I had these a long time ago when I started playing drums. I even recorded a bit with them. They sound totally competent, especially the hi-hats. The ride has some odd overtones, but for someone just starting on drums, these sound great. When I bought them (like over 15 years ago), they were the cheapest cymbals I could find. And definitely sounded better than the entry level Zildjians at the time.
I agree. But now with the Zildjian I series, I feel like Zildjian’s entry level cymbals have taken a big step. What are your thoughts on the I series compared to these?
I've played some dog-ass awful cymbals in my day, just starting out...these cymbals sound soooooooo good in comparison. Really nice! And I agree with others who commented that you recorded these well. Most videos sound terrible and make the cymbals sound like pie tins.
A little over five years later and the drums and cymbals in this recording sound like they could be samples from a modern midi device. Great recording, and thanks for doing justice to the Sabian B8 series! The 14" B8 Hi-Hats and 18" B8 Crash/Ride were what I consider to be my first quality cymbals. I still use them at shows to this day. I got them used so I didn't get that Crash but it sounds good, and practical. I have yet to find a crash/ride, or plain ride, that I'd be willing to replace it with because it's so gentle and warm for subtle Jazz style playing with wire brushes, yet so explosive on its edge for Rock style playing. It's very sensitive. The Hi-Hats would be easier for me to replace, comparatively, but they have a nice, substantial 'tick' sound to them for time keeping and the 'splash' sound they make is full enough to free up your hands for tom playing--I do a lot of splashing with the Hi-Hat pedal. . . The way you mixed the audio in this video is magical. Very raw too, it sounds like this kit could have been used in Horus And The Pharoah by the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex.
Exactly on point and what I started with. You really don't need more except (maybe)another mounted tom 13" and 16" crash to be complete. But still this is a GOOD dinner club "JAZZ SET"
I bought my 70s pearl kit at a thrift store and it came with this ride and hi hats also a 16" 80s Zildjian crash, anyway I'm in no rush to upgrade, I really like the way these cymbals sound. Great for rock n roll 🤘
Had the sabian 18 crash ride and sounded good even with a crack on the edge, then now i have a zbt crash that cracked same exact way, both were used before. Now my thin wuhan crashes, two years, not one crack. The Wuhan crashes seem a lot less to hit for a loud response than all my cheap b8 alloy cymbals. I always start drumming with used cymbals, maybe that how they crack so fast😅. After 6 drum sets..
I played this ride cymbals along with my Zildjian A Custom and K Dark crash at a gig(as I didn't bring my own ride) and I didn't really like it that much. The bow of it sounds mediocre, the edge sound pretty good and is pretty crushable but the bell sucks, not clarity at all so not good for bell accenting but it is pretty good for it's cheap price, much better than a Camber ride haha!
I only ever had b8 hats--never the cymbals--and I hated them. Then I got Manhattan groove hats and they sounded like crap. Once I got a better hi hat stand they sounded better. Weird that it was the hardware bringing me down. For budget brass, it sounds pretty damn good.

Jak masz $150 budzet to pewnie w Polsce bedziesz musial cos na eBay moze znalezc, bo inaczej to Cie wysylka z zza granicy sporo bedzie kosztowac. A masz juz ride i hi hats? Jak cos znajdziesz to mi wyslij linka, to Ci powiem czy sie oplaca.

Muito bom! algumas pessoas não entendem que nem sempre o B8 é inferior ao B20 ou B10,B12, B8 é para quem pega pesado e não tem medo,pois esta liga suporta bacadas violentas por se tratar de sua ligarser mais grossa.
Do jeito muito simples vou explicar: B8 é pra quem ta cansado de latão , B10 é semi profissional , B20 é profissional. Se você quer senta a lenha no seu prato B8 , fique a vontade , o investimento é seu , abraço.
After a 35-year break from rock drumming I picked up a set of Pearls with Sabian B8 cymbals on the cheap. I've heard lots of people dogging the B8s but (and it could be my bad hearing from those rock days) I really don't hear much difference between mine and those super-expensive cymbals. Not enough difference to justify the costs at least!
Sabian And Zildjian are probably partnering companies... Zildjian had too many devs... so one was kicked out. but the one who was kicked out.... Created Sabian. So this is why the cymbals sound similar
When Avendis Zyldjian died, in Turkish tradition, he left the company to his eldest son, Armand. His youngest son, Robert Zyldjian, split and formed Sabian. As part of the settlement Sabian got the Zyldjian facility in Canada that manufactured the K series.

just avoid the 16 one. the 18 has some sustain because it's larger, the 16 inch one doesn't have a lot of sustain at all.

In my experience, but the bottom hat on top and add a ching ring and they sound phenomenal.
