    Soooo glad to see you fly here! It's my favorite place to fly. The upper west part of PNG I haven't explored. But most of the big island and all of New Britain has been flown. Consider Goroka my base. But love taking off or landing at places like Maddang and Wewak because of the beautiful water and small islands in those areas. But all of PNG is beautiful. Incredible mountains and amazing valleys. I've never flown so many "go arounds" in my life as I did at Yifki. It's like in a bowl between several mountains and when you don't get it right, you're going around. It was trying, because when you miss you're going between mountains trying to stay low and keep your speed down with not much room to turn around and try again. Loved it.

    Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your reviews. I'm 64 and grew up near YVR, exRCAF WW2 Veteran Parents and Airline Navigator Father. Was hurt in a Car Crash in late '70s washing me out of Flight School😪😪😪. Sim Flying was all that was open to me so flew a lot of the early PC sims, playing on Xbox S now and quite happy with it's performance on this Sim. I see you like flying around Coastal BC which I just Love!!! Keep up the Great Work!!!

      Brother I am soooo with you!
      This is where I've done most of my sim flying in MSFS2020. One of the most beautiful places in the world. And challenging at times. I sub to Missionary Bush Pilot as well and have flown all his flights a few times over. He fly's a Kodiak 100 and I fly the 208 with his Kodiak skin over top.
      It is always good to see you sir. I've been a subscriber for years but I haven't hit that bell, or should I say "Bel". I shall do that immediately, as you have always done great content and shown yourself to be a super totally upstanding person of character. And those are the kind of people I like to surround myself. So respect, but now I have missed too much of Av's video and will restart.

    I learned how to fly in the 70s in a Porter as a young teenager in the Oriente jungles of Ecuador. They had the loving nickname of Machaca, which is the strangest-looking beetle you will ever see. Two of these were used to fly to outlying oilfields, which had some pretty rough strips. These planes are a joy to fly.

    I wonder if anyone knows what the rudder trim adjustment before takeoff is all about? Seems that it’s supposed to be adjusted into the green on the little dial - which is all the way to the right. Is that because of torque? I haven’t ‘flown’ this aircraft enough yet to be able to tell the difference.

    • @AvAngel

I’ll figure it out. :)

      @@AvAngel O, I already see what you probably mean: it is one of the more detailed airports in MSFS, is that right?
      By the way and correct me if I am wrong, but this Bugalaga airstrip is in Papua, in Indonesia, not in Papua New Guinea (is a different country on the right side of Papua, Indonesia.
      But anyway a beautifull develloped version! I hope one of the flightsim.to devellopers will create some distinct Papua inland people, as well as some more bush local people in several other countries. Also goats, chicken and kids ;-)

    Really enjoyed that flight Rachael and with my friend visiting me in hospital tomorrow I’ll get him to bring his laptop and X Box controller (I know, I know but it’s what he can bring) and have a go at this one!
    Take off was spicy and nicey! Landing well I’ve been there in Africa when I didn’t apply enough throttle to get up to parking and had the fun sight of a Kodiak been towed by a Toyota pick up! So I won’t give you any crap because you know what you did wrong and won’t do it again
    Just beautiful scenery and the quick go I had on my mates laptop made me truly truly hate my potato lol
    Your videos on this channel go from strength to strength, I really believe they are improving constantly and the starting standard you set was very high so huge congratulations love!
    I just love your bush flights and I dunno if it’s enough for a tutorial but one of the advanced techniques I learned for short field on river bank was to drag my wheels in the water, a lot harder than it sounds! I’d love to see your take on that one
    Thoroughly loving your content, I’ll catch up on those I missed I promise (I’m allowed my iPad for two hours at a time now) and can’t wait for more adventures

  • @DEFkon001

    That airport's quite the challenge. The "Tony Hawk" or "Napoleon Dynamite" ramp makes it really unique. I've found that you need to find a sweet spot for both going up and down that incline for each aircraft. If you try to race down it too fast you can end up with your prop in the dirt ( ask me how I know :P ) and if you try to race up it too fast you can end up smacking the prop into the incline... or launching your self into the bushes. Good times.
    There's a part of me that wants to see what happens if you try to depart from this airport in an airliner just for the LOLs.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh god it would be memes! Yeah its a tricky one, its something I'd taxi down and accelerate after leaving the incline, for arrival, i needed to keep momentum, the prop couldn't drag enough air at that altitude after stopping.

    • @DEFkon001
      @DEFkon001 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AvAngel I've made the same mistake. It's probably against all the rules.. but since it's a turbine I just put her in reverse gear .. backed up about 2-3 plane lengths and just punched it.

    Microsoft flight simulator does SO much better with trim than X-Plane. When I started flying MSFS, my grip on the controls immediately became so much lighter. Didn’t feel like I was having to wrestle the plane around the sky.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is funny because Xplane fans lord how its based around real aerodynamics, yet no plane feels as trim weird as xplane, the trim feel in microsoft's sims has always felt very similar to real aircraft.

  • @hobanagerik
    @hobanagerik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The tricky thing with sloped runways is to remember on approach the runway will make you think you are approaching from higher than you really are. This can lead you to reducing power in an attempt to come in shallower, and when you attempt to flare you don’t have enough energy to match the slope. Keeping power in until the slope is matched, then reduce power will help, and getting used to that view of the runway.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty good with it normally, it's more a disconect with turboprops for me... I'm still not used to giving it power before i know i need it.
