- Here's a comparison video of the Porsche Macan S Diesel and the Macan Turbo. The main question being, is the Turbo really worth the extra money?

hey seb ! actually, there are 258 hp in the S diesel, not 300, that is for the S petrol
Can't call this guy a petrolhead when he doesn't even know the amount of horsepower they have with the s diesel. 😂 So painful to watch. But I unsubscribed before I get comments like: "Don't watch his videos then!"

I'm sorry, but I just don't like the way he says "my car". 'Cause its his dads Porsche. And even he beeing the one to spec it, he does not know why the turbo has some of the button's. The ride hide, has nothing to do with the turbo for example, it just depends on having the Air Suspension fittet or not. :/ So I'm not sure about this Video...

Nice review Seb....yeah when we talk about any car with more than 200cv, the amount of torque is a significant performance and driving feeling factor. Your Macan Diesel S has 427 lb.ft @ 1750-2500 rpm and the Macan Turbo has @ RPM: 405 @ 1800. This is the reason the two 'sisters' feel almost the same when at low revs....obviously the more you rev and the more the Macan Turbo will push you against the seat unleashing 400cv....

I see no reason to spend 20k+ for the Macan Turbo. The Macan S is superb. It is also 200 lbs lighter. I put an ecu remapping tune on my ‘15 Macan S and my performance numbers are now identical to the stock ‘15 turbo. My 0-60 went from 4.9 - 4.2 sec. My 1/4 mile speed went from 102 mph - 107 mph. Although the turbos stopping distance is shorter. But that’s nothing that performance discs and brake pads can’t remedy. But even as is... the braking feels strong and fade free. Stop after stop. I love my S! And I love the 20k that stayed in my pocket as well.
I would like to mention that the turbo comes with red brake calipers while the diesel comes with gray calipers. The turbo would also have the same exhaust tips as the diesel if it was speced with sport exhaust :)

He definitely needs a Macan Turbo covered on one badass wrap to 'suits' he's character + the Vossen VFS-2 in a custom matte black finish. ;)
I own a ‘15 Macan S with all available options (sport+, chrono, pana roof, etc.). 70k out of the dealership. A similarly equipped turbo would have been about 92k. That said the turbo is about .6 seconds quicker to 60 and 7 mph faster top speed. Braking is 12 feet better from 100 mph in the turbo. At the same time the S is about 200 lbs. lighter. All that said I just spent $1200 on an ecu remapping sports tune. Which has given me a dyno tested increase in hp (45) and torque (62). My performance numbers now are pretty identical to a stock Macan Turbo now. And it feels like it!! Really strong thrust all the way through the powerband. I see no reason whatsoever to spend 20k+ more for a Macan Turbo.
Hey I extremely appreciate your review! It's practically entirely the same engine except the cylinder bores are .6 larger in the turbo. Would you happen to know any other engine differences between the two?
You should try and find a way to test drive an exige or evora,400 if you can.
I think Macan S Disesel is quite different than Macan S (the one i owned). Macan S has the same exhaust sound as the Turbo, and has the clock display on the dash as well. The downside is Macan S only has 340hp where Turbo is 400hp. You should test drive the Macan S. In my opinion, don't need to upgrade to the Turbo. xoxo

I think it's a pity, that Porsche makes the Turbocharged engines feeling like natural aspirated ones, because i love the feeling of a turbocharged engine,, more than of a natural aspirated. The moment, when the Turbo sets in and presses you in your seat is the best feeling ever.

If you compared a full optioned diesel it would be more fair. You can have almost everything of all those options in your diesel that you say the turbo has. I'm very satisfied with our diesel and I wouldn't trade it for a turbo any day.

The only turbo that is worth it, is the Quad turbo intercooler :)
the macan doesn't have Porsche PDK but a double clutch transmission from the Audi Q5

Sport plus and the suspension come with the sport crono package .
"sevolenkung plus" makes the steering differenz. But also availabel for tha DIesel.

We must be hard up for content. Who knew that a Porsche came in a diesel. While a diesel will give better mileage and good torque the Turbo has Sport plus, Sport Chrono and launch control as well.

On the Turbo S you can adjust the suspension? You also have that button on the diesel you just didn't got air suspension than?
how about the ride comfort? Is the ride firmer/less comfortable in Turbo in comparison to S or standard Macan?
i have a cayyene s i test drive the turbo and i didn't think it would be worth but this is with the cayenne

The macan s diesel has about 260bhp not 300. They feel the same power wise because they have similar torque, in fact the diesel has more.
You should have bought a Macan Turbo in the first place. Buying a diesel Porsche is the biggest waste ever. Paying huge money for VW engines.
You forgot the brakes. Macan S all have Silver Calipers. Turbos have Red and the plain Jane Macan has them in black. Yellow is carbon ceramic and a waste.

Is it worth upgrading to the Turbo ? Yes it is. Its not like you buy an SUV for the ultimate in handling, so get the fastest one that you can.
it's not worth getting a Macan Turbo. Get a Macan GTS. It's basically the exact same. and it's not worth getting the 'Sport Chrono Package' on the Turbo either. the clock isn't the only difference of course. the 'sport chrono package' enables the motor to work harder pretty much, and in a Turbo it isn't that effective. just a waste of money tbh.
I would have the petrol S, then go for a tune for 650 NM

worst Porsche review i ever saw. this is a minor, but he does not even pronounce the name right. when he was letting us hear the exhaust. in the turbo, i believe he had the sport exhaust button on, and in the s it was not. i have not seen many of the s models with the sport exhaust. i have owned 3 Porsche's, and am driving the Macan s at the moment. this video would not have done me any good for purchasing tha Macan s. best reviews in my opinion, are from Rosenthal automotive. i could do a better review on a lot of the Porsche's, having owned them. not much more i can say.

In my personal opinion, unless you plan to track the car, there is no point getting the Chrono Pack. Otherwise it's just pure wank that you got it. And if you're going to track the car, why get a Macan [even if it's a turbo]? A Cayman or 911 would be better suited. And by the way Seb, "Porsche" is pronounced as "Por-shuh", not "Porshh".

Having driven the Macan Diesel I can confirm the sport chrono makes a huge difference to the engine. Much more responsive than in standard setting. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of buying one.
