Arthur M.Young: The Self and the Universe (Complete Thinking Allowed program) Host: Jeffrey Mishlove

- How can there be separate things in a universe that is interconnected? How can we be separate beings in a universe created by God? Arthur M. Young, cosmologist, is the inventor of the Bell helicopter and author of The Reflexive Universe and The Geometry of Meaning. Young suggests that the ancient deities act in our psyches as forces that unite the individual with the universe about us.
Thinking Allowed has recently completed the massive task of remastering and digitizing all 450 programs in our series, which aired on PBS stations across the U.S. from 1986 through 2002.
The new, hi-res programs will be made available in various ways yet to be determined. We begin this access process by making available all of the programs we made featuring Arthur M. I've been watching so much of New Thinking Allowed that i forgot how you looked with hair!
What an enlightened man, your guest!!! English is not my first language, but I have lived long in English speaking countries...always wondered how come there wasn't clear understanding about these two words/ qualities/ energies - Spirit n Soul in these societies - often using them alternatively... even using the word Spirit is plural form!!! He just clarified it for me - there is only One Spirit... That is how I had learned in the ancient culture I was raised... Also, we never used the word God as gods!!
Since there is only one God. The highly evolved energies/ realities are called Masters in many ancient cultures... Even the energies of planets n stars are Maters... as I learned when I died n came back.

What a classic. So many interesting insights
Brilliant. I really enjoyed his model of mythopoesis. The Hellenes really did something unique by personifying and objectifying the virtues of their community into their gods, creating a relational system of forces not unlike what you'd find in physics, except one that could be engaged with humanistically, in story.
Jeffrey is a consummate interviewer.

Are we blind or just unconscious of this cosmic path of perpetual optimism, transformation and evolution of consciousness
Little mind blown atm…..so Arthur uses the word “monad” to describe the deeper Self of all egos/personalities/people. Well Charles Finch III has said the Dogons of ancient Kemet used the same word for the threshold between that pure consciousness and the illusive world of form/limitations. Beautiful

He wasn't a founder of Bell. He was hired by Bell.

Bell Helicopter just made helicopters. The US government determined how their helicopters were used.

I’m a woman and I must say that I don’t image the soul as woman. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and wondering why?

It's not a women. There's a difference between a women and the cosmic feminine aspect.
