- Another discovery, another siege, and something else...
Be mindful that I'd like to experience as much of this fresh as possible. No spoilers please.
Give tips when:
- I ask for them.
- I'm doing something wrong.
- I could be doing something better.
DON'T give tips when:
- They spoil the surprise or joy of discovery.
- They're about things I haven't seen, unlocked, or otherwise shouldn't know about yet.
- Finding out the hard way seems like more fun ;)

When the invective and expletive fail to capture the emotion of the moment.
I think a sigh is the end result, the culmination of hubris and frustration.
Another great episode Blondie 👍👍 Yeah, the RNG in those fortresses can vary massively!
As others have mentioned, the thunder axes are a lot of fun to play with! Although I don’t know this for certain, would guess they have one of, if not the highest dps in the game.
One other tip, the outside of fortresses count as permanent game structures, and as such, stone / grouston pieces can be attached directly to it, can be useful if you wanted to build some stairs up the outside of a fortress, and a walkway / platform around the outside.
Looking forward to next time… 👍👍
I had figured that they might be a good place to also fight a boss…
Shame they’re so far away from the arena.
Was hoping you would find iolite in this fortress! I do love that enchantment. And the axes.. chef's kiss, even if all you do with them going forward is to chop wood!
I love the axes, they’re so fast that the proc chance per enemy is practically guaranteed.
So there is an elemental upgrade. SWORD TIME!!!
Been looking for a Valheim playthrough to watch, I think I found it, great stuff!
Cheers 🍻
you really scored on the goodies in this fort! It got you over the top for the bells and you got the iolite gems!!
Seems like I got fairly lucky with that haul. Is iolite rare?
That warlock likely went flying from the central tower because of pinballing from the many spikes on the top there. I have some personal experience in the matter. 😆
🤣
That’s brilliant.
Yay, finally some iolite! That siege was a real fuster, but worth it. The drops from chests are, unfortunately, pure RNG, but it worked out here. I personally love using the thunder enchantment with the berserkir axes for their insane attack speed, they really complement each other.
Re the visual fx: this is a consistent complaint I have across the whole game. Don't get me wrong, Valheim is gorgeous and has a striking art style that I love. But nearly all of the visual fx are exaggerated in intensity to the point that they make it harder to see what's going on, interfering with gameplay rather than enhancing it.
The level-up sparks, the dust puffs from building or planting (I use a mod that gets rid of these), the smoke cloud mobs make when they die, the mist in mistlands, the comically excessive screen shake... I have the impression whoever does their visual fx really does not understand subtlety or the concept of "less is more", or does not themselves routinely play the game enough to understand how these things impact gameplay. Could be wrong, but that's my takeaway from the end result we get.
It sounds like we are brothers in arms in this fight. The screen clutter has been mostly manageable until now, but it’s clear they went over the top with Ashlands. The excessive spawns and swirling shimmering ash heat (while gorgeous) exacerbate the issue.
What is a "Blind longplay" ?
Blindfolded. That’d be somethin’.
It’s when you know nothing about a game going in and have to figure it out as you play.
