Dynaudio Focus F160....most lifelike, not veiled, thin, colored, recessed like the other 2....performs best on all genres of music....feels like the background is uncluttered, clarity is excellent!
Haha! Me too!! I also listened to this on a pair of Ruark Templar floor standing speakers. The differences in the comparison music were the same although, two different liistening experiences. The 6.2's have a great clear voice. The KEF's paint a more immersive and realistic image which brings your ear to each instrument rather than forcing the notes on you.
elac has full sound specially the mids and smooth highs, kef's highs are somewhat thin and bright you can hear the sibilant when using headphones, dynaudio has very natural sound lows, mids and highs. so it would be. Dynaudio elac kef
To think that the Kef’s has brighter high end than the Elacs is hard to buy. The harsh, brightness of the Elacs literally made me cringe, while both the Dynaudio much less and the Kefs not a single time.
Great job comparing the speakers. I wish everyone else's reviews were as good as yours. There are so many people that really don't know how to review products, it was a pleasure to watch your video.
I was hesitating between the Elacs and the Kef but now I'm sure I'll get the Elacs. Much more what I expect from speakers, that they have a full range of definition and not sacrifying midrange. Elacs give us the impression to listen to music not to speakers interpeting music. It's strange that not everybody see (hear) that in the comments. This shows that we have all different auditive expectations.
Wow what a difference. I think the lower end amp makes the Elac more enjoyable and the higher end speakers less impressive. With this amp, I would not be able to justify the cost of higher end speakers. Star Wars is really giving this amp a work out. The lack of headroom is apparent with dynamics suffering.
Compare 6:35 to 7:35 to 8:35 and listen for the kettle drum. To me the KEF's do an outstanding job of bringing out the kettle drums which show their ability to articulate better in that frequency range. Overall, and in my opinion, I find the Elac's more pleasing to my ear because they have a bit of that "scooped mids" that I prefer with highs that won't burn the ear after extended listening. I like them all but prefer the Elac's which is why I own a pair myself.
Dynaudio for the win. Really good separation of instruments especially during SW track. Elac second although a little bloated almost muddy. KEF third, sounded almost artificial, not bright just plastic.
Very revealing comparison. Each impressive for itselve. I saved a lot on speakers because I keep enjoying my Dynaudio 1.3 mk 2. When I bougt them back in 1998 I listen to them with my cheap Yamaha Surround-Receiver and also a Burmester combo for five figures. So I was aware what they will be capable of when I am able to get a better system. And boy do they show. At least for my taste.
For my ear, B6.2: Bright treble, loudest but not clearest bass, voice was okay. KEF: softer treble, quieter bass, good voice. The 160: Clearest voice, clean bass, soft but crisp treble. I don't know why, but I hear more things from the Dynaudio 160 than the other two. Certain things pop out, and I go, "Hmmmm." It forces me to go back to the listen to KEF and ELAC where they muted or drowned out. The Dynaudio 160 won this for sure... I am coming in somewhat blind, and without reading the comments. I knew the price of the ELAC, but not the other two. Good work sir!
Very well done. The Elac sounds the most "correct". The Kef sounds too metallic in many areas but also overdamped and choked in the overtones. The Dynaudio has a plump, bloated bottom end that is overly smooth with excessive overhang and smearing of the timing.
The Kef is tighter and more natural. From listening i definatly feel that as you drive these with better and better equipment that the Kef would increasingly distance themselfs from the others. 🧐
Elac - good value loudspeakers but buy the other loudspeakers if you can afford KEF - very interesting loudspeakers; you can make them sing really Dynaudio - Shoot and forget style loudspeakers, they are not that interesting and impressive but you can't fail with them
DYNAUDIO is my favorite , I have been cranked up the volume with my headphone amp/dac the 160 sounds most solid ,controlled, stable , clean and not fatigue sweet sounding speakers it's in different level out of the three, Kef has more open sound but less control and can be fatiguing to listen to, Elac just great but not in the same level of 160 , Thank You .also the recording is really amazing too , absolutely love this video !
To me the Elac sounded the best overall, the instrument separation in the Star Wars theme was really impressive and for a speaker of it's price range it seems really good and most clear in the vocals as well but i think they may be more fatiguing compared to the others because the treble seems more energetic and airy. The KEF was disappointing and to me it was a really tight fight between the Dynaudio and the KEF for last place
I own the Elac b6.2. But I recently heard the LS50 in a store and found that it sounded better than the Elac. The mid to higher frequencies are rendered much better on the LS50. Maybe it's tuned to be slightly brighter.
It's amazing how these Elacs can hang out and in many cases better the sound of the other much more expensive speakers! I am planing on buying me another set of Elac B6.2 for my guest bedrooms and then I will try to buy the floorstanding Elac speaker!
@@RainbowCharade I had Klipschs before and they are too bright, but the RP600M have very good reviews, I wonder if that brightmess has been tamed on these Klipsch speaker. Remember that the Elacs are half the price chaper and sometimes go on sale as low as 150. USD and the Elacs are a very pleasant speaker for your ears, it is warm and detailed, great for long listening sessions!
The Elac sounds well defined, the Kef is less tight while the Dynaudio adds a kind ethereal quality. I thought of buying the Kef second hand but now I see it's not the best speaker ever as some say. In fact I prefer it the least.
It has taken 16 hrs a day and two years to break in my $370 B62`s. They sound better every day. Audio VooDoo. I owed a couple of used record stores for 25 years and we went through a lot of gear. Hands-down the Klipsch La Scalas were the best for the big store. I use the Elacs on a very large desk-top set up and they blow my mind.
nice, objective comparison. In the setup Dynaudio is the most engaged sound presentation with depth and tonal balance (like KEF doesn't have) and pretty good detail and dynamic (like ELAC doesn't have). cheers...
In terms of tone and timber, the Elacs sounded the most realistic to actual instruments closely followed by Dynaudio. The Dynaudios excelled at soundstage width, depth and imaging with the Elacs a close second. The Kef was never in the game to my ears..wrong timber and poor imaging and not a great soundstage. Based on the price to performance ratio, the Elacs win.
Really..I’m just starting to put together my first audiophile level system..everyone has recommended the Elacs ..but I found the KEF’s sounded better..more defined in the mids? It’s a learning process so it’s interesting to see other points of view
#1 Dynaudio - Best balanced of the three. Detailed but not bright. Good bass. However, I am sort of missing the comfortable character of Elac and the interesting aspects of the KEF when listening to them. #2 Elac - Very surprised how well this speakers holds its own compared to the other two! Seems a little fuller but looser sounding in the bass. The midrange is as good as the others. The treble is less bright than the KEF, but not as refined as the other two. It has a very likable sound signature. #3 The KEF is a better speaker than Elac in many ways, however, the bass seems to be lacking a bit and there is some treble sharpness. If you can tame that brightness it is a a very good speaker. It has a nice focus and detail. Good soundstage. I can see why you like it. In fact I can see why you like all three of these speakers but for different reasons.
Did you mean to say that in this demo we are listening to you are using the Onix A55 and in the first video you are using your Class D amps? I'm just confused because I didn't think the Onix A55 was a Class D amp. Cheers.
the kef isn't so bright like many people said. with the right amplifer , like mine , marantz pm 8005, its a a great speakers, they already belong one of best in speakers history , you can listening everything inside of the music. if the music have bass, they will play, if not, they not play, the speakers dont have any kind of coloration , just pure sound.
It really is amp dependant, if you look at the comment section of my LS50 review, part say yes and part say no. I have tried on different amp and it's so different but overall it does lean on the brighter side. Which is a good thing if you like that kind of sound which I do.
one of the best flavour reverb on vokal was on dynaudio which cant finded on elac and kef...thats why dyn go for highend elac for hifi kef for hifi+ sorry for my bad english
Thanks for doing this video! Even with a budget recorder like the tascam, I can hear vast differences. Most accurate: Kef Most forgiving and musical: Elac most weird: dynaudio.
Based only on this, it seems to me that the Dynaudio is the most balanced one for home listening; it seems to be fairly detailed with good bass, treble and mids balance. The LS50 appears to get more detail out of the mix but will probably be a bit fatiguing over time; I have little doubts however that it would be the best speaker for professional use and for mixing. The Elacs to be honest did not amaze me at all in comparison with the other two. That being said we should of course take into account the price difference so I suppose it has good value for money. Thanks for the video!
I listening through Beyerdynamic Amiron Home/Denon USB 301 DAC/AMP and to my ears, voices on Dynaudios sounds more cleaner and natural, followed by Kefs. Elacs sounds a little congested, its ok for the price range but definitively they are in different leagues!
If you want to extract details especially at lower volumes maybe KEF is the one, but otherwise the Star Wars track has just revealed how Dynaudio shows its abilities when required. The Dyn has a polished sound, can’t go wrong with it.
i love your channel bro, you are positioned in a higher class of audio i present, a bit to expensive for me...nice too see the way you present and using good microphones too
This is my opinion about how the speakers sound. Not sure whether it is correct. ELAC Debut B6.2 - It sounds little coarse and it has little more punch (bass) compared to others. First 2 songs are good to hear, and I think it lacked the finesse in the star wars theme. KEF LS50 - The sound is more refined compared to ELAC and it's little laid back in the bass compared to ELAC. But overall, it sounded good in all 3 songs. Dynaudio 160 - The sound is refined and has details, but lacked the bass which is a let down. If someone into fine audio, I think the ranking would be KEF LS50, Dynaudio 160 and then ELAC B6.2. If someone into lively audio and like to dance than listen to details in song, then I would rank in order of ELAC B6.2, KEF LS50 and then Dynaudio 160.
I purchased the elacs based on what I heard in this demo. They just had this "weight" on the snare drum and I thought those were the speakers for me. I was disappointed however, after comparing them to my beloved Sony SS-CS3 floor standers. I see you like comparing bookshelf speakers but the Sony floor standing speakers are the same price for the pair as the bookshelf Elacs. The Elacs sound thin and restricted. My budget setup is: Sony UDP-800 bluray player doing the decoding and converting all 44 KHz pcm to 88 KHz; Harman Kardon 1710S home theater receiver; Sony SS-CS3 core series floor standing speakers; Sony SACS9 subwoofer(if used, crossed over at 80 Hz). This receiver and speakers combo is a perfect match.
Thanks for Sharing Dimitar. What you have is real life experience and it will help others in making decisions. I just made a video on sound demo and it's problem. I think there are a few possible reasons why you are experiencing this, 1) I used a proper stereo integrated amp in the demo and it had enough power to drive the Elac. AV receiver for me, the power ratings are misleading. 2)The expectations is incorrect. A floor standing speaker should have better bass response compare to a bookshelf. I almost got the SSCS3 myself. Not expensive and it has the same sound signature as the SS5.
The comments are very funny. To me, it sounds like everyone is listening to completely different presentations. Certainly not hearing what I'm hearing! Lol. I think each is hearing their own preconceptions. I've never heard any of these speakers before(still haven't), but no one here can even agree on dynamic presentation let alone brightness, lol. Thanks for the demo. It showed me that if nothing else, the English language is broken. Evidently, the tower of Babel is still functioning very well, thank you very much...
I really don't like how the KEFs sound. It just feels too forward and uncomfortable to listen to. The Dyns are absolutely fantastic in most ways, clarity, details, bass, feels balanced. But knowing the price, I think the Elac has the most pleasing sound to me by far. It's a tad quiet on the highs but I don't think it's noticible without directly comparing it to high end speakers.
I have the KEF Q100's and the Elac Debut B5's. With those two sets of speakers, I definitely have a similar opinion: KEF is forward and a bit uncomfortable to listen to, Elac has a very pleasing sound. I bought the KEFs first, then the Elacs. Now that I have the Elacs, I don't even want to listen to the KEFs, so I'll be selling them.
+Çerastes: Yes I do realize that. I am listening through my Phillips headphones. Despite it being a recording, it is a decent I would say. Compared to most audio demos you see. I may be having a placebo when it comes to bass. But you can very easily tell that there is differences in the forwardness of the cymbals and the change in clarity/volume. I will admit it is hard to tell a difference but to say that it's impossible is not true. Yes, tonal changes can not be judged in this way. But by studying really hard at high volume directly into my ears, I don't think the KEFs are for me just due to how much detail there is. Again, I still think the dyns are best in everything that I could tell. But I still think the Elacs are best due to the price. Which is really a given, I am a budget minded person.
Dynaudio makes great speakers. I love how balanced and ‘boring’ they are compared to most other speakers. What sounds great or impressive in a listening session most of the time ends up to be irritating when you have to to listen to it for a longer time. Same goes for women 😉
Fantastic job, and with proper (AKG) headphones you can really hear the difference. I am most impressed by the Elac's, they seem to have everything, and sound just as good as the famous LS50's. This is exactly how a online speaker comparison should be, thanks for your ecellent work. However, I'm a bit late in viewing this, there is likely a whole new generation of bookshelf speakers eg the KEF Meta. Do you have a newer video for the same type/price of speaker ?
I think they all sound very god but my personal preference is Kef LS50, better dynamic range, better imaging and instrument separation and more engaging sound in gereral
Dunno, if the kef q100 and up are better then the ls50 i would disagree. Have heard them all , up to the q350 vs a Dynaudio emit m20, and the m20 sounded way too good compared to all of kefs. Kef sounded less detaild, more muffled. Typicle english sound, i gues. You love it, or hate it.
The difference in price is reflected in sound..Elac is very good budget speaker, kef better but a little bright , dynaudio has a reference studio monitor sound,.
The Elac's treble sounded "hot" to me, the KEF's were smooth, and the Dynaudios were the best balanced. Someone earlier mentioned you'd be upgrading the Elacs in a couple years for something better, and I agree. Pay me now or pay me later, says the high end.
Could be the recording (first song) but the Elac's sound more dynamic, especially compared to the KEF's, and they sound more open and seem to display more of the recordings added ambience creating effects than Dynaudio. How it measures and if that can explain something i have no idea of..
But do you mean it ads stuff that isnt on the recording at all or does it unveil more of the effect just, perhaps by being bright or having a very very good driver?
forget the value..lets talk sound. elac very accurate highs, full bodied mids. ls50 sibilant highs i can hear it piercing in my in ear monitor Dynaudio natural in all spectrum but slightly recessed. cant differiantiate bet.the bass coz the song doesnt emphasize on the low end.
Thank you so much. Finally first person to do a comparison between Focus 160 and LS50. Im a Dyn owner but the initial obsession over the kef remaind for the last 5 years mostly because the High end audiio market is non existent here. I love the Dyns powered by Hegel H300. But i still wonder. This has been very useful. Thanks again.
Elac came out clear and crispy with substance, KEF is the worst of the three, disregard their cost. And the punch, it’s the punch that counts, seems like missing in the contenders.
I like the highs on kef. On 5:14 the guitar next to her voice is so clear “massaging my ears” while if you go back to Elack at 4:13 her voice is covering that nice sparkling notes from the guitar. I think Kef is a clear winner of the two . am using senhuser Hd 598 and Fiio E10 to listen. . . Now considering the price of course I would buy the ELAC . Also Elac would be better for movies as voices are much Defined, fuller and forward.
I had Kef R100 and Kef Q300, i heard kef ls 50 in a Shop, they are outstanding but if i had too choose i would buy the R100 again, its almost good as ls50 but 500€ cheaper, but its not a cheap Speaker is very well processed and the sound is almost as good s the ls50. If you want a little more bass then go get the R300 is still 200€ Cheaper then ls50 but the heights are better then the ls50 and the same bass
To be honest, I can't hear much difference between the three sets of speakers...I think it because of my headphones or amplifiers. Maybe I can save a lot of money on amplifiers and speakers compared to others. I like the Elac because of the price :)
I listened to the LS50 twice at different stores and still did not like the tone. The vocals sounded off like a strange echo around it but it wasn't natural. It's a sharp trebly speaker and you can clearly hear the hiss in those sssssss pronunciation very sharply in last Christmas. I bet it's fatiguing over long listening. From the video the Elacs sound like there's a bleed of bass into the mid-range. It's hard to say over TH-cam but it had the most bass and sounded like the vocals were a bit bass heavy. The Dynaudio sounded the most natural in the mids. I heard the excite 15 and they're smooth organic speakers with air and I bet it's no difference here. They lack bass and the hot treble of the LS50. They're the closest to the Rogers sound out of the three I think. Some people don't appreciate that cause it's more subdued and less colored.
Elac - resonant, boxy and coloured. Good bass output though. KEF - a bit thin, but detailed, a bit sharp in the highs. Dynaudio - more detailed bass, relaxed and not as forward as the KEF's and also not as sharpin the highs. Less resonant than the ELAC's. Would be Dynaudio for me of these three. Not the most impressive sound, but you could probably live happy with them for a long time. KEF's would get on my nerve with the sharp treble and the ELAC's are way to boomy and resonant for me.
i'm blown away how well you were able to transmit the behaviors of each speaker in a youtube video. the dyn's do literally murder the other 2 in real life and somehow you can even tell in the video but only if I listen to this on a reference system. If people listen to this on a phone you just can't tell. the ls50 isn't bad but it does that ahhhhh ! thing, just a little shrill that makes you go F&*^^&* mid song. the elac's i get as a budget speaker but man, with the $499 sales on martin logan motion 15s spend the extra on those if you're looking at elac and or a nice used B&W 600 series. what's wrong with the elac is very apparent A+B testing as you can hear here
One thing that this type of demo can't show, is the imaging and sound stage of the speakers. I'm sure when auditioned in person the KEF's will beat the other two in that aspect. Also, yes through this video the Elac sound really good, but perhaps that's because the amp you used was a better match with the Elacs than the KEF's.....people should take this things into consideration before making a decision to purchase one of this speakers.
Great test Thomas thank you -to me the ELAC bottom end and mid range sounds good but the highs sound a bit muddy. The KEF has a beautiful mid and top end while the Dynaudio has the best of both worlds and is clearly the best speaker (and it should be for the price). The choice between the KEF and ELAC is more difficult to pick a winner as it more depends on the sound you prefer-I myself think that the KEFs with a good Sub would be a good choice.
Thanks for this 2nd pass. Maybe I should start out by stating what I'm using. This is played via a Roku3 connected HDMI to a Sony STR-DN850 receiver, then through Polk Audio Model 40 series II speakers. I tried with and without my modified center channel which contains my crossover, 2 Peerless Tympany 5.25 mid bass drivers and the original Sony soft dome tweeter. I'm disclosing this because the equipment you're testing as well as the amplifiers used in each video, cost considerably more than what I'm using. Having said that, I find the 1st track is relatively close for me. All 3 speakers are totally liveable. When you're playing Last Xmas, the difference becomes significant to comment. The Elac is a good all around speaker. I'm sure if I was there the detail, balance, and depth would become more apparent. The KEF LS50 high frequency emphasis is significant in hearing her voice. There's actually too much sibilance with those speakers. The Dynaudio speakers bring forth a better balance here. The Star Wars cut further distinguishes the character of each speaker. Again, no real losers but the Dynaudio is fuller, richer, a cleaner image than either of the other two. The KEF loves triangles, doesn't it? I think room acoustics could be a deal killer with the KEF. If there were a lot of soft window treatments, soft furniture, then perhaps that high end could be constrained. One little nit-pick, when the Star Wars track started, it sounded like you were adjusting levels. A moment of somewhat quieter than normalized level. Thanks again. You do a good job in your personal reviews.
Yeah, I must have adjusted the Star wars track in the beginning. I remember it was getting late when I did the recording so I probably instinctively lowered the volume. The KEF have a lot of sibilance but partly is due to me driving the whole system with a Class D setup,. Once you pair it with the Mcintosh and the ifi tube2, it's pretty good. Thinking back, I should have done it that way when I did the sound recording because the Elac and KEF are way better with the mcintosh. Their top end is a bit bright with the Bel Canto. The Dyn however, works well with anything. Thanks for the feedback.
Based on this listen my ranking... The Dynaudio, the Kef and the Elac. But it's hard to make a proper evaluation over youtube. To really get a handle on the differences I need to hear them live in my own system and listening room for a few days. Back and forth A-B-ing speakers tends to reveal only tonal balance differences and can be confusing. To detect low level/inner detail, dynamic constrasts, soundstaging, freedom from distortion, etc., I need to listen each one over much longer periods of time. Long term listening reveals things that brief A-B testing misses.
Thank you such great sound test/comparison posting. Dynaudio is the most honest-reference sound in my listening. Bass extension is more refined with better decay, mids are clear and honest without color, highs are non-fatigue.
What’s evident is the ls50 has the smallest sound stage vs the elac however it’s a harder speaker to drive the Dynaudio seems to be the most revealing but least coherent. The elac is lively. I would love to see a 3 way against the elac, ls50 and tune tot. Three qualities that are evolutionary of speaker design elac (fun) ls50 (accurate) tune tot (transparent). It cost so much to go from fun to transparent:(.
Thomas, Much appreciated review. as we can see everyone will have a difference of opinion. I would also imagine depending on your headphones it will also vary. Since your sitting center stage would like to get your analysis
Hmm.... perhaps it's my aging ears, but to me the KEF sounded more like the sound I hear when I attend the symphony, i.e., the natural open highs on cymbals and violins. For a younger person with great hearing, maybe the KEF is too bright? And, I'm not sure why, but the Dyns just didn't seem to produce the delineation and natural sound of the instruments as much as the KEF.
The Dyn needs power to shine. At 100w with these amp, its a waste. The KEF, if it is the right brightness for you, then you will fall in the group of people who will love them.
I find that plastic drivers seem to have that effect of “missing something”. They are very damped and don’t have glaring peaks or resonance, but also seem to lack vibrancy. The Dynaudio is a bit better being modern tech, but still has this effect to a slight degree .
the high frequencies sounds better with the KEF , but overall the Dynaudio sounds the best . Did you got the chance to audition the Wharfedale diamond 225 ? Can I have your thought about them ? I am using Definitive technology Promonitor 1000 with Klipsch sub and thinking to get a good pair of Bookshelf speakers Thanks
I know , but youtube decode the sound changes in the same way from both speakers , and this video is to get others opinion and help to narrow your choices ,when you decide to choice between two or three models, then you have to go and audition the speakers
The LS50 has the most revealing and subtle sound (especially in the mid range), but, they are too expensive for me. So I will be getting the Elacs which has a a rich and full sound that is clearly designed to have a wide appeal. However their engaging, fun sound should be fine with most styles of music even though they lack the refinement of the LS50.
After listening a second time on my headphone system I have come to the conclusion that the Dynaudios are the most complete speaker in this line-up. The Elacs are fun but lacking a bit of refinement (compared to the other two which are naturally much more expensive ). The KEFs are lucid and revealing - especially the mids and highs. The Dynaudios however, combine the big scale of the Elacs with the mids and treble lucidity and refinement of the KEFs. At the time of listening to them I had no idea of how much they cost, but their price just above the KEFs seems fair given their more natural and engaging sound signature.
Wow..I’m just starting out and I’m trying to find a good basic set up for 1000-1500 usd..but everything I see and read makes the decision more difficult...thanks for your in depth videos..it’s been a help..sort of
KEF has the best lineallity, very natural sound.... the other two are very warm; this is, too punchy in the middle low, of course non hi-fi costumers would find that attractive
Andrew Jones some how does it right. I still miss my Pioneer FS speakers or even Book shelves .. To my ears they sounded better than SVS Primes ( I think I just like warmer sound ) . I am going back to his designed speakers with Elacs now :)

I am listening to your Elac Debut 6.2’s through my Elac Debut 6.2’s. I need to get a life.
Now that is funny!
Haha!
Hey guys I am new to hi fi world, looking forward to buy elac 6.2 any advice for the budget receiver . Thank you.

haahahahh
Thank you for presenting a speaker comparison in a realistic and thoughtful way. Well done!
elac has full sound specially the mids and smooth highs, kef's highs are somewhat thin and bright you can hear the sibilant when using headphones, dynaudio has very natural sound lows, mids and highs. so it would be.
Dynaudio

To think that the Kef’s has brighter high end than the Elacs is hard to buy. The harsh, brightness of the Elacs literally made me cringe, while both the Dynaudio much less and the Kefs not a single time.
@@johnbishop6890 Kefs seems hollow i have to assume, they're lacking in the mids.
I hope you didn't buy the Elac !!
It is no match to the KEF LS50. Chalk and cheese really.
All 3 are great speakers. Going to come down to personal preference, though I think I like the Elac's.
I LIKE THE ELACS BETER HAS A BETER SOUND OVERALL
@@mark17840 Actually vocals sound better on the Elac 5.2 than the 6.2.
For my ear,
B6.2: Bright treble, loudest but not clearest bass, voice was okay.
Ah nice, glad this video was 'interesting ' for you and best part is your did not know the price. Good idea not to read the comments first :)
Elac - good value loudspeakers but buy the other loudspeakers if you can afford
KEF - very interesting loudspeakers; you can make them sing really
Dynaudio - Shoot and forget style loudspeakers, they are not that interesting and impressive but you can't fail with them
S H interesting take.. I’m just starting out with my hi fi journey..why would anyone by the Dynaudio based on your critique..given the cost
Agreed on every point
Elac Debut 6.2 the best out of this three IMO.
Totally agree
I own the Elac b6.2. But I recently heard the LS50 in a store and found that it sounded better than the Elac. The mid to higher frequencies are rendered much better on the LS50. Maybe it's tuned to be slightly brighter.
I’d say it would be a tie between the KEF LS50’s and the ELAC B6.2’s especially with the clarity of the vocals!
instablaster
It's amazing how these Elacs can hang out and in many cases better the sound of the other much more expensive speakers!
I am planing on buying me another set of Elac B6.2 for my guest bedrooms and then I will try to buy the floorstanding Elac speaker!
what do you think about Klipsch RP600M?? (these are my 2 possibles!)
Elac is the winner with substantial mid-range and excellent bass.
nice, objective comparison. In the setup Dynaudio is the most engaged sound presentation with depth and tonal balance (like KEF doesn't have) and pretty good detail and dynamic (like ELAC doesn't have). cheers...
Glad you liked it!
Thank you sir! These type of videos are fun and I do hear slight differences in sound.
Although there is a limit to what I hear on TH-cam, Elac seems to be clearer and little bit more vivid....
I’m with Kef for detail,Ned to listen to the same music on all of them
In terms of tone and timber, the Elacs sounded the most realistic to actual instruments closely followed by Dynaudio. The Dynaudios excelled at soundstage width, depth and imaging with the Elacs a close second. The Kef was never in the game to my ears..wrong timber and poor imaging and not a great soundstage. Based on the price to performance ratio, the Elacs win.
Elac's you can hear the resonance of the snare better, its reveals much more of the snare than the Kef or Dyn on the first track
Elac: No.1
Dyn: No.2
Kef: No.3
To me.
Me too...
Cuong Nguyen Huu
I love Vietnam
I’m from south Việt Nam .
Really..I’m just starting to put together my first audiophile level system..everyone has recommended the Elacs ..but I found the KEF’s sounded better..more defined in the mids? It’s a learning process so it’s interesting to see other points of view
@@EsotericBreakfastBuffet sound is subjective, which ever sounds better to YOU, is the best.
Mazwell96 good point..thanks
Wow, nicely summarized. Yup, it;s exactly how I feel.
Did you mean to say that in this demo we are listening to you are using the Onix A55 and in the first video you are using your Class D amps? I'm just confused because I didn't think the Onix A55 was a Class D amp. Cheers.
Yes the first video Bel Canto was class D. Not this one, Sorry for the confusion.
the kef isn't so bright like many people said. with the right amplifer , like mine , marantz pm 8005, its a a great speakers, they already belong one of best in speakers history , you can listening everything inside of the music. if the music have bass, they will play, if not, they not play, the speakers dont have any kind of coloration , just pure sound.
It really is amp dependant, if you look at the comment section of my LS50 review, part say yes and part say no. I have tried on different amp and it's so different but overall it does lean on the brighter side. Which is a good thing if you like that kind of sound which I do.
one of the best flavour reverb on vokal was on dynaudio which cant finded on elac and kef...thats why dyn go for highend
elac for hifi
kef for hifi+
sorry for my bad english
Well done Thomas. Excellent sound projection on all three!! Cheers!
I will take keff ,.... more detail. according what I heard, but for price. Elac is the winner with no doubt.
Thanks, I really enjoyed. I heard differences -- not large by any means. I'm going to listen again using different speakers.
Thanks for doing this video! Even with a budget recorder like the tascam, I can hear vast differences.
Most accurate: Kef
Most forgiving and musical: Elac
most weird: dynaudio.
To my ears this short demo proves Elac is making quality audio for the masses!! Rock on Elac!!
Dynaudio Best of the Best!
Dynaudio the 1st of three with most natural sound.
Kef more crystal sound. Elac more energy sound. Dynaudio more atmospheric sound.
i love your channel bro, you are positioned in a higher class of audio i present, a bit to expensive for me...nice too see the way you present and using good microphones too
Thanks! I enjoy your channel too. You have a lot of subscribers!
Dynaudio the winner for me,the most balanced
Black Crow - KEF, Last Xmas - KEF, Star W - Elac.
Peter Phan I am lucky a nearby Best buy sells the bookshelves and center
@@peterphan227 give it to me as a gift...fr. philippines xD..
Dynaudio makes great speakers. I love how balanced and ‘boring’ they are compared to most other speakers. What sounds great or impressive in a listening session most of the time ends up to be irritating when you have to to listen to it for a longer time.
Same goes for women 😉
Yup, you are so right that you need to go for long listening session to really evaluate the speakers. :)
would love to see the Elacs go head to head with Klipsch RP600M...PLEASE!!
Thanks, I did make a few videos recently but no comparisons.
The Elac doesn't sound too natural, but it just does it for me, at least based on youtube demos.
I disagree, it's the only one that do not interpose any interpretation of the music.
Thanks for the kind comparison. I like and have the Elacs. All sound good.
I think they all sound very god but my personal preference is Kef LS50, better dynamic range, better imaging and instrument separation and more engaging sound in gereral
LUCAS BREA Kef is great
Dunno, if the kef q100 and up are better then the ls50 i would disagree. Have heard them all , up to the q350 vs a Dynaudio emit m20, and the m20 sounded way too good compared to all of kefs. Kef sounded less detaild, more muffled. Typicle english sound, i gues. You love it, or hate it.
Dynaudio sound is what my ears like.
The elacs treble was almost brittle as you surmised. Was least pleasant of the 3.
Could be the recording (first song) but the Elac's sound more dynamic, especially compared to the KEF's, and they sound more open and seem to display more of the recordings added ambience creating effects than Dynaudio. How it measures and if that can explain something i have no idea of..
Maybe it's like what I said in the review of the Debut 6, it's like adding reverb to the vocals and makes it sound good,.
But do you mean it ads stuff that isnt on the recording at all or does it unveil more of the effect just, perhaps by being bright or having a very very good driver?
it does not add, but maybe its the wide dispersion tweeter design that it makes it feel like.
У Кеф стереопанорма лучше, но Ютуб её не передаст.
Dynaudio for my ears.
Dynaudio is more comfortable for ears, other two little bit of noisy
forget the value..lets talk sound.
elac very accurate highs, full bodied mids.
ls50 sibilant highs i can hear it piercing in my in ear monitor
Dynaudio natural in all spectrum but slightly recessed.
cant differiantiate bet.the bass coz the song doesnt emphasize on the low end.
elac sounds more detailed to me.
Yooo, did not expect the Elac to sound that good!
I always wanted to try the Hegel H300 and H360. You should have a pretty good setup if you pair it with a Dyn.
Dynaudio sounds the most smooth. I could listen to that sound the longest
Elac came out clear and crispy with substance, KEF is the worst of the three, disregard their cost. And the punch, it’s the punch that counts, seems like missing in the contenders.
The KEF LS50 hype is a complete mystery to me. :p
LS50 requires a proper matching subwoofer (like REL) to make magic happen.
The Kef LS 50´s need more power, then they will show their true face :-) - those are my thoughts. Thanks!
yes, i have another video comparing all 3 with 500w of power amp.
th-cam.com/video/k5vSVCDDfww/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgznR70jN53VXmqRwnR4AaABAg
Вокал ласт крисмас на кeфах просто чудесный, какие обертона!
Also Elac would be better for movies as voices are much Defined, fuller and forward.
green smart led Kef her voice and the guitar was like in High definition while Elac was missing alot of detail. My vote is on KEF
Just bought FiiO K3 😁
Some people don't appreciate that cause it's more subdued and less colored.
just sent back my kef lsx for dynaudio xeo 20 and yes they are very natural, not sending these back.
100% agree, the dyn is the best speaker up there.
To me, open and detailed sound from Elac
i'm blown away how well you were able to transmit the behaviors of each speaker in a youtube video. the dyn's do literally murder the other 2 in real life and somehow you can even tell in the video but only if I listen to this on a reference system.
Insightful words from experience.
Dynaudio sounds the best. Which is very disconcerting because of the 3 that's the brand I've never heard of before.
All three are very close, at least for my ears. Elac being more affordable and front ported wins
Yup 100% agree.
It cost so much to go from fun to transparent:(.
most revealing but least coherent. LOL
I agree 100%, the sound of the KEF's were slightly more natural than the Elacs, but the Elac win easy simply because of the tremendous value.
Elac for the win for me. It has more presence.
That is the toughest comparison I've heard. I'm sitting on the fence 🤔
If that is the case, the Elac wins due to price. If we put actual performance aside. :)
The Dynaudios have better mid to hi balance especially on the orchestral star wars sound track. Vocals sounded personal more present as well.
ELAC by an easily discernible margin. Good Comparison.
Elac - clear winner, given the price
the high frequencies sounds better with the KEF , but overall the Dynaudio sounds the best .
Did you got the chance to audition the Wharfedale diamond 225 ? Can I have your thought about them ? I am using Definitive technology Promonitor 1000 with Klipsch sub and thinking to get a good pair of Bookshelf speakers
Thanks
Not yet, hard to find a diamond 225. I will if I come across one.
Thomas & Stereo thank you very much , I trust your opinion since you heard alot speakers and can define what is the best sounding speakers

Yeah, all 3 are excellent at it's price point.
Elac wins ! Vocals are so refined..
Great video! Some really great speakers demoed!
Wow..I’m just starting out and I’m trying to find a good basic set up for 1000-1500 usd..but everything I see and read makes the decision more difficult...thanks for your in depth videos..it’s been a help..sort of
KEF's seem to have the biggest sound.
