I made a speedrun with the pc port of this game. Believe me it's far superior to everything else. The only downside of the pc port is, that you can't savestate...or maybe you can but I don't know how. If you know this please share this knowledge with me - would help me a lot!

Except this looks like ass compared to the original (in my personal opinion of course, no shame if you like it)
The remake was on the ds and the controls are kinda shit. They should have just remastered 64 for 3d all stars instead of just doing a port. Maybe even make the remastered graphics togglable like in the halo master cheif collection so if you like the old graphics better you can have them. To be honest that with the changes made to sunshine and galaxy this probably would make the collection worth around what they're charging mabeye a little less.

@@KhaledKetata there was someone doing just that (maybe it was in unity, not sure) and Nintendo was quick to file a cease and desist. This was a couple of years ago too,nothing since.
@@MilkyNep the one from a couple years ago was different from this so I don't think it was made by the same person. I went on his channel recently and there weren't any videos saying that he made this in unity years ago. it was from two different people

@@AlexVanguard Totally agree about the textures looking mismatched, just look at the grass in the opening scene... but that's because this isn't finished yet... it just has a few textures and models replaced. It looks like the original by default.

When I was younger I didnt understand how voice acting worked, so I thought the voice actors would be recording their lines live every session. So every time I saw a speed run when I was young I always wondered how someone could be able to say all of those lines lol

I grew up in the 90s playing games long before I had ever heard of the concept of speedrunning, and when I did, it was in the pre-TH-cam days, so I would download "segmented" speedruns from SpeedDemosArchive one video at a time, and this would take literal weeks on a dial up modem. In your case, you watched videos of speedruns before you ever played a game yourself. That's wild to me.

Good speedrun. Of course, you know the areas you can improve in. But I felt the frustration on each of those areas with you. I'd also say this is a good showcase of this PC Port, mostly out of this being randomly suggested to me today.

@@thawkade not Emulation, this is a source port. It's running natively on PC. It's also been ported to Android, PSP, PS3, PS2, Switch, Wii U, Wii, and Dreamcast.

DankBong420 that's not what a remaster is. A remaster usually has quality of life changes too. And even then, it’s only a small portion of textures that were upscaled. Educate yourself.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the games in the 3D AllStars collection are emulated meaning it's not even a port of the game. You wouldn't be able to run a SM64 remaster in an N64 emulator anyway

The only thing about this port that i kinda dont like, is that Mario doesn't have any new facial animations, he only blinks but never moves his mouth, wich creeps me out a bit.
Other than that, this game and modding community never ceases to amaze me.

@@hunterhowell8636 I agree with the art style, but this runs in 60 FPS 1080p too and some of the textures are unironically nice like the painting frames. Nintendo could put way more effort into 3D All Stars too.

like sure some spots and textures look nice but when its all packaged together, so many things just look off.
Probably because you're not used to the characters looking like how they were depicted in artwork

also the lighting on the models just doesn't match the quality of the model so it makes it look worse.

HUNGRY 4 EGGS the whole game is supposed to look how miyamoto depicted it in the 90’s without any hardware limitations.
EDIT: and it’s still running off the n64 source codes and whatnot so that’s why some things may look off. It’s an upgraded graphics mod on the original N64 ROM.
@@ploobus194 I'm aware of what its sposed to look like, I'm saying I think it looks worse than the original apart from the upres textures. Like that mario model looks way out of place without the animations and lighting, just looks uncanny to the point the original looks better.

I had indeed issues with the sound. Though it may come from the 60 fps patch
@@flexromhax8028 it happened to me too, i just had to recompile the game using another rendering API (can't remember if it was D3D12 or OpenGL)

Ciawn regardless of how good and memorable they were in their specific launch windows (except sunshine) those are some old ass games +13 years old. And the only thing some technician (I would say technicians but really, it’s such a piss poor port that I can’t fathom even an small team working on it because...) do was something akin to copy and paste the roms in to the in house emulator and copy and paste the three folders in the main server with the OSTs. I get you, I love Nintendo games, I love video games, thankfully I have and had have access to all consoles from the 64 era onwards but what Nintendo do for a 35th anniversary was so lazy and insulting that I refuse to pay for the convenience of playing one of my favorite game of all time, Super Mario Galaxy (an absolute art defining MASTERPIECE), and at the same time letting Nintendo get away with something that looks ridiculous compared to the ports and reworks some kids have done in their spare time in computers and engines nowhere near those that game developers have access to. I would rather pay a solo version of galaxy for 40usd on the eshop, than encourage the scam that is that shitty port.

It’s not worth it for those who already own the games or have emulators but for people like me who never really experienced the games properly it’s so nice to have an upscaled version of 3 brilliant games on the go. Do I think they could’ve done better? Yeah but I’m not too bothered if this game collection brings the possibility of more classic Nintendo games being released on Switch. For example games like Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask. On top of that the game is celebrating 35 years of Mario so that also bumps the price.
Pretty good speedrun! I'm sure you could reach 17 minutes or so if you fix some errors you did through the speedrun.
