    Genuine healing occurs when we take ourselves mercifully into our own hearts and accept the totality of our lives. This healing of the soul or spirit, says Stephen Levine, is independent of bodily healing. We harden our hearts when we fail to forgive ourselves of our own pain. In this sense, one can only heal one's self; one can never truly be healed by another
    Conscious living and conscious dying require that we bring our pain into our hearts, rather than wall ourselves off from it. In this moving and personal two-part program, The late Stephen Levine illustrates this point by referring to several cases of dying individuals with whom he has worked

    this man is a hero and a pioneer. He helped me when my mother died and he literally changed my life with his writing.

    Jeffrey Mishlove is such a good interviewer. He can actually listen instead of constantly talking. He gives his guests the space they need.

    (I listen A Lot of Public Radio) I listened to this in passing about 7 years ago & it kinda stuck with me & OmG this just blew my mind the fact that we treat relationships like business transactions. Watching this makes me realize what a sh*tty person I am. I have a Lot of healing to do on myself.

    Another incredible book by Stephen titled "A GRADUAL AWAKENING" . It is truely life altering and must have been on Eckhert Tolles favorite book list. His advice for meditation is so doable, practical and EASY! The best I have ever read from anyone.

    Such a gentle one. Gave something to think about, absolutely. I witness it again and again with great healers. They say they are not healing, but some higher force is, god perhaps. They act as the conduit. At times, ways beyond human comprehension. It's amazing.

    Living with chronic disease and working to support others in similar circumstances, I connect with Steven's perspective on healing very deeply. The journey of healing is gentle, accepting, a heart-mind connection: not to be confused with being passive. If we see a child suffering we need to nurture and take care of the physical and emotional needs of the child. We are that child. Acceptance, compassion, and deep care from the heart is most important. Thank you for this reminder to remember. 🙏🏼💚💫

    Stephen Levine is such an inspiration and his book 'who dies' I read 20 years ago and has been one of the most profound treatises on living and dying I have read! I am very grateful for their pioneering work.

    I heard the easy path is to save yourself, the difficult path is to save other’s.
    I love my family, however this taught me to stick on the east path, I’m not the savior of the world, just mine.

    being responsible to vs for is great sentiment, luv it. But the great myth of awareness and healing and meditation etc has been the notion that somehow on a spiritual path we will be joyous and happy forever. Never been the case. Like the ol cliche goes: 'Before I was enlightened I was depressed. On the path to enlightenment, I was depressed. And when I finally reached enlightenment, I was still depressed.' So it is. peace, aho!

    In his first story , this is a true Christian concept , forgiveness, do unto others as you would have done to you, love thy enemy. Isn’t this the same?

  • @unsinkableheart

    "white blood cells like white cowboys chasing red indians" seems like an unfortunate line for an otherwise wonderful interview. i think stephen caught onto its unconsciously racist language and rephrased it well.

  • @richardgates7479
    @richardgates7479 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some of Stephen's words have no meaning, and we have to impart meaning on to them. I find this bothersome.
