They've got no interest in fighting a full-sized human, mostly because they're not stupid enough to attack anything twice their weight, much less 4 of them in the same place. In savannah terms, that would be suicidal. You only attack what you can easily kill and haul away. As has been said, they HAVE learned to use jeeps as useful scouting positions, though.

For one, they are hands down the weakest of all the big cats to the point that humans could probably take them in a fight; they lack the sharp claws or powerful bite and weight class of other big cats, they're literally only good at running I kid you not. But they also have calm temperaments and don't see humans as either prey nor natural predators. There has been 2 recorded incidents, total, of people dying to them and those were likely cases of either rabies or some other exceptional circumstance.

Compare this to domestic dogs, who kill several thousand people a year.
