I'm from the UK and my wife and I have snowboarded a lot of europe and america. Breck is definitely our favourite place. The runs are perfect for us with us not being too advanced. The people in general in the usa are just fantastic too always so friendly. Weve been devastated we had to miss this year at breck because of the usa travel ban. We hope to get back asap!
For someone on vacation, the transportation is awesome. We stayed on French st. We would get up, the bus came every 10 minutes (on time), 5 minutes to the gondola, go to Peak 7 or 8, ski all morning, go back to the condo for a few hours, come back and ski the afternoon.
Johnathon, hopefully when the borders open up you can come here to Whistler/Blackcomb and do a review. The only set back this year are the parks are closed on Whistler but the one on Blackcomb is open. With the Peak to Peak Gondola, easy to go from one mountain to the other.
plenty of air B&B in Silverthorne, Dillon, and Frisco for those who do not want to stay in Breck but go to Breck. though I would suggest looking into condos on peak 9 for ease of access. Killer video buddy. it is surprising as windy as Breck is they don't have a bubble lift.
Any chance we can get a page that provides all the reviewed scores? I've watched all the videos but forgot the exact totals and like to compare. Thanks again for the time you take to make these!
I live in Bailey (off 285) and Breckinridge is by far the closest to me. However, by the time I get to the airport parking lot, wait for the shuttle and get to peak 8 I could’ve been shredding at Monarch.
I know you said no more Colorado for a while, but I've never seen you hit Snowmass. I Ski-bummed there in 1983-85. Went back three years ago and yes, Aspen has totally changed (and sucks now), but we didn't go to be in town - we went to ski. Stayed in Frisco and day tripped up to Snowmass. ON the way home - you hit up the Glenwood Springs Historic Hot Springs! I personally think Snowmass is an awesome place and well worth the extra travel time!
I really hope you'll be able to review ski resorts outside of the U.S... I think you'll find some great ones in Europe, Japan, NZ.. I think that one of my favorites, Val Thorens in the 3 valleys in the French Alps could easily top the score of 80
i have the Epic Local Pass and I love Breck and go there the most. i can only go to Beaver Creak and Vail a combined 10 times. i would love to explore Vail but it might take me more than 10 times to really get to know that mountain. do you have a review for Vail?
Love your reviews, I only wish you would add one more thing to it. How family-friendly, or how good of a resort it is for bringing your kids. In terms of ski school for kids or daycare for babies. It’s really hard to find reviews that include that aspect. Although a lot of parents want to bring their kids, what if the kid doesn’t like snowboarding or skiing. Is there something else they can do while the parents are snowboarding?
Have you been to Montana? This year is a bit crappy, but there are some well talked about spots here. Also, are you only focusing on the large Resorts, or are you thinking about stopping at the smaller areas too. Snowy Range (southeast WY.), Red Lodge Mountain (Red lodge, MT), Big Sky (Big Sky, MT) Showdown (MT) Sleeping Giant (Cody, WY. Small, but growing.)
@@goodridevibes yeah I stayed there once, the one I was at had a sick outdoor hot tub and ~1/8 mile hike access to 2 lifts on the mountain. Also had a path going right back up to it for when you needed to get back. 10/10 would rate 10/10 again
Great review Johnathan! Breck is a special place! Imperial Superchair and the 6-chair that you took Brandon and me on last season was a GAME CHANGER!!! Opened up my snowboarding world, thanks bro!
I often just skip Breck for Keystone during early season because it takes so long to get up, plus I don't want to pay for parking for limited terrain. Once everything opens it's a different story. But early season I usually will pass.
@@Londonocw Keystone is a gem, and early season and big weekends I don't mind skipping Breck for it. Honestly, I feel it gets a bad rap because it isn't Breck.
Such a bummer that Breck dumped Freeway and it sounds like they may be phasing out Bonanza as well. There is also a rumor going around that Keystone will be completely phasing out area-51 in the next 5 years.
Great video for me before booking my trip to Breck! Do you know if I need to purchase lift ticket to use the beginner carpet? I have a friend would like to do the beginner carpet for day1. Thank you!
Do Devils Head Resort in Wisconsin. Shredded it a few times Big Chicago crowd but I enjoyed it a ton and last time they had a huge half pipe. Worth a visit.
I’m a vail resorts employee in Wisconsin and planning on going there January 17th. Do you think the crowds will be rough or is Covid making it not too bad?
Haven’t been skiing in years. When I did it was in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Sounds like the place has really changed a lot. Perhaps to over commercialized now days. My go to resorts we’re always Breck, Copper and Keystone, with Breck as my favorite. Generally we stayed in Dillon or Frisco and decided each day which resort we would go to. I mean seriously I remember being able to walk from public parking up to the main chair at peak 8 maybe 200-300 hundred yards, that’s sounds impossible today. As for food, I always packed my own and never came off the mountain, my time was to valuable. I was there to ski as much as possible instead of eating which was a low priority.
Breck is very convenient. Where ever you stay at in Breck, you can take the free bus. You can walk to dinner etc… It makes it easier because you don’t need to rent a car and can shuttle from Denver.
Breck was worth it. Only got to unleash from intermediate skiers for a few runs, so I missed out on alot. The time before was a 3ft snow fall durring the day, so alot was not accessible due to dangerous conditions. Had no clue how big it was when I saw it 10 years later. Employees were very fun, professional, accommodating and welcoming. Beck was worth the money.
Post a review for some of the North Carolina resorts you rode!!! Please keep in mind when scoring those that they could never compare to what is out west! Rate them fairly for what they have to offer southeast riders! ;)
Breck has a huge variety of terrain suitable to every taste, ability and powder stashes too. Are there better resorts? Probably, but in IMHO you should try riding back east for a few weeks...you know, to get context. Of course from the Lego helmet in the BG, you grew up riding the hills of Wisconsin!

Just went to Breck and Keystone. I had not been to Breck in about 28 years and went to Keystone last year. I enjoyed Breckenridge more than Keystone. I like how the blue runs are really wide. The lift lines and crowds overall are probably the worst of any of the Summit county slops.
