This are looks really nice - love that Bradley visits. Bummer about having to take care of sites that are either littered or have not had the fire put out properly or had other mishaps inflicted by careless campers. But the flip side is you got to be there all summer -so that was nice! If you guys are there again next year we will try to come visit :). Great job on this video -it was very educational for us. See you guys soon in Q.
@@bobanddangsjourney you guys would love seeing Bradley in person! We are going to try to get some traveling in next summer so we probably won’t be camp hosting but we always spend some time on the rim. We would love to meet up with you there! Looking forward to seeing you in Q soon!
The fire pit thing can get dangerous. Not sure how it started but there was a wildfire around Prescott, AZ that claimed the lives of 19 out of 20 Granite Mountain Hotshots. Watch the movie, "Only the Brave". It really made more aware of the importance of outdoor fire safety.
Yes @oldsoundman1. One of the things that makes me nervous is camping in an area with 1 way in/1 way out and reckless campers who don't practice fire safety. We have visited the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park, that was such a tragic event. I wish people took fire safety more seriously. All we can do is try to spread the word. Do you camp a lot in Arizona?
I mostly do dispersed camping mostly, because it is hard to get a spot nowadays, and I am not sure what I am doing in a year, so it is nice to hear that you guys are first come first serve no reservations. This video is great and we need more of them for education. You probably know better than I do, but I think some of the issues are lack of knowledge or just not really understanding the right way to do something. I mean I get that some people just don't care about the rules, but that is why I think videos like this are necessary. I will be curious to see if anything gets better next year. I really think you should do another video like this every year that you camp host. I think it is important for people to see that their garbage doesn't magically disappear, or their fires don't magically go away. The fire thing is so dangerous, think about the surrounding areas that allow dispersed camping and there are no camp hosts. The only thing missing was the fee to stay at your campsite?
Yikes @azxp , I totally forgot to mention this is a FREE camping area. You don't have to get a permit or anything, it is totally free. I'm going to do another video on the whole recreation area and show which campsites have a fee and which don't. I agree that a lot of issues are because people don't have the proper knowledge. We did run across a few people that actually did have the knowledge but just didn't care and decided they could do whatever they wanted to do. It's annoying when those people do things that are dangerous, especially if they put other campers in danger. Thankfully most of the people we met were respectful of the forest, rules and other campers. Thanks for watching and for giving me more ideas for future videos!
@@CampingforfoodiesKimHanna yeah there are a lot of areas close to me that we like to play, but now there are fees and permits necessary to go there, and it is a drag. Now we have to go three times as far to play at free spots because people have left the place in shambles. I am hoping not only do we do better, but we also teach our kids to do better.
@@azxp yes, hopefully we can all do better. Last summer we went to Alabama Hills (near Lone Pine, CA) and we were hoping to find a free spot to boondock for a few nights. Unfortunately, people were leaving the place such a mess, the authorities almost shut the place down. Now there are only a few designated sites for camping and they are super small so you can only fit a tent or small van or tiny trailer. We had to stay at an RV park nearby which was really nice but it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. Our motto is to leave a place cleaner than we found it, we're hoping to spread the word so other people do the same.
