I would never have thought to do that! I put my leftover thinset into molds, but still haven't used one single molded item. I will try this method, it looks fun! Thank you!
Absolutely. What is the tray made of? You need to have a roughish surface for the tiles to stick properly so if its a melanine tray then it might not work unless you use epoxy glue.
Could I just lay my mesh over the thinset so I don’t have to try to do the design by hand? And lightly press it into the thinset? One more question, could I use tulle fabric as mesh or plastic mesh that people use for embroidery?
Yes, lots of people do it it that way. So you have the design first, then the plastic on top and then the mesh on top of that and then work with thinset. As for the type of mesh, I always use fibre glass mesh which is available from building suppliers. I assume plastic mesh is similar and would work well but I can't guarantee it!
Thank you, Helen! Always love watching your videos. :)

Glad I could help!
Great idea did you grout it after
No, the great thing about using tile adhesive is that no grouting is necessary.
Great tips and tricks!
Glad you think so! 😀
Can you add mosaic glass to a serving tray?
