The Shuffle option on a playlist is a great way to get things randomly played. so you don't hear the same order each evening. BUT I have a different story. In the early 70's my parents divorced. I had to live with dad. To get back into the dating world and being an older man with children, he went back to his roots and went to a Square dance club class. It lasted from Sept-Feb. But you had to bring a partner so everyone could dance. Dad asked me to go with him. I'm 15 at the time. I HATED the idea of dancing with "old folks" (35yo), liked dancing but not with the old guys. I HATED country music. We made a deal that on the trip there and back home I got to listen to my Rock & Roll on the radio. Funny thing is. . .at Graduation night of the Square Dance class this group of teenagers came in. Turns out there were Teen Square Dance clubs that I didn't know about. They would come to the different graduations and scoop up the young folks and introduce them to the younger clubs. I loved dancing with like aged kids, we created square dances to modern music, had great parties and got to wear mini skirt square dance dresses. I tell this story to show a compromise. Have the Rap or other questionable music played at specific times like on the road. Have a playlist that is for After Dark, a different one for Morning or Afternoon times. Balance it out. Good luck.
This is a GREAT STORY @mjgobet5601 , thanks for sharing! It is so cool that you ended up loving square dancing after finding the right group of people who adapted a traditional form of dance to modern music! I really love your idea of having different playlists for different times of day. Music really sets a tone and my smooth jazz doesn't work when my fellow campers are in more of a party mood. And, their party music gives me a headache when I'm trying to enjoy my morning coffee LOL I'm going to create several different playlists now, thanks for your suggestions!
Good luck with this Kim - we have no idea how to build a playlist everyone will be happy with. Maybe play Campfire sounds or something like that ? LOL. Soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy ? Great topic!
Oh my gosh @bobanddangsjourney !!! I never even heard of Guardians of the Galaxy so I searched for it and found this: Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2) (Full Soundtrack) I think you may have solved my problem! I just started playing it and now Pete is whistling the songs LOL Thanks for the help! th-cam.com/video/Kt-tLuszKBA/w-d-xo.html
This is a tough ask, because personally, I am a Swifty myself. The issue is for you is you have a really wide variety of music likes. So for a suggestion, I think everybody mostly likes 70s soft rock as a background music noise, but even that may irritate someone nowadays. Music since it is all digital now, has become very personal. Here is a story hope its not too long, but my wife and I used to race streetbikes, and we used to rent a race track in New Mexico with a few other people, one of the guys had each of us pick 2 or 3 songs and he put them all together on a playlist and that is what we listened to mostly. It was a strange playlist for sure, but honestly the music couldn't have been more diverse and everybody was happy in our situation. Now when I camp, I have the same speaker as you, and I usually play older 80s music or 70s classic rock softly in the background and if anybody complains, I just turn it off. It isn't always my first choice of music, but I find that generally for my friends anyway it works for us. I also have some old 90s country I slip in here and there, but mostly the upbeat stuff. I hope that gives you some ideas. P.S. I understand a about the cat helping with the laundry, although our cat would rather kill it than lay in it haha.
On my gosh, @azxp you have me rolling on the floor! 🤣😻 Your cat would rather kill your laundry than lay in it! I love your New Mexico race track story! And, you are SO RIGHT about music being so personal now that it's digital. I can tell when somebody uses my phone to control our JBL speaker because my Pandora thumbprint station becomes something other than "my favorites" LOL I'm going to try to do the 2-3 song thing and create a playlist. Thanks for the idea!
It's so nice to hear from you @anneroyal5149 😊 You know, I never thought about music being like politics in that way. You are right, soooo many opinions. Too funny!

Two ideas: keep the music quiet enough so conversation can happen, or eliminate music since it can be like politics with all the opinions!
