It's a 226mm diff. You had mentioned it's 230. It's about time you got the diff. I'd suggest dss axle shafts and upgrade your hubs too. You'll thank me later.
Great Video Bro , I Have A 300s 5.7 And I Noticed This Problem Thank You For Addressing It Not Sure What Tire Would Spin For You But For Me it Would Be The Right Passenger Side I %100 Agree With The 3.09 Gears Anyone With Doubts I Recommend To Take It You Will See The Performance .
It is an easy swap and there are no changes to the PCM required. It took my like 3 hours taking my time. Do you have the ESP disabled in your tune? There is also that ABS issues I haven't quite figured out yet when doing a burnout. The PCM will cut fuel if it detects excessive wheel spin. It is a similar issue to running on a dyno. I saw some post about pulling a certain ABS fuse to get past it. Have you heard anything about that?
HELL YES!!!! I agree it should come stock. That’s what I was hoping was in that box!!! You are darn right it’s going to change the game. Can’t ever hurt going new. Dude that’s going to be the best $1000 spent. You’ll have to get use to the rear end sliding out a little more on you but it will be worth it !!!
Yes !! Yes!!!! I found a new one online for a great price, and hope to order it next month. For us with stock engines and auto, the 3.09 is good because it doesn't need a trans tune. Congratulations.
Hell yeah!!! I knew what it was when I saw the box. My rear end came in the same box. That’s who I work for, for the past 16yrs. Fedex Freight that delivered it👍. Congrats man
Dude yes ! I legit just bought a 3.09 diff today! Can’t wait to install it on my R/T .. definitely can’t wait to see what it’s like with your mods !! 🔥🔥
Steve white good people I've bought a new 300 S and a 3500 Laramie dually hemi of course from them years back great to deal with and one of the most honest which is rare in the dealer world. lol any way that's awesome man gonna be a great addition to the beast !!! really enjoy you're content keepem coming !!!
It will also bolt directly on to a regular R/T. I put one on mine, no issues at all. I don’t have the 230mm axels i had the 2.62 open diff. Huge difference.
No BS... When I saw the box, I was saying to myself,”please be the the 3.09 LSD”! That is awesome, can’t wait to see it on Blue. I was thinking about doing this next!
You will love it. It's an improvement all around. On my 2019 RT, it was the first thing that I did. Car is completely stock. Even the wheels and tires were the 245's. It's made the car more fun and even safer and more fuel efficient. Before my car would slip when taking off from a stop sign in the rain, without even giving it much throttle. That was a bit annoying. I can't imagine what it would have been like in the winter. I'd probably have gotten my car stuck a few times. With the limited slip, I no longer have this. For performance, It had a few dead spots, some which sat around wherever you'd normally drive. This is gone and freeway on ramps are a lot more fun. I am able to launch from a dig harder. I have not tried doing a burnout, but from what I have seen, RT's make way bigger clouds. More comparable to the 392 since both tires are in use. My average MPG increased by 1 MPG. Not to mention that tire wear will be more even. All of this is on a 100% stock RT. I imagine that it will make an even bigger difference on your 397 stroker vs a stock car. You likely have a lot of power you are not feeling. Looking forward to seeing your review on it when putting it on a car that is as modded as yours. Also my stock RT has the 2.62 Open Diff. I swapped to the 3.09 LSD, and all I needed to change was the diff, nothing else. Not even a tune. Why Dodge didn't at least make this optional beats me. It's mandatory, even if you drive your car normally.
really glad to hear this! I agree Dodge should have done this right out of the gate for these 5.7L Hemi's. Thank you & I'm pumped to get this installed.
Nick Kjellman sounds like you did your homework, I wanted to ask, why did you choose the 3.09 instead of the 3.70? The reason I ask is I’ve considered doing the change myself on a 17 RT Challenger but don’t know what the difference is & what my car would benefit most from. I’ve tried looking up a couple reviews but can’t find much for a 3.70
Jair_49 if you’re car is an automatic the 3.70s are wayyy to low geared for the 8 speed and generally slows you down in the long run. And also makes you spin easier.
I love this car man you did everything perfect on it. Everybody I know has the scatpacks and hellcats but this is different. This car has a lot of personality and definitely still a sleeper even though it looks like it’s in full race car mode
Damn.....I didn't realize the road and track had 3.07 open. My 18 R/T has the super track pack but still a 2.62 open. I can't wait to put the 3.09 lsd in. I want it bad. Love the channel can't wait to see these results.
Everyone that has done this says the performance improved drastically - so I'm pumped to get this installed. Thank you for the support & plenty more to come. Keep on enjoying that Hemi!
The 1-8 gears are plenty aggressive. 1st gears still only gets you only 30 mph you wouldn’t want it any more aggressive IMO. You will still be doing 4 gear changes in a quarter mile (maybe 5 since you’ll be trapping allot higher than stock). So excited for ya
Can't wait to do mine. Probably next year if funds allow it. I'll be doing the same thing but with 3.23 gears. Dad axles, upgraded hubs and energy suspension polyurethane bushings. ;) Then a better driveshaft, higher stall converter too. Please show the install of this and some footage of the difference between old and new diff with some 1/8 mile pulls. I'm dying to see the differnces between the two given your engine mods (which will be somewhat followed on my car). I'm sure your 60 ft times will be cut by a decent amount. If you don't already have a set of drag radials, you'll need them once the new diff gets installed. Be sure to break it in gently for about 500-750 miles. Thanks for the vid. It was funny hearing your reaction to the delivery. Sounded giddy. Be well my friend.
Congrats on the diff.. you will not regret it.. I got it done in my Daytona 5.7.. lol.. I had 2.65 gears or something stock.. direct bolt on.. no tuning required! Your video editing is awesome .. 👌👍What is the song you used with your drone shots and drive byes in the end? Also 3.70 and 3.90 gears require tcm tuning..and will hurt your gas mileage...3.09 are perfect!
Nice! Really glad to hear positive feedback on this. I really appreciate the support - the song in this video is here th-cam.com/video/sDiOIFnhxYg/w-d-xo.html

R/T, I love you videos. You learn from suggestions, but you excel from experience. I've learned a lot about my R/T Charger from watching you. M.O.B (mod on brother).
You are my inspiration. I truly am getting my 345 in order. I see your hood. AWESOME. I want this hood but I truly want the scat pack hood. Do you know if they will fit equally?
I'm kinda in the same boat different ocean justin from Dr differential speed shop and I broke the timing chain cover off the rebuilt engine I just purchased everything was In Fact replaced but.....the timing chain..!.!. So I will be ordering one tomorrow...smh...
Oh man !! Good for you that will definitely help getting off the line and thanks for the exhaust drive bye's at the end I just love the way your car sounds can't get enough I bet it sounds even better in person .
I didn't know that RT had open diffs I got a 2012 charger Pursuit everytime I light them up both tires spin... but very nice car you have I love watching your videos
Hey as long as both tires are spinning you're good. Didn't seem like an issue for me until recently - to much power now I guess for open diff. Keep on enjoying that Hemi
Another great mod !!! You never run out of ideas brotha, cant wait to see how the install goes. Ran against a few RTs with that mod and definitely there is a difference in acceleration
found out about this super late, after having my rear differential bust open after peeling out. rear differential busted open and pieces flew on the highway, just to have dodge say I abused my vehicle! haven't ordered a new one but I will soon.
Damn I already knew it. R/T + Mopar Box = LSD Because lets be honest, there’s nothing much else that would be Mopar direct. Can’t wait to see your reaction and be convinced that it’ll be my next mod.
Nice build! Aside from the RT, I was wondering if you'd like to do a video about your wife's Jeep, now months after you traded the SRT and compare as much as you can the two, the ride quality, fun factor, cost of ownership, reliability. Thanks!
Do those/your car have the ESC partial off option? Mine is of course different being AWD but I find in the partial off setting I never one wheel peal. That the "Brake Lock Differential" function that is still on during partial off does a good job keeping both spinning. I'm torn on the idea of getting a LS diff, on mine the ESC does a fantastic job of torque vectoring, specifically applying more power/speed to the outside rear wheel by braking the inside rear wheel. A LS diff would hamper that ability.
So what it actually improves, and why by default "open differential" comes with the car? I am looking at this from "stuck in snow / start on icy road" point of view.
I installed one recently only thing that went bad was my old drive shaft was frozen to my diff and it got damaged in the process. Went with a single piece drive shaft lol
And thats 1 of the reasons why i upgraded to my scat but the computer manages the toruqe well enough on the r/t i didnt notice till i try to do a burnout
I know where you shot this video! I really enjoy the content! I'm on my 3rd charger and I just got my first Hemi. 2020 Daytona R/T! Keep up the great work! P.S.- I love taking rides past the light house but watch out for cops 👮♂️ they like to use aircraft on that strip.
I keep seeing that the 2015 RT R&T has the 307 LSD. Yours should have had it too, why go to a 309? I have the same 15 RT R&T also. Love the car and channel, keep up the good work.
To get maximum speed if you're in drive mode, than switch over to manual mode... when you downshift to about 3rd or 4th gear is it better to use the paddle shifters up shifting yourself or will you get better and faster to switch back to drive mode and let the computer upshift for you?
That diff will be a big difference for you man! Launching with an open diff is not fun, my old Firebird was like that. It should greatly improve your times when you go to the track next. Not all R/T's come with open diffs though. If your car is a Challenger that came with the track pack you'll have 3.91's with a limited slip diff. If your car was a track pack car with 18" wheels it would have 3.73's with a LSD. I can say though I honestly don't know if they offered the same track pack in the Charger lineup, as there's definitely no manual option and a few differences between the 2 lineups.
yah you're right about the manual challengers having LSD. I believe all Charger RT though get the open diff. I got the track pack with higher gearing but it was still open. Really looking forward to seeing how this does
Congrats man, & it's about time! Definitely better to get a new one, as you never know what you might get with a used one. Could have stress cracks or things off that nature. Next step would be to upgrade your axles.
@@RTLife I hear ya man. I'm glad that the R/T Chally doesn't have that problem, out at least mine doesn't. Still plan to "upgrade" my diff down the line, along with the axles; but for now I'm getting my Flowmaster exhaust fitted & welded tomorrow. Then I can send it to Jet-Hot for coating. 😈
U r gonna love it but make sure u disconnect battery after install for 20 min to reset trans computer, i didn't do it a first and it drove horrible loud noises etc.
You should have went with a 3:73 gearing, you can adjust the gear ratio a little bit by using taller or shorter tires. Using a 373 gear ratio and going up to a 29 in tire will not only give you more hookup it would drop your effective gear ratio to about a 3:45... Which is almost a perfect compromise between launch and top end
I very much disagree, for a street car with an automatic once you have the ability to reliably break traction on demand then lower gears only cause driveabilty, efficiency, reliability, and high speed problems.
R/T Life You and Mr. Lou installing the Unlocked Diablo PCM was the first Video I came across on your channel. Been hooked ever since! Can’t wait for this 3.09 LSD review!
@@RTLife super curious myself....been wanting it since I got my RT in July of '18. Held off initially because I was reading they wouldn't interchange with the 220 axles. Then after awhile more started stating the ZF axles interchanged on the '15 and up cars regardless of axles. The first set I got about a year ago from Rockauto were damaged in transit and were sent back by the shipper and needless to say they were the last set RA had and I had to get a refund instead of a replacement. So I'm super stoked I finally got a set in my garage ready to install. Will prob be a month or so before I get some time off from work to do the install. I expect a noticeable difference since I currently have the 2.62 open.
I have a 2016 R/T Hemi 370. Will this part fit my vehicle? Are you also upgrading to a hellcat shaft? Would love to see your numbers when install. Awesome car, great job. Thanks.
Finally got the new rear huh? Good for you! It makes a difference! Of course it'll just help you transform your tires into fluffy white clouds! LOL! Call or text me if you need any help with the install and I can talk you through it. Don't forget the 2 upper bolts can not come out of the frame cause of the spare tire well.
@@RTLife Did you see Demonology latest video, he is interviewing the product manager for Whipple Superchargers, they are going to release a new generation of superchargers for the 5.7/6.4 Hemi's.
Great buy man!!! I have a 2018 R/T and can’t wait to hear your thoughts after the install!!! Thinking of buying this myself. Do you think something like this would void warranty? It’s a Mopar part so I would think we would be okay right?
I don't think they will bother you about doing this - you should double check though. It's a Mopar product & a direct bolt on. Will have this installed ASAP - def looking forward to seeing the results.
I remember a time when a certain someone said they didnt want to do a lsd. Btw, I am saying this without watching the video or reading comments. That how confident I am in this guess. Now to press play...
@@RTLife it is a good chunk of change to spend when it dont really add much performance, I get it man. I'm glad you got one, your gonna love every second of it.
Inflation is a mf - that same part with link that DonnyR/T posted has it at over $1k now for a limited slip diff. I searched for a while online and the cheapest used one I could find in good condition was about $890. Still got it cause I plan to Hellion TwinTurbo my car eventually and it’ll be needed for the power, but still crazy to see in just a year.

Putting forced air on this is going to be a lot of fun! have to start saving up
Another piece of the puzzle. Keeping focused. Awesome!
Yah def a nice upgrade - we will see how it plays out. Thanks man
Did a burn off with my 09 rt and left both tire Marks pretty black but one was just alittle darker. Hope I dont get that one wheeler peeler prob
So will this fit a 2012 R/T???
found out about this super late, after having my rear differential bust open after peeling out. rear differential busted open and pieces flew on the highway, just to have dodge say I abused my vehicle! haven't ordered a new one but I will soon.
Damn man, sorry to hear that. Def go with the limited slip
BEST PART OF THE VIDEO...WAS THE SLIPPERS LOL....GOOD VIDEO AS ALWAYS
hahahaha! siting around the house is starting to get me lazy lol. Thanks man
I own a Challenger R/T six speed with LSD. I was completely unaware the Charger R/T’s didn’t have LSD. NO BUENO
yah it's not fun having 1 wheel trying to get you going - to much torque for that off the line
Manual Challengers get LSD. Not sure if it was an option on the automatics
Like button mashed in SC. Gotta Love Steve White Motors.
Steve White Motors is a solid company - very helpful. Thank you for the support
The 3.09 lsd is beast I love it man congrats Brutha enjoy 💯🔥
Thanks man! Can't wait to get this installed
Nice pick up. I guess the LSD is one more benefit of getting a Scat or Hellcat over a R/T. Helps justify the higher price.
yah these upgrades start adding up - def a big advantage having that LSD
Damn I already knew it. R/T + Mopar Box = LSD Because lets be honest, there’s nothing much else that would be Mopar direct. Can’t wait to see your reaction and be convinced that it’ll be my next mod.
hahaha this upgrade was long overdue! Def looking forward to getting this installed - thanks man
Can I use this differential for a 2014 5.7 Charger?
That's what I've been searching
I believe my 2020 RT Plus Shaker 6 speed manual already has a 390 gear...
Nice build! Aside from the RT, I was wondering if you'd like to do a video about your wife's Jeep, now months after you traded the SRT and compare as much as you can the two, the ride quality, fun factor, cost of ownership, reliability. Thanks!
I think a follow up on the Jeep is a solid idea. Thank you for the idea
I have a 2015 charger R/T not the road and track package (even tho rt stands for road and track lol) but do you think it would bolt right up to mine.?
I would call/message Steve White Motors - he can confirm. That's what I did
The 3.09 will
It will work with the 220mm axles as well.
So what it actually improves, and why by default "open differential" comes with the car? I am looking at this from "stuck in snow / start on icy road" point of view.
Awesome. My wife would have gone with 2.91 or 2.65s but that's her style. She likes the gears that the state troopers use! Lol
hahaha
I installed one recently only thing that went bad was my old drive shaft was frozen to my diff and it got damaged in the process. Went with a single piece drive shaft lol
How has that new drive shaft treated you?
@@RTLife I'm still waiting for it to arrive lol
And thats 1 of the reasons why i upgraded to my scat but the computer manages the toruqe well enough on the r/t i didnt notice till i try to do a burnout
Upgrading to a 392 is a solid idea - it has many of this in place already. Either way, I'm glad to finally be upgrading this now. Hope it helps!
I’m so late! I’m going to purchase this for my Magnum R/T! I definitely need it!
RT Nice upgrade . Next supercharger .
Yup! That is the next upgrade - need to start saving
Really looking forward to seeing how this does
awesome cant wait to see results
will be going on soon - def pumped
Smashed the like button 👍
Thanks man for the support
Congrats man, & it's about time! Definitely better to get a new one, as you never know what you might get with a used one. Could have stress cracks or things off that nature. Next step would be to upgrade your axles.
yah man it's def over due! The power I have now has really made this a must
@@RTLife I hear ya man. 😈
How can I figure out what diff I have? I put in on the lift and was looking at it but didn’t find any stamps.
U r gonna love it but make sure u disconnect battery after install for 20 min to reset trans computer, i didn't do it a first and it drove horrible loud noises etc.
Thank you for the heads up on that - after install I will make sure to give that a try if any issues pop up.
Your going to enjoy this. I have had good results with Steve White
yah many seem to have good results going with him, so I figured why not. Def pumped
All challenger six speeds come with a 3.92 ls rear diff stock I believe. Nice mod.
Def looking forward to seeing how much it helps - thanks man
You should have went with a 3:73 gearing, you can adjust the gear ratio a little bit by using taller or shorter tires.
Not with the A8..
With the 8 speed the 3.09 gears are plenty.
Does anyone have a diff recommendation for my older Nag 1? I would like a limited slip but I'm happy with the stock gearing
When you do your install and review you should totally bring back Mr. Lou and get his reaction!!! That would be legendary! 🙏🏻🔥
hahah Lou would crap his pants! I enjoyed doing videos with him - he was great.
R/T Life You and Mr. Lou installing the Unlocked Diablo PCM was the first Video I came across on your channel. Been hooked ever since! Can’t wait for this 3.09 LSD review!
I should have a video up this weekend - thanks man for supporting the channel.
Dude so excited to see what your car will do with the LSD you’ll love it. I put a 3.92LSD in mine back in October
It made a big difference on the launching. If I wasn't going supercharger I would have went with shorter gearing like you
@@RTLife if everything pans out the way I have it planned I’ll be doing a supercharger late next year and dropping the gear to a 3.73
Hey should I get a higher gear lsd for my ‘21 RT or stick with getting a 3.09?
Bad Ass RT N Yes The 3.09 Gears New Are Around 1K But Man They Are Something .
Yah it's a pricey upgrade but def needed! Thank you
Yeah!!! New pumpkin gears!!! Woo!!! XD. Deff. on my mod list! Stay safe and always love your content!
Looking forward to getting this on & providing feedback - should help the RT!
One question????? What gears do I need to make my axle differential faster.....
I’m pretty sure that the supper track pack rt’s come with a lsd but I got mine used so I’m not sure if the previous owner did it
The only 5.7 Charger/Challenger I know of that cames with limited slip is manual Challenger
Oh yea mine is a manual challenger thanks for the information
Got mine from Summit last week. Awaiting installation. 🙂
Let me know what you think after installed - I hear it's a massive difference
Hey man, new fan of your channel. Great vids! I was thinking of getting this lsd for my challenger, do you remember what the install cost was?
My 2006 6.1 hemi has open differential don’t you have to change the driveshaft wheel hubs Half shaft my 392 hooks good
Not with my RT - it's a direct replacement. We will find out though when installation day rolls around
can't wait for the up coming install videos
def pumped to get this in - long overdue
If you didn't want to go forced induction, you have went with a higher gear. I have a 2019 rt and its a daily and don't plan on going supercharger.
Check out 3.90 or 3.70 type of gearing - will bring a lot of performance down low
one. my RT burns both tires when in sport mode... but.. i want to know more about your exhaust...
WOW I'm really on the edge of this too lmk if you have 220 axles and driveshaft and if it works out
I def can't wait to get this in
T694 R/T it works with the 220mm axles and driveshaft
@@DonnySRT yup.. direct bolt on in my 5.7 Daytona that has 220 axles.. go for it!
@@DonnySRT thanks I also watched your video thanks
I have a 2016 R/T Hemi 370. Will this part fit my vehicle? Are you also upgrading to a hellcat shaft?
Would love to see your numbers when install. Awesome car, great job. Thanks.
You have a 2016 Challenger RT with 3.70 gearing?
Dodge Charger R/T 370HP
Yes this will fit your RT - will make sure while launching both tires are spinning. Can't wait to get this installed - thank you for the support
So are you going to add the launch control
This has launch control built in
Finally got the new rear huh? Good for you! It makes a difference! Of course it'll just help you transform your tires into fluffy white clouds! LOL!
Call or text me if you need any help with the install and I can talk you through it. Don't forget the 2 upper bolts can not come out of the frame cause of the spare tire well.
Thanks man! Yah I'm pumped to get this installed. Should help a ton launching & with accelerations
Need an about time button to smash...can't wait for a install video. 👍
hahaha so damn true!
I was right!!!! Looks just like mine!
I just wasn't ready to spend the money! Def a must do, esp as you continue adding power. You did it right out the gate which was a solid move
@@RTLife it is a good chunk of change to spend when it dont really add much performance, I get it man. I'm glad you got one, your gonna love every second of it.
@@AVGJoesGarage what kind of break in procedure did you do for it ?
@@saulcruz9024 500 miles of easy driving
Hi, could you tell me where did you buy the front Bumper lip spoiler or any link? Thanks
Yeah this something I want to do as well, but money is tight right now. In due time though!
What was the front bumper set up? Was it a splitter
Do u think the computer will have any issues? Assuming that was Jones Beach Lighthouse.
Shouldn't have any issues - I will report back any problems etc.
