    I have tried one of their headlamps a few years back. I have to say the build quality is amazing. I was also very pleased with the light output. It always seems to me that when I buy a light with say 700 lumens, it is 700 for 10 seconds, but when you buy a 1200 lumen light from Lucifer you get 1200 lumens for almost 2 hours (depending on chosen battery of course).

    Thanks for the review of this interesting item. I use a Petzl Tikkina, Petzl Actik Core, and Petzl Nao+; but will certainly consider a Lucifer headlamp should I need a new one.

    For me it's got to be the Fenix 65T which I bought off the back of your review!
    It lasts forever so great when I get to 100 mile stage.
    It could be a touch more comfortable. With a headband which I normally wear it's no problem but without you can feel that metal pressing against your forehead.
    Its nothing major but its there

      The Fenix HM65R-T is a great piece of kit Rich, I'm glad you are getting on with yours. I always wear a Buff or beanie hat whenever I wear ma head torch so I don't really have any issues with comfort 👍

    Great review! Been looking for a proper review for years and you've covered it! Been looking at the M6 myself, not for the increased power so much as the increased runtime at lower powers. FYI the battery issue, you can get extender cables so you can carry them in your race vest instead of on back of the head strap, could possibly keep the battery warmer for winter ultras, whether it makes the lamp front heavy is another question. And as per Nitecore, Fenix etc at least as you're running an 18650 cell for this particular model you can pack some spares, more than can be said for a few brands who try and make their batteries proprietary (looking at you Petzl with the Nao). But glad we've finally got a proper UK review 👍

    I have a Lucifer M5+ (it has been superseded by M6 ). I am very satisifed with it, it does a great job. Works perfectly all the time, lots of light for many hours. I run 100 km trail races and I know I can always count on this piece of gear.
    There's only a couple of issues - it's a bit heavy but I got used to it. Ladies may want to consider buying S2X. I don't like it when there's a spare battery pack in the mandatory gear for the race, because carrying two battery packs adds a lot of weight. The fully charged battery packs provides 18 hours of light (and then about 10 hours in emergency mode), I don't need another 18. They sell lighter battery packs and I want to buy those.
    The second issue is the price tag but I think the price is adequate to the quality of the product.

      @luciferlights 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, thats exactly one of the reasons why we also offer smaller batterypacks.

    Great review. I agree with what you said about head torches in general. They all promise a lot but very few really deliver. I've been using a Silva trail Ultra over the winter and it is really good especially the feature of being able to plug in a battery pack while actually wearing the torch. Pretty much means it will not run out and can be left on full for hours. It's bright but not mega bright which is a shame. On the really dark night runs through woods and on the fells I was taking a hand torch which actually made a massive difference but not ideal. I'll check out the brand as they do look good. Agree with the battery section though as it seems it would be better with padding.

      Hi Erik, thanks. Shortly we will have our own USB-A charger available. I know, its not USB-C, but still very handy. Almost everybody has got USB-A by his side, even now not everyone has got everywhere USB-C, so thats why we started with USB-A first. Its our own product so it takes some time to develop.

    I don't intend to move away from the two Fenix head torches I have because there are so very good and well built. This one looks ok to me but not great, that battery pack on the back with padding would get pretty annoying to me and having to look into a flashing light to see the state of charge for the battery would be a showstopper.
    In the middle of a long night ultra, or heading to a second night, the last thing your brain doing is working out whether you have enough light or not. Counting flashes and tired brains don't play well together.
    I like the Fenix system of a very contrasting blue set of leds that light from a one touch operation and show you instantly how much charge you have.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Fenix torches are really good Ian, I love my HM65R-T 😊
      It is a shame there's no padding on the battery pack, not sore why they've done that 🤔
      I actually like the battery indicator, I think it makes it really easy to know how much battery life you've got left. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated mate 🙏😊

    • @luciferlights
      @luciferlights 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ian, I am founder of Lucifer headlamps but also multisport athlete (everything from orienteering, rogainining, running, mtb, climbing...) and I compete various races up to 24h quite often. Indication (state of charge test) is really easy, you do it once before the race to confirm that you charged full. Then, through the race, there is discharge warning telling you 30%, 10% and 0% level of charge. Actually no need to perform state of charge test during the race. Runtimes are clear and spot on. Trust me, I know even how you feel after 125km of running. Not telling Fenix system is not good.

    I need a new head torch and have to admit I know nothing of the technology or even realistic expectations for battery time etc, so if someone could offer a definitive recomendation I'd very much appreciate it. I understand all things are subjective but if there's a concensus out there it would be great.

    • @luciferlights
      @luciferlights 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to give you general rule of thumb. But look for real runtime figures (graphs), real lumens, constant brightness regulation and total weight - these are hard datas which can compare easily if they are true. Then search user reviews or ask you friend what he is using and if he is happy with it. Our customers are very happy with our lamps, see FB posts and reviews. We do many sports ourselves (running, orienteering, mtb..) so we know ho such a perfect lamp should look like.

    • @guzgrant
      @guzgrant 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luciferlights OK, in your opinion from your range could you suggest a lamp capable of sustaining a trail brightness for about five consecutive hours? I have a 100k event in a few weeks and although I would hope to be done in reasonable time, I'd like the security of illumination if I can't get to the finish before the moon comes up?
      I also like the idea of buying European made, and more so as my wife is from Novy Jicin a Czech manufacture seems a good omen. Thanks

    • @luciferlights
      @luciferlights 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guzgrant Lucifer S2X has got HIGH mode for 4 hours and LOW mode for 10 hours, unfortunately nothing in between. See link in video description for full runtime chart and details. If you wish to have exactly 5 hours, its not that hard to reprogram one S2X for you, just write that into comment order. Intensity would be something like 390 lumens for that 5h runtime.

    • @guzgrant
      @guzgrant 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luciferlights brilliant. Will have a look now. For this particular run I'm hoping to be running in darkness no longer than two or three hours so it should be fine.
