the street from hard 8 live music bar, so will be good for a nightcap or three. I've been watching quite a few vlogs I've come to the conclusion, like David has just said, there will be plenty to do, I may even get a bit of a tan this time 😂
@@terryl5611 That’s a spot on location and as you say right opposite Hard 8. Doms is a great place to eat too, Pizzas cooked in the oven in front of you. Abundance of good eating places and bars now,in Soi 5 along with a couple of Gentleman’s clubs. Totally different vibe to Pattaya. I’ve no doubt you end up in the Cobra Lounge too just a stones throw away. Best of luck.
@@keef6586 planning on visiting for 7 days for the first time, it seems central Pattaya and Jomiten area are much different. Thinking of splitting the days between both locations, what do you think about that for first timer...thanks
Enjoyable ride around. Nice to see Rhompoo alive and kicking albeit a bit quiet. Some nice looking bars down there, will have to give it a look one night. Watched L’Aroma go up in the space of a few weeks and we ate there one evening. Bit Pricey but enjoyable. I noticed they are already advertising a happy hour which will make the cocktails more realistic price. As you say the first market is a shadow of its former self. We prefer the “Big Market” around Soi 14. Smaller but better vibe. Jomtien totally different vibe to Pattaya in evenings and along with Pratumnak i find more enjoyable. The Thais ain’t daft, they know where to go. Further on up beach road gets even busier with the Thais on the beach. Plug for the lady who sells iced drinks on Soi 5 about 4 shops in on the right. Best Mango shake in town.
I will have to give her a try, although Mango aint my scene. I went down with Nong. a couple of nights after, but around 9.30, totally different vibe from 7pm
Jomtien looks nice and chilled. Only spent a little time there and during the lockdowns and no alcohol served, so couldn’t fully appreciate it. Certainly looks like a good retirement spot but at 40 years old, I could still enjoy my time there.
Thx David for the Jomtien night tour…good to see some limited nightlife as I’ll,be based there soon. Always said Jomtien is more relaxed n chilled compared to Patts….if want the hustle noise & gogos then it’s only a 10bt bus ride away….the Thais hate the sun so most go late afternoon evening there that’s why always packed out in evenings. 👍🏻😉😎
Hey Dave. I just have to let you know I just bought a 4K OLED tv and your videos are amazing quality! It really is like being there. Thanks for your work. I was in Pattaya recently for a few weeks, hoping to see you on your rounds but no luck 🫤
Thank you sir. Jomtien seems like a decent place to retire or make a home base. Quiet enough with some action but only a short ride into the madness if one wants.
I knew Jomtien was a good answer to a frugal lifestyle as opposed to a party lifestyle in Pattaya, but I never realised till I seen your video David that Jomtien had sooo many options in bars, restaurants and sois. I'd def consider a few months in Jomtien than Pattaya. It all adds up in retirement. Great video and insight again. Keep it up. Subscribed(eventually) GlsgwMick.
Hi Mick, yes for many Jomtiens laid back atmosphere provides for a more enjoyable lifestyle. I would highly recommend it to anyone staying here for anything more than a short holiday 🙏🙏
Absolutely brilliant yet again. You are a brave guy on that bike and a great vlogger. Any chance you might do a Pratumnak ride around? I know it is low season but in your latest videos, I just don't know how some places survive.
Hi David Great vlog as ever. Have you ever watched any back with subtitles on? My Filipina wife cannot always understand your Scottish accent, so we turned them on this time. Apparently, it was all about "John Tien" and at one stage you apologised by saying "sorry a cop"! But earlier when cycling around the bars, the display stated that "the music must be out of coffee right now". Loved your brief cameo as you turned back on to Beach Road towards the end. Keep up the good work. Kind regards, Geoff [in Philippines]
David, I really appreciate your video with impressions of low season, 👍. But as a non-native English speaker, I have massive problems understanding this accent, SORRY for that! For anyone like me, I recommend turning on the subtitles.....very helpful, thanks again for the updated pictures
Hi Dave,a long time watcher with my wife. We are not young been married 48 years. We we wondering is it safer to to ride a scooter in Jomtien than Pattaya.
Jomtien is pretty long, but let's say from Soi 7 (the main bar area) jumping in a Baht Bus and travelling over to McDonalds close to WS, maybe around 15 minutes 🙏🙏
I was really into cars (& MBikes). I was the kid that saved his pocket money for car/bike magazines, could name 99% of the cars in a carpark from 50 yards away. Been through over 25 sport cars/ sporting saloons over the last 35+ years and rarely owned less than 2 cars (a working car and a fun car) at any time. Now all cars are characterless white goods which mostly look the same (need to see the badge to know the make) and although bikes haven't gone that far yet, slowly but surely they're becoming equally disposable... Sad.
Beach road Jomtien reminds me of Blackpool Beach Front in the 1970s/80s they just need trams all lit up like boat shapes and your back in time David 👍👍

Is riding a regular bike safer than riding a scooter there? Or, will they knock u off the road?
Anyone know if the go-kart circuit is still operating just off Theprassit Road please?
Pretty sure it is, even 14 months ago, it was open 100%
Eventually, I will explore more of Jomtien. I think I am saving it for something to do when I retire in Pattaya.
Enjoyed that very much nice change from central pattaya
Does Thailand have strict health standards the Tattoo shops must follow? Or are you taking a risk getting a tattoo there?
I really don't know, I haven't heard any horror stories. Just confirm they use everything new for each customer 🙏🙏
