Great video! I'm happy they finally decided to release the rest of Courage on DVD, but it sucks that they're not putting as much effort into these as they should be. There's absolutely no incentives to get the DVDs, other than the fact that they're physical copies of the shows, and they're very barebones like you said. It's obvious that they're only concerned about getting the DVD out, instead of also focusing on cool additives for the consumers. They're digging themselves into a deep hole, and they won't get out until they become more consistent and improve the quality of their releases.

I think the "Cartoon Cartoon" branding really started in 1997, with the debuts of "Johnny Bravo", "Cow and Chicken", and "I Am Weasel", since "Dexter" was a *lone* Cartoon Cartoon in 1996.
Animaniacs volume 3: released in 2007 Animaniacs volume 4: released in 2013 Six long years of waiting for volume 4! And then after that, they finally released the movie on DVD.
Not only that but check out the prices for Season 1 of Ed Edd n Eddy now that they discontinued it...selling for well over a hundred dollars. Absolutely insane! You know they don't give a crap when they pull a stunt like that. And Season 2 of Foster's has the same treatment.

Yeah, Cartoon Network's DVD schedule is very poor. The only shows they have actually completed so far are The Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Samurai Jack. They're about halfway done with Foster's Home though, and for some reason they have continued releasing Adventure Time seasons even this far down the line even though they never air it. I'm not complaining but it's just odd. :\

you know what nick did to my boy Jimmy neutron? they released all 3 seasons on dvd... IN AUSTRALIA ONLY. Then they made a complete collectors box set. IN EUROPE ONLY. So what did us Americans get? A BEST OF DVD for all 3 seasons. Not the complete season, just a best of. Yeah I know I can get it digitally but physical media is easier to obtain for me, and cheaper.

There are currently two Steven Universe DVDs. Each one contains 12-13 episodes. The first story arc (Mirror Gem to Full Disclosure) has like 50 episodes that come before it, which are vital to understanding future episodes. So many episodes have been cut out that the first story arc makes very little sense, and only like 4 of the episodes in the arc are included. As of April 2017, there are over 150 episodes and only around 24 are on DVD. Fuck.
I know this is an old video but I wanted to say something. I think what bothers me most is ya know fine they'll only offer it to us on digital but the prices are insane. Especially considering there are no extras. Most places you can't even download the file for say your plex server, you can do that with iTunes but you have to do some stuff to remove the DRM. I mean because DVDs go down in price, I can get the complete series of something like Angry Beavers which has a couple seasons for the same price as one season of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy or Ed Edd n Eddy. So if they lowered the prices to say like 5 - 10 dollars a season and let you download the files without all that dumb DRM stuff I wouldn't beg for DVDs so much.

I don't get why Cartoon Network themselves can't just give the rights to some of their, if not all their best shows to Shout! Factory so that they can be made into really nice DVD sets? I love Shout! Factory's Nickelodeon Nicktoons sets! I own the set for CatDog and I love it. Cartoon Network, If they aren't going to bother putting the older shows on separate DVD's and continue what CN have not bothered to update and then finish, then they should at least give the rights to Shout! Factory. They have been getting on my nerves with their prolonged DVD releases. I just can't understand how they aren't even trying anymore. If Cartoon Network are going to be so stingy and take forever to continue follow ups with their older shows DVD's/Box sets too, then I have lost all respect in them as a Network. Christina Miller is terrible for the company and needs to go. There is nothing good to watch on the network and this is all getting out of hand. I've been done with CN for awhile. They were my favorite network for cartoons. Now, they are a joke! One of my favorite shows is My Gym Partners a Monkey, and you can't even get anything on DVD for that show, unless you buy the Cartoon Network Fridays DVD, I think. Which I have yet to aquire, but I will. Also what about Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, Fosters, Class of 3000, I am Weasel, Cow and Chicken, Chowder, Flapjack, etc?? None of them have slip cover for season 3 and 4. Mine Season 1 does not have a slip cover. I hate it. It just so freaking awful. They could also add 2014 special, you know. This show is legendary, why they could not just have promos and other stuff?

Cartoon Network has always seemed to have a weird fetish for Courage. They reran the show consistently all the way up until 2014, while most of the older Cartoon Network shows didn't even have reruns for a lot of that time. Courage then aired reruns on Boomerang while all of the other Cartoon Cartoons were gone from the channel during the rebrand. It's also the only Cartoon Cartoon (excluding The Powerpuff Girls) to have its entire series on DVD.
Well, Ed Edd n Eddy aired on CN until 2014 as well, but not as consistently. I remember it became a bit of a tradition for the network to air it during the summertime up until 2014 or 2015.

I know Nick does way better they released Spongebob Avatar and Korra. Shout Factory has released Hey Arnold Catdog Rocko's Modern Life Angry Beavers Ahh Real Monsters and Wild Thornberrys. Amazon has released alot of shows like Rugrats and Fairly Oddparents. Even things like the live action show My Brother and me which was a flop and only made 13 episodes CN needs to do better

I just began buying some of my old childhood favorites from nickelodeon since they started releasing the complete series of them at Walmart, to include Rocko's Modern Life and Hey Arnold. I'd love to buy like Ed Edd, n Eddy and some of the other ones.
quality reasons more than likely those video files are in 480i or even smaller there is no program out there free or otherwise that can beat a upscaled DVD on a blu ray player or a DVD player upscaler.
I definitely agree. Cartoon Network nowadays with DVD releases it pisses me off because often you can't get most of the shows physically complete and it irks me. I honestly would love it if Ed Edd N Eddy had a complete series DVD Boxset. Hell, even if it had no bonus features I buy it because I love me that show. Or hell, another example CODE Name Kids Next Door. Haven't watched that show in years but I would definitely buy a boxset of Code Name Kids Next Door if it came out. And honestly, even without the bonus features I still buy those DVD sets because I would want to watch those shows again. The problem is, Cartoon Network doesn't seem to understand this with their older shows and thus it's almost a rarity when an individual season even comes out let alone the entire series. I mean come on Cartoon Network are you kidding me? Come on, you seem to release the Adventure Time and Regular Show seasons fine why can't you do the same for your older shows? Hell, Nick with Shout Factory is doing a better job with that because I have at least access to 95% of their older shows minus some handful exceptions. Honestly at this point I might as well just go on Amazon and go buy this stuff digitally because at least there it's more consistent. I know that physical media in itself is dying but I personally like to get stuff physically still... And hell, at least with TV Shows you get extra content when investing money in that physical copy. Take for instance, The Legend Of Korra Blu Ray sets. From what I know all the episodes have Audio commentaries,they have some behind the scenes stuff with the creators, staff team and so on, one of them has the shorts on there and so on. Honestly, i'm with you, I love it when that kind of stuff is added. It would definitely make me understand and contexualize how everything gets planned out and how they manage to do it. And honestly, that's one dis-advantage to digital media I know. 95% of the time you don't get that stuff on the digital copy. It just sucks to think that there could be a day where all we get in the future is just the vanilla content. Though yeah, all that aside I do agree with the video overall.:)

Did CN had a budget cuts ever since like 2010 or so? Like I notice how some shows art style looks cheap and has that same similar art style of Adventure Time. I just wish that CN would put more money into those shows. It's like they don't even care about those cartoons and just want more money. I mean, just look at the reboots example. I don't get why Cartoon Network themselves can't just give the rights to some of their, if not all their best shows to Shout! Factory so that they can be made into really nice DVD sets? I love Shout! Factory's Nickelodeon Nicktoons sets! I own the set for CatDog and I love it. Cartoon Network, If they aren't going to bother putting the older shows on separate DVD's and continue what CN have not bothered to update and then finish, then they should at least give the rights to Shout! Factory. They have been getting on my nerves with their prolonged DVD releases. I just can't understand how they aren't even trying anymore. They won't make a profit off of anything but TTG and Christina Miller knows damn well that older fans like me and many other people don't like their "We just don't care about our older content. Just use the app and don't say anything!" Seriously, Cartoon Network, without all your old content, you wouldn't be able to get away with what you do today. At least give the rights to your older shows for fans like us who would love to own physical formats of the older cartoons you made. Heck, I'm still waiting for box sets for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, MAD and even Chowder. There are many people who'd prefer other shows and I believe every fan of the shows deserve to have DVD released sets for those shows too. I don't know why Ed, Edd and Eddie still haven't been able to get more dvd's made for the rest of the seasons. Or even Johnny Bravo? Courage The Cowardly Dog got a box set, but even that was pretty bare bones for what it is. I would know because I have the set and there is no Chicken From Outer Space in that set, nor is there any special feature commentary by John R. Dilworth. I am a big fan of his work. I would have liked to have that in the set. If Cartoon Network are going to be so stingy and take forever to continue follow ups with their older shows DVD's/Box sets too, then I have lost all respect in them as a Network. Christina Miller is terrible for the company and needs to go. There is nothing good to watch on the network and this is all getting out of hand. And the former channel of Cartoon Network and all it used to offer, compared to what it has become is a big huge disappointment! How sad.

I've been done with CN for awhile. They were my favorite network for cartoons. Now, they are a joke! One of my favorite shows is My Gym Partners a Monkey, and you can't even get anything on DVD for that show, unless you buy the Cartoon Network Fridays DVD, I think. Which I have yet to aquire, but I will. Also what about Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, Fosters, Class of 3000, I am Weasel, Cow and Chicken, Chowder, Flapjack, etc?? I love all of these shows and you can't get anything! its irritating! Plus CN's content is crap, now! CN get your shit together, please!

None of them have slip cover for season 3 and 4. Mine Season 1 does not have a slip cover. I hate it. It just so freaking awful. They could also add 2014 special, you know. This show is legendary, why they could not just have promos and other stuff?

Cartoon Network has always seemed to have a weird fetish for Courage. They reran the show consistently all the way up until 2014, while most of the older Cartoon Network shows didn't even have reruns for a lot of that time. Courage then aired reruns on Boomerang while all of the other Cartoon Cartoons were gone from the channel during the rebrand. It's also the only Cartoon Cartoon (excluding The Powerpuff Girls) to have its entire series on DVD.

Well, Ed Edd n Eddy aired on CN until 2014 as well, but not as consistently. I remember it became a bit of a tradition for the network to air it during the summertime up until 2014 or 2015.

I know Nick does way better they released Spongebob Avatar and Korra. Shout Factory has released Hey Arnold Catdog Rocko's Modern Life Angry Beavers Ahh Real Monsters and Wild Thornberrys. Amazon has released alot of shows like Rugrats and Fairly Oddparents. Even things like the live action show My Brother and me which was a flop and only made 13 episodes CN needs to do better

I just began buying some of my old childhood favorites from nickelodeon since they started releasing the complete series of them at Walmart, to include Rocko's Modern Life and Hey Arnold. I'd love to buy like Ed Edd, n Eddy and some of the other ones.

quality reasons more than likely those video files are in 480i or even smaller there is no program out there free or otherwise that can beat a upscaled DVD on a blu ray player or a DVD player upscaler.
I definitely agree. Cartoon Network nowadays with DVD releases it pisses me off because often you can't get most of the shows physically complete and it irks me. I honestly would love it if Ed Edd N Eddy had a complete series DVD Boxset. Hell, even if it had no bonus features I buy it because I love me that show. Or hell, another example CODE Name Kids Next Door. Haven't watched that show in years but I would definitely buy a boxset of Code Name Kids Next Door if it came out.
And honestly, even without the bonus features I still buy those DVD sets because I would want to watch those shows again. The problem is, Cartoon Network doesn't seem to understand this with their older shows and thus it's almost a rarity when an individual season even comes out let alone the entire series. I mean come on Cartoon Network are you kidding me? Come on, you seem to release the Adventure Time and Regular Show seasons fine why can't you do the same for your older shows?
Hell, Nick with Shout Factory is doing a better job with that because I have at least access to 95% of their older shows minus some handful exceptions. Honestly at this point I might as well just go on Amazon and go buy this stuff digitally because at least there it's more consistent. I know that physical media in itself is dying but I personally like to get stuff physically still... And hell, at least with TV Shows you get extra content when investing money in that physical copy.
Take for instance, The Legend Of Korra Blu Ray sets. From what I know all the episodes have Audio commentaries,they have some behind the scenes stuff with the creators, staff team and so on, one of them has the shorts on there and so on. Honestly, i'm with you, I love it when that kind of stuff is added. It would definitely make me understand and contexualize how everything gets planned out and how they manage to do it. And honestly, that's one dis-advantage to digital media I know. 95% of the time you don't get that stuff on the digital copy.
It just sucks to think that there could be a day where all we get in the future is just the vanilla content. Though yeah, all that aside I do agree with the video overall.:)

Did CN had a budget cuts ever since like 2010 or so? Like I notice how some shows art style looks cheap and has that same similar art style of Adventure Time. I just wish that CN would put more money into those shows. It's like they don't even care about those cartoons and just want more money.
I mean, just look at the reboots example. It proofs that CN doesn't even care and just show Teen Titans Go more often. I just miss that feeling of cartoons were true cartoons and not showing cheap flash animation known as Teen Titans Go.
