This is the best ever live footage of Queen. It was filmed in Montreal in 1981. Moblevision developed technology to create a traveling IMAX show with a 5 story movie image. They approached Queen about filming them and eventually Freddy agreed. They wanted to shoot all band members so they used 8 cameras. They had to rotate 3-4 of 8 cameras each filled with with a 10 minute roll of 35 mm Kodak film. They also had people running back and forth to the cameras and a guy next to each cameraman to load the film and pull the focus. The cameras used double anamorphic lenses to squeeze as much detail onto the film as possible. There was no way to say take 1, take 2, etc. when filming so automatic slating was used to create an ID tag for every shot of film. It was the first time automatic slating was ever used. Many years later 700 Apple Mac G5’s spent one MONTH processing the film. A computation compared each frame with the ones before it and the ones after it to remove dirt, scratches and some of the defects of the original filming.
Pretty sure it was recorded in reel. because reel records direct lights reflacted and it has really decent quality. and if it was recorded in digital format that time, it would have 320*240p crap quality XD

Saul Swimmer, the director of the film "We Will Rock You" (of which this video is an excerpt), convinced the band to give two off-tour concerts so that he and his team could record them with high-end movie gear. His idea was to have a concert filmed in the highest quality possible and use the result to showcase a projection system his company had developped. According to an interview he gave in the 80s, the film costed 2 millions USD and required a year of post-production.
This is absolutely the best quality music video of all time. It’s like literally going back in time. High definition and has a soap opera visual effect that looks even more realistic as if it could have been recorded last week. Just looking at the audience you actually feel your in the 80’s vibe. No lip sync nonsense just pure talent accompanied with beautiful cinematography! A time capsule video that can’t be matched. So mesmerizing!❤

Freddie was literally the only one singer in those times who was almost naked at concerts, funny yet epic. And his performance? He was just simply talented, no matter if it was life or on tape, he sounded still the same, still great, he didn't needed playback at all. He had talent, like no one else.

Freddie is great, don't get me wrong, but to say he's the only legend is a surefire way of shrinking the contributions of each member of the band.

Yup, originally recorded on 35mm film and at a later date, just a few years ago, the film reels were digitally remastered by scanning the originally 35mm film material @ 4k or 8k resolution. At this moment in time 4k picture resolution is the 'normal' high end resolution. Anything above that (8k) is very expensive and only high tec specialized locations can use that material. After the film reels were scanned in, then it moves on to the colour correction process (improving the deteriorated film colourization) and afterwards it goes on to the picture quality improvement process. Here the defects, for example, scratches on the film reels and general wear and tear damage to the film layers, which will now been seen in 4k quality are removed, using specialized hardware and software filters,the picture sharpeness can be increased, scenes with stronger film grain can be reduced etc etc (this picture improvement stage is where I work in).
Actually there was the Scam with the P2 cameras only sold to the Pro Market, the consumer is always been played like a fool on Camera tech. We went from DV in 2001 to 2007 consumer Digital Cameras that look worse then the DV tech from 2001 LOL. Companies continue to Protect the Pro market by keeping better tech away from the consumer public. This is what Magic Lantern is Exposing the Criminality in the Camera Companies by making 5 Cameras with the same Firmware and Internals ( with small variances ie sensor). the Canon 60D, 70D are the SAME IDENTICAL CAMERAS firmware internally. This should actually be criminal investigated for consumer fraud. You know the old pesky P2 cards? Yes Panasonic actually was selling 4 SDHC cards of 1 gig each ( total 4 gigs) inside those P2 cards which used a Raid controller. There was ZERO TECH in those P2 cards. My JVC DV cam from 2001 still looks better and craps all over any Video Digital Camera under $1000 what a joke considering the time here 2001-2017. Now that anyone can grab Software for FREE now with Almost every Company opening up their products now like Black Magic, The Foundry, etc. We need a complete open hardware Camera market no more BS. All Digital Cameras should be able to shoot 1 FPS to their Max. This BS of locking frame rates and firmware locks need to GTFO. of here. The current AVCHD cameras are a complete Joke and AVCHD is yet another BS tech sold to the masses. DV from 2001 looks better, faster to edit ( Iframes), less compression, fast codec etc. Keep protecting the PRO's and eventually you have no one up and coming to use your product since they could not afford it they then DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT IT. This is why you see a FREE Version of Unreal Engine, Fusion, Nuke, Lightworks, Davinci Resolve, Autodesk maya etc. Even Renderman went Free!!!! Software has been opened up to the Masses now it's time for the Hardware as well. Pros are scared because 10 minutes in google or a youtube video you can learn more in those minutes than someone in 20 years. Read it again the Pro's better smell the Reality and understand that what you use I can use and can learn it even better than you. Give any Engineer a $1000 audio mixer HE IS GOING TO GET THE SAME SOUND AS ME AS ANYONE ELSE with a $1000 mixer. However he will Refuse to use it and instead points to the SSL 4000 Console behind him. Sometimes the only difference between 2 people is money . No Audio Engineer I know off has ever taken my Challenge, I will use his Studio mixer and he uses mine. Some Engineers hey lol

Yup, originally recorded on 35mm film and at a later date, just a few years ago, the film reels were digitally remastered by scanning the originally 35mm film material @ 4k or 8k resolution. At this moment in time 4k picture resolution is the 'normal' high end resolution. Anything above that (8k) is very expensive and only high tec specialized locations can use that material. After the film reels were scanned in, then it moves on to the colour correction process (improving the deteriorated film colourization) and afterwards it goes on to the picture quality improvement process. Here the defects, for example, scratches on the film reels and general wear and tear damage to the film layers, which will now been seen in 4k quality are removed, using specialized hardware and software filters,the picture sharpeness can be increased, scenes with stronger film grain can be reduced etc etc (this picture improvement stage is where I work in).
Actually there was the Scam with the P2 cameras only sold to the Pro Market, the consumer is always been played like a fool on Camera tech. We went from DV in 2001 to 2007 consumer Digital Cameras that look worse then the DV tech from 2001 LOL. Companies continue to Protect the Pro market by keeping better tech away from the consumer public. This is what Magic Lantern is Exposing the Criminality in the Camera Companies by making 5 Cameras with the same Firmware and Internals ( with small variances ie sensor). the Canon 60D, 70D are the SAME IDENTICAL CAMERAS firmware internally. This should actually be criminal investigated for consumer fraud. You know the old pesky P2 cards? Yes Panasonic actually was selling 4 SDHC cards of 1 gig each ( total 4 gigs) inside those P2 cards which used a Raid controller. There was ZERO TECH in those P2 cards. My JVC DV cam from 2001 still looks better and craps all over any Video Digital Camera under $1000 what a joke considering the time here 2001-2017. Now that anyone can grab Software for FREE now with Almost every Company opening up their products now like Black Magic, The Foundry, etc. We need a complete open hardware Camera market no more BS. All Digital Cameras should be able to shoot 1 FPS to their Max. This BS of locking frame rates and firmware locks need to GTFO. of here.
The current AVCHD cameras are a complete Joke and AVCHD is yet another BS tech sold to the masses. DV from 2001 looks better, faster to edit ( Iframes), less compression, fast codec etc.
Keep protecting the PRO's and eventually you have no one up and coming to use your product since they could not afford it they then DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT IT. This is why you see a FREE Version of Unreal Engine, Fusion, Nuke, Lightworks, Davinci Resolve, Autodesk maya etc.

Software has been opened up to the Masses now it's time for the Hardware as well. Pros are scared because 10 minutes in google or a youtube video you can learn more in those minutes than someone in 20 years.
Read it again the Pro's better smell the Reality and understand that what you use I can use and can learn it even better than you. Give any Engineer a $1000 audio mixer HE IS GOING TO GET THE SAME SOUND AS ME AS ANYONE ELSE with a $1000 mixer. However he will Refuse to use it and instead points to the SSL 4000 Console behind him.
