    Ahhhh this video has really helped me. I’m going to be making my first project (a coaster), and been doing some trial runs with the tesserae. The small pieces are kind of difficult to arrange while keeping the spacing more or less even (for me). I have a tweezer to help with this, but it’s just little things like this that you don’t realize until you get in to it. You are the BEST mosaic channel I have come across. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! 🧡

    I found your channel a couple of weeks ago when I decided to add mosaic to a flower pot. I am fascinated! I can’t wait to do more. I have painted and decoupaged boxes and now I want to use mosaic! Thank you for the great videos.

    OMGeorge! If I don't pay attention, my spaces start getting smaller. LOL Popsicle sticks and toothpicks are my best friends. Also, my husband suggested feeler guages. I think I'll check those out. Thanks Julie.

    Hola!.

    Have you used "thinset" for your "grouting?" If so, do you have a video on it? I'm making stepping stones and since they'll be outside (they will be part of a walkway, so they won't be movable once I lay them down), I need a "grout" that weather proof and I saw a video that someone used "thinset" for the grout, but they didn't go into using it for stepping stones. Also, what sealer should I use for my stepping stones. I plan on making a mosaic porch and walk way, so I am having a variety of materials that I'm using.

    Splendid, as usual! After having seen your videos , I dared make mosaic on my kitchen table( wood), it's not very straight, but acceptable. Now I don't know what to put over it(I grouted it) a sealer or epoxy, which one is going to improve the uneven small pieces and the grout? Thank you so much!

      Hi Daniela! Thanks for your kind words. Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Oh wow, a table?!? NICE!! I have a few videos for you regarding your question: sealer (th-cam.com/video/5JqZU5ucM_k/w-d-xo.html) and resin (th-cam.com/video/E2FxP5WKcD4/w-d-xo.html). Each protect but in different ways. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

    Great hints. Thank you for all the helpful hints. Can you tell me what clear outdoor adhesive you recommend when a piece will be grouted. I recently mosaiced a rock using stained glass, ge outdoor clear silicone for doors and windows. Where a little of the silicone oozed out from under the stained glass the grout did not cover or adhere to the silicone. Is there an adhesive that would work better if some oozes between the seams? Thank you.

      @JulieWeilbacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paula! When I need a clear, outdoor adhesive I use Lexel. As you're tiling, and then after you're done....take a look at your mosaic to check for any adhesive that may have come up between the tiles. If you have any, run a toothpick through it to clean it out. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌

    Great video as always... and good timing! Working on my first text-based piece and it has to fit a specific size and the text is all on a grid (think NYC subway sign). It's all working out so far... fingers crossed!

      @@JulieWeilbacher I'm half-way done and I'm loving it. It's a gift for my best friend, so it'll be a good test! I had a friend a couple of weeks ago see a piece I had made and said she loved it... so I spontaneously gifted it to her... I was so excited that someone liked what I had created. Thanks for all the help and advice along the way!

    At the VERY start of your video, the 2nd image in (of the sheep), you have some yellow, brown and cream/tan tiles that look like rock. What material is that, and where can you get it? Is it cheap (what is the approx price)? I'm really interested in making mosaics, but have a really low budget to do it. Thanks!

    • @JulieWeilbacher
      @JulieWeilbacher  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Maria! That tesserae is smalti and it's pretty expensive compared to other glass materials like vitreous or stained glass.
