Stolas being more comfortable around/attracted to imps makes so much sense when you realize he was raised by them, spent all his time with them, and most of his positive experiences in life have revolved about the impish staff in his mansion. His infant nursemaid was an imp. The butler's an imp, the kitchen staff...
Being around the other goetia must feel uncomfortable to someone who looks like them but is not like them at all.
It was shown also in Harvest Moon episode - Stolas was clearly excited talking about IMP festival, he even called Blitzø and his crew "just for fun/taking day off" not because he grew damn bored about festival
he also had imp stuffies from when he was a hatchling. You can see them in the hallway paintings

@@praescia I think it also comes down to personality type as well. Stolas is by nature a very kind person so that kindness was extended to imps as well, even if people tried to teach him otherwise

Small detail I love: in Stolas’s phone he has pictures with Blitzø but he isn’t smiling, while on Blitzø’s phone in the end of season 1 we can see he took a happy selfie with Stolas while he was asleep, showing Blitzø does feel a sense of happiness and comfort around Stolas he just isn’t showing.

@@weenbeenpeen I would say the more important point is that stolas never _chose_ to be in that relationship. It was forced onto him, and in addition to that, stella clearly hated him. It was never really a relationship. It was all fake and formal.
There's a brilliant twist here, because in the beginning, stolas was cast s a cheater, and pretty much everyone in the show who knew saw it as such. he was the unfaithful husband who was chasing after blitz because of lust, and this is highlighted last episode. That's the view of any person on the outside looking in, even to blitz, and that belief hurts him because he want's a real family.
But here we suddenly see the situation is completely different. Stolas isn't chasing after blitz out of lust because of being unsatisfied with his wife. Stella isn't constantly mad at stolas simply because he cheated on her. instead, Stolas is chasing after his childhood crush because of a longing for freedom. the freedom to be with who he really loves. AFTER having tried and failed to satisfy stella and make everything work.
he's not truly a cheater. not in my eyes. This is so sad, because blitz doesn't even realize he has exactly what he wants with stolas.
And I think that little pause and blink was an internal recognition that it might have only hurt Octavia more.

Dear Vivziepop, knowing you way before Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel was a thing to seeing how far you’ve come is a miracle, I’m so happy for your intense success with such an incredible talent of yours! This is my favourite Episode of HB now, as it contains so many deeply thought-through moments and fine additions to our knowledge, I absolutely adore it. As Stolas is my favourite character, it’s beautiful to how he has developed only in one episode, being unsure at first but getting the intense confidence to stand his ground and protect the ones that he loves dearly. He’s such a deep, precious character and I couldn’t be happier for what kind of a masterpiece you created here. And he even sings as well! 18:50 Also, their kid voices are so accurate and beautiful, couldn’t have done better. And their first meeting and eye contact really was a sight to behold, truly fate and destiny as it is and should be. So thank you, dearly. (Rhyme!)
I love the attention to detail that Blitzo snapped Stolas' neck around 180 degrees, but that Stolas is an owl and is perfectly able of having his neck rotate like that without getting hurt

I just noticed a difference in how Stolas treats the servants and how Stella treats them. He's noticeable more respectful towards them.
Stolas isn't entitled, or feels superior to others. If he has, or is, then it's because he's been forced to think this way. Look at when he bowed to greet Blitz and his father hit him for it, sweetly revealing his true character.
Stella is his antithesis. Stolas is capable of love, despite being a spawn of the Dork Lard. Or, is it the Dark Lord? Point is, he's starting to truly think for himself for the first time in his life. I suspect his abilities are key to his character.
Like, he can see the stars. He is naturally prophetic, which I assume represents his growing ability to choose his own future. Even more poignant, he can rise above Hell and actually leave it. All brilliantly symbolic.
I love a show that makes you think like this. This episode took you, pushed you into a deep hole and plummeted you down to entirely new levels of depth, ESPECIALLY as far as Stolas is concerned. I've watched it twice since I discovered it was available, a couple of hours ago.

See? This is what I mean about how the show has you happily analysing it. And, they have given us much to ponder. The S02 premier has gone unexpectedly deeper, adding poignancy and true depth of character development to an entirely new level. It was a stroke of genius for the writers to fashion it this way.
Think about it. S01 had only 8 episodes. From the pilot to S02 they have transformed Stolas. Actually, the pilot does a brilliant job of establishing the character dynamics, in only 11 minutes!
Many people in the comments say they hated Stolas. Now, his popularity has soared. This is rare, especially in such a short time. This explains why it's worth looking for hidden metaphors and symbolism.

There are apparently three groups of voice actors that are always on point, giving their all for no fucking Reason Exhibit A valve voice actors because I’m going to be honest my two examples here are Team Fortress 2 and both Left 4 Dead games exhibit B some random fucking person who has like three followers on TH-cam But who is able to do such a good impression of almost any character or person to the point that you’d think they were just randomly friends with every famous voice actor/ President apparently and then Exhibit 3 people working for glitch, and The name just blanked and I’m not going back to check but the person who’s making this show I don’t got it right now. So Stolas is at least 35? 25 years after he got given the book his daughter is 17 so Octavia was born 8 years after he got given the book, which means assuming he was married to Stella as soon as he turned 18 and it just didn't take long to conceive Octavia, he was given the book on his 10th birthday
He was actually married when he was 10, which is arguably worse, as it means they had a child... as a child... he's 32, I believe. Stolas does mention that it's been almost 2 decades, which would be about 15 years. He would be 25 when he slept with Blitz, then 7 years pass.
So he likely had Octavia when he was 15. Yikes.

See, I used to have some sympathy for Stella, but the way Stolas explained that he'd be sorry if he had hurt her, but knew he never did, put things into perspective really well.
I originally thought that Stella was just angry and hurt from her husband cheating on her, this episode was an eye opener

Stolas who is this geek that likes books and the circus and flirting with an IMP, but also put up with physical and emotional abuse, all for his owlet to have a semi normal life - is such a wild ride. He really did put aside his personal well being for around two decades, put Octavia at the forefront, and bared with it because someone mattered above his own happiness. Meanwhile, Stella is revealed to be a petty, shallow child, and kind of trashy (for a denizen of hell, she acts like the Sinners). And the way Stella deals with the fallout is hire an assassin, whereas Stolas is ready to officiate a divorce and separation, and probably a restraining order to boot.

I love the smiles that he has for Via whether she knew about it or not. Out of a terrible marriage with Stella, Via is the only good thing that has happened to him. He loves her, tries to be present and keep his promises to her, even tried to connected with her in her teenage years. Unlike his father, Stolas does make attempts to apologize to her when he fell short in her eyes.
Stolas actually went to the circus with his daughter. He could have just as easily given Blitz one of those mirror things, but he genuinely wanted to spend time with his daughter he just literally didn't know how.

Literally the only relationship Stolas has had where people haven't been taking advantage of him - is with his daughter. I think by the episode the sigh he gives is one that has some stress relief to it as well, a bit of exhausted pride that he actually stood up for what he wanted rather than being walked over again.

I am in love with this series, but I am going to hate it if it ends with Stolas not being happy. He deserves the world and more for everything that he is. Though I hope it's happy with Blitz and Octavia--a new cannon pairing would likely just annoy a lot of people.

My first impression of Stella was that she was just an angry wife that was mad at Stolas for cheating. But this shows she was always hateful and abusing him even before he cheated. Before this episode, I had hoped their relationship would get better as he’d realize Blitz was using him but Blitz definitely is starting to love him and from the information on this episode: Blitz was Stolas’s first crush AND friend.

Not going to lie I kind of wanted some nuance I mean I love the fact that they had those moments as kids cuz it was cute as all get at but for one I wish they didn't I wish they were strangers cuz it means them starting out that way like we initially thought and then trying to continue on normal relationship or building up to one I thought it would have been more meaningful especially a hell of a lot more Rocky not to mention I kind of thought stole this was older anyway the other thing would be that Stella always being a b**** it just feels very one note I get there in hell and wrath is a sin that I'm sure a lot of demons would have but it would have been more interesting if she was just a distant irritated chick who wasn't happy that she was forced to be in a relationship like stolas and be more reserved from trying to connect a relationship with thus creating tension when it was already strained from the beginning that made her resentful

So we know that Something Bad happened with that. Then during “Oops” in the flashback he goes something like “but you have no idea what I️ lost in that Fire…” and it had a scene of a burnt picture of him and Barbie and their mom.
