I absolutely love Jeffery mishlove and this program. He’s such a good interviewer as well as an intellectual in conversation can’t get enough of these.
He was my first teacher when I read "Be Here Now" and saw him in meditation in 1972.Its 2012 and I am back on the path that I knew was the way then but didn't work on myself, He is a great teacher and incredible intelligent.Love him
Beyond the intellect and into the sublime. Ram Dass is relaxed, trusting and deeply in the moment, his answers are deep but seem very authentic to me. Jeffrey Mishlove does a great job too in pushing the boundaries of someone who is off the page, both intellectually and spiritually.
Peter Marshall I feel compelled to watch this video every few months. At a higher-level I connected with this the first time that I watched it and that was it for me. But on a lower-level I feel the conscious need to watch it again every few months, and re-connect... and then I realise how much I've forgotten in the meantime. If only I could have all of this wisdom at the forefront of my consciousness each day. Though sadly I can't.
Wow loved that chat! We are all just different forms manifesting the one. I can vouch for “a beautiful awareness through suffering “ may you all be guided by the one 🙏
Yes, it's really a paradox. I went through a period of very great danger to my life, back in the 1990s, and I managed the situation in making myself a total servant to the universe, and other people around me. I abandoned all fight, while I was treated by some people very unjustly, I did not complain. Instead, I was studying both Christian and Buddhist writings and learnt that the personal ego is not in control of our real good life. When we practice wu wei, nonaction, for a certain time, there are connections with people to come about, and suddenly we feel we can help others who are much worse off than ourselves. And then, not resisting, but doing the work that the universe wants us to do, in helping others around us, a new energy comes up, and a silent transformation takes place that is really miraculous. I believe the universe is benevolent ... yes. I experienced it many times.
After 7 years of studying Dharma with kadampa that my brother introduced me I've decided that Ram Dass which my daughter Angela introduced me to is my Guru🙏🎈
This broadcast around 1988 and carries the illumination of this interview to the present, and surely will thru the future. So many pearls to ponder on, my favorite "God brings food to the hungry"
The real truth can't be contained in words but words and concepts can help point us in the right direction. Eventually, you realize that you are not doing anything but being done thru! Thanks Ram Dass for beautifully explaining what can.t be fully understood via concepts.
Ram Dass is really lovely. 🙌❤️ I've also personally been loving a lot of Master Sri Avinash Do lately with my spiritual path. #SriAvinash 💙🙏 I have found his meditation videos really uplifting and motivating in my life.
I might be weird and everything but I see this world where there no longer is hate. A world ruled by love. I mean I want to change the world and make t see that love is amazing but how I hope this book brings the answer without having to do LSD.. I hope reading this book opens my mind alot more
Don't do anything if you don't want to. As Dass says himself, all methods are a trap (which we use to set ourselves free.) But at the heart of it, we are already free! Trust the process, simply allow your heart to open, and it shall. Namaste brother.
I like his seiko digital watch. Very 80's. A lot of what Ram Dass says makes simple sense. I read Grist for the Mill and be here now and got a lot from both. Interesting guy for sure. A
In dzogchen the highest teaching from tibet we say do not accept or reject anything. Leave things as they are As it is. this maintains a high degree of awarness and clarity of perception. j krishnamurti says:: seeing, just see it as it is. in this non action of seeing all qualities will arise spontanously from moment to moment and will appear as action but without a doer doing anything. Accepting everything as it is still a condition in the mind a subtle clinging a computer program of the brain. This will lead to problems because everyone can not afford to maintain this mental attitude/setting at all times.
serving humanity is a term that can just as easily be interpreted as benevolent, as it can be deemed as malevolent. More so in the field of social activism and aid work

4:32 Note the language here between judging the person vs restraining the behavior but "never putting them out of your heart". That's what I'm talkin' about!
When did this interview happen? Please add the year to the information given. (Truly outstanding conversation. Both Ram Dass and Jeffrey Mishlove are fully engaged and insightful.)
Awesome. I'm thinking about starting my own religion, or organization, or something, to propel consciousness towards re-awakening... That way the people in control will start to remember who they are, and the connection between all things shall manifest into a new reality...where anything is possible.
Jeffrey made mention of it being almost the '90s. I got a kick out of the fact that when they were discussing technological advancements there was no mention of the internet. It wasn't even a big deal yet!
Wow. Does anyone follow Ram Dass on instagram? And notice how their posts, following his death, about BLM completely contradicts his very statements here? I was so surprised by the things they said on the instagram..
WE ARE ALL THE SAME --BORN THE SAME -BUT IN ONLY ONE WAY - WE ALL SHARE THE SAME POTENTIAL - THE ABILITY TO GROW INTO MATURE HUMAN BEINGS - COMPLETE AND WOMEN- - AND SPECIFICALLY TO BECOME THE UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS LIFE AND GOD INTENDS.CARL JUNG UNDERSTOOD PERFECTLY THAT THIS IS OUR REASON FOR BEING PROCESSED THROUGH THIS CONUNDRUM - IT IS CREATED PURPOSELY - CLEVERLY - BEYOND OUR UNDERSTANDING - TO TRANSFORM US IN WAYS WE WOULD NEVER AGREE TO - INTO CREATIONS THAT - AT OUR BEGINNING - AS CHILDREN ---WE COULD NEVER IMAGINE - WOULD BE TERRIFIED TO DARE TO BE --IF WE ONLY KNEW- KNEW THE PATH WE WOULD FOLLOW - BE PUT THROUGH - TO GET THERE --TO BECOME THE TRUE MATURE FINISHED PRODUCT - THE COMPLETE PERFECT WORK OF ART OF AN IMAGINATION OF AN ARTIST INVISIBLE - THAT KEEPS ITSELF A COMPLETE MYSTERY - and WHICH DOES ALL THE WORK THROUGH THE USE OF MAGICS - IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO "believe in".
Thinking Allowed is probably one of the most important shows for the human life. Im very thankful for it.
💖 right
My favorite interview of Ram Dass. He will be missed. RIP
I absolutely love Jeffery mishlove and this program. He’s such a good interviewer as well as an intellectual in conversation can’t get enough of these.
I’m obsessed!!
he's awesome
I am incredibly impressed with Jeffrey Mishlove in this interview. He is able to reach the depths that push even Ram Dass. Beautiful
He was my first teacher when I read "Be Here Now" and saw him in meditation in 1972.Its 2012 and I am back on the path that I knew was the way then but didn't work on myself, He is a great teacher and incredible intelligent.Love him
'Do what you do with another human being but never put them out of your heart' Love that :)
Same
Today is the day i discovered Ram Dass and Terence McKenna. I really appreciate these two. I`m so happy today. My brain was starving.
I am loving awareness
Beyond the intellect and into the sublime. Ram Dass is relaxed, trusting and deeply in the moment, his answers are deep but seem very authentic to me. Jeffrey Mishlove does a great job too in pushing the boundaries of someone who is off the page, both intellectually and spiritually.
very true. Mishlove may not be as in touch as RD (it's a competition, you see :P) but he's very close as far as i can tell
Yes, they're not totally ego-free yet. ;-)
'Do what you do with another human-being but never put them out of your heart."
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Ram Dass is amazing. Every second thought of his makes me rejoice. Bless him.
Thank you for posting this....The truth spoken by Ram Dass has had a big part in my recovery from addiction and depression...
Beautiful man.
Hes so young! Ive seen so many of these interviews. Thank God for these learning opportunities and experiences.
Just discovered Ram Dass Wow Better late than never
I could listen to these two guys all day.
Wow loved that chat! We are all just different forms manifesting the one.

"it's just a beautiful dance of this delicate form of the One at play…"
such descriptive eloquence, such truth-encapsulating simplicity. OM PEACE RD

Such a great host for such an amazing guest!
Amazing!!! I'm so glad I discovered Ram dass! I think it's the best thing youtube ever did for me! Namaste!

Incredible talk
I love Ram Dass. This was so helpful to hear and be reminded of what is important is also very simple. Thanks for sharing this.
This guy has throughly learned the vedas, you can literally feel it in his words. God bless!
He is helping me on my path so much right now...
Exquisite. On service, 14.15 to 15.30. Wow. Service. Service for the sake of service. Not for a purpose or gratification. Powerful. :-)
You've got to love the Thinking Allowed set. Black background, a table & 2 chairs. That's all you need!
Worth a look in. Literally as well.
This is so much beyond a discourse on religion. I came here because I came here.

I love how this guy looks at everything both ways, thats how i do it and it explains alot sometimes
11:43 We are never separate :)
Great content, Jeff. Truly enjoyed, thanks
Ram Dass seems to glow with a light from within!
"a beautiful unfolding of awareness thru suffering.." wat a line! (at 20mins 13)
he tears up so often..amazing
The comments about trusting are important, intriguing.
Awesome.
Thanks for your wisdom.
Be still, All is one!!!🙏
We should not harden our heart just to oppose someone. Great!
Excellent, I am listening again🙏
This was great. And I love some of the comments. :)
Ram sharing wisdom, cool.
RIP Richard Alpert ❤
When your name is Rammed Ass, thinking positively is a must.
I literally had to pause this video several times and try to grasp the implications of the statements he was making.
Agreed - not easy listening with the heart only, instead of my thinking "noisy" mind..
@68thirdeye way to go and congratulations to your progress!
I dont know the love and compassion he speaks of that allows a guru or master or teacher to beat their students.
beautiful & so true =)
i'm with you
Brilliant :)
Ram Dass is a beautiful man.

I like the comments on service "When you are in the service of your fellow men and women you are in the service of God'
I love u Ram
Jeffrey Mishlove Phenomal interviewer
Ram Dass makes me laugh. I mean that in a good way.His humor slays me. Namaste

Organised religion, divided mankind today. What a sad state. Spirituality and universality and humanity will bring us back.

Wisdom condensed!
“Unity can only be manifested by the Binary. Unity itself and the idea of Unity are already two.” -Buddha
Immense!
[ Technical note: title should be changed from "1913" to "1931". ]
I know now that if I read every book on the subject, I would still be in the trap. It must take more than words.
Passion ? Passion means literally : PAIN , suffering .
Stars to move out-of-sync around 20:30, but comes back around 21:30 (hang in there :-)
Ramadass' comments are really an excellent reflection on purpose of religion and what they are made of.
my fucking idol, you learn how to keep your heart open in hell

i lke how jeffrey mishlove is being critical here, stressing political issues out - certainly towards such a huge character then Ram Dass

Ram Dass is the ultimate guru. Shame that he had to be cut off.

A number of good words in front or behind the message? I don't care. I love their meanings in messaging my soul
This information is so profound it was dangerous to say before there was modern technology. Its easy for them to it say now (70s/80s?)
