Ever since I learned about the Khasa Kingdom and looked up the Khasa people who stayed in far-western Nepal, I’ve always wondered how (like the Mongol Khans) they transitioned from looking mostly East Asian to south. Your video was very insightful.

There are more the one clans of Malla dynasties in Nepal, the one you're referring to are of Mithila origin from southern Nepal who migrated to Nepal due to their kingdom's destruction by the Delhi sultanate, they are now part of the Newar ethnic group of Nepal. Khasa Malla's have a different origin and were already present in far western part of Nepal around the same time and now belong to the thakuri ethnic groups. There is a hestorical mention of an even older group of Malla's from western hills of Nepal during the period of king Manadeva along side the Kirats of the Eastern Hills. The word Malla means a Wrestler in Pali and Sanskrit this word was adopted as a title or to describe an attribute of a group of people during ancient times which in time developed into a rulers Moniker.

Nepalese already had prosperous civilizations when Tibetans were living nomadic and barbaric lives. Nepalese Himalayan foothills were far more suitable for settlements than dry tibetan plateau so most of the current Mongoloid race Nepalese ethnic groups bypassed Tibet and settled in Nepal after travelling from East or central Asia. Current Tibetan civilization is very new and just formed around 7th century after Buddhism and civilizational elements like scripts were introduced there

I see that lot of people are debating whether the khas are tibetans or indo-europeans. Khas people are definitely indo-europeans but their migration eastward happened through central asia from where they entered western tibet and nepal, where they ruled on both sides. Khas is a mixed race civilization just like Nepa: valley civilization. Khas language is of indo-european origin but in Khas civilization some western tibetans were integrated as well. Later after the decline of Buddhism and flourishing of Hinduism, Khas became hindu and hence were seperated in caste based system. Many of the bahun and chettri have east-asian features as well, mainly Chettri of northern khasan. The masto culture of Khas bahun and chhetri seem to be influence of tibetan bon religion as well, Khas country was a part of Zhangzhung empire which was the Tibetan empire with Bon as major religion.

Momo is both a Nepali and Tibetan dish. Both are different despite both being dumplings. While it is true the concept of momo did come from tibet, tibetan momo is made of yak mean and flavoured with salt and has a very thick dough around it (historically it was the food of travellers). Nepalese momo is smaller and has thinner dough and is made of Buffalo, chicken or vegetables and flavoured with the spices of south asia. The momo the tibetan refugees claim as their own are in fact Nepalese momo. Cry about it.

@@Lol69HahaFuniyeah dumplings shaped like momo are found all over Asia but the momo that's popular today in Himalayan belt, Indian subcontinent and over the world is the Nepalese version. @@Lol69HahaFuni you got things wrong, Momo that Himalayan region (including those in India, Bhutan and Bangladesh) people eats are also made of thin dough and are of different meats and vegetables. They consider it good momo when it’s full of juice or soap. They prefer spices at side just like how they consume their meat and because spices are rare in those times. But it doesn’t make it Nepali just because you add some spice to it. Spices are abundant in Nepal at those times and all its food have spices in it so why consume it separate. Shape of momo is exactly that of other Tibetan food like fried meat bun (sha bhaklap) but there are no Nepali food of that shape!! We in Canada eat our food with less spice. So some of Nepali food we eat are Canadian now because we eat it with less spice ? Nonsense!!!
