I’ve always considered Luigi to be the best character in the game- unless you’re doing character-exclusive missions (such as Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins), I never saw any reason to play as anyone else.
Control issues aside, this is the best version of Mario 64, and I really wish we had gotten this one in the 3D all stars collection with analog controls and HD resolution. 🤷🏻♂️

I find it strange to see a full 3d Bowser in this game. I'm used to seeing the original 64 version. I mean is it just me or did the original look... cute?
The average time between you pick a star and you can move again is 5 seconds. Multiply it by 150 stars. Congratulations, you've spent 12 minutes and a half looking at the same animation.
Actually only 120 stars in this game come from main levels. One in each level is 100 coin which doesnt require a start animation, so that's 105 stars. Some of the secret stars have to be accessed from inside a level, which means they technically require a start animation as well. I'm not gonna count them up but examples are Luigi's stage in Big Boos Haunt, and Metal Cap in Hazy Maze Cave
If you grab bowser on the first frame before he starts moving on the 1.0 version of the game, Bowser's health resets and he is unable to die. Unfortunately, it happened this run, but it's not supposed to happen :P
This game is so special to me. This is what a remake should be. 30 added stars, 3 extra playable characters, improved graphics. I miss this era of gaming ❤

The original was.... garbage in the first place, bosses are a joke, puzzles that can be completely skipped, rudimentary graphics and gameplay, So the DS version is just an updated garbage heap you could store in your pocket. It's a children's game, made for people who have a mild of a child.

Really good run man. There were a few choppy parts like at the end there, but honestly you can't expect to play a game for 3 hours each with o error. All in all a really good run, and very entertaining.
I never realized the beach level played Delfino Square music. I was also young and had never heard the Delfino Square music. In fact, I didn’t even know SMS was a thing😂
Incredible game. And a launch title too. It's a shame, the DS had so much more potential when it comes to graphics, but too many 3rd party developers did not make use of the DS hardware. Games like Mario 64 DS and Metroid Prime Hunters really show the potential of what the DS could do with the right art direction.

If you want 100 coin stars use yoshi in most instances and then use luigi caps elsewhere. Using mario and wario caps when absolutely required

absolutely true, the DS was above the N64 in terms of graphics: Mario Kart DS, Moon DS, GTA, Hotel Dusk are great examples of this
So I spent god knows how long to beat that game and he just did it in the matter of not even a quarter of a day
My man probably took hours upon hours learning the optimal routes and glitches. You probably beat it in less time taking account for that.
