  • In this Q&A session, Ram Dass answers questions about how to love without emotional attachment, the relationship between karma and grace, and how he defines responsibility.
In this recording from 1976, Ram Dass answers questions from a lively Los Angeles audience:
    - How to love without emotional attachment? Ram Dass explores the various levels of love, dealing with attachment, and working with the karma that exists in our life space.
    - What is the relationship of karma and grace? Ram Dass talks about how he perceives grace and the ways it intersects with our karma.
    - What’s his view on vegetarianism? And who is God? Somehow, those questions are connected.
    - How does Ram Dass define responsibility? A responsible being lives in the Tao.

“And what grace turns out to be is all the forces that exist in the universe that are free agents, that are available to support the process of your going back into the source. All the gurus, all the beings on astral planes, all of the elements, all of the forces in the universe.” - Ram Dass

He was amazing …. How he was able to talk for hours in front of such unconscious people who laugh at his wisdom statements. He loved his guru and just floated around after Maharaji left his body. Like he lost his compass in a way. Now he has left his body all we have is these recordings. Maharaji sent him back to USA to make people laugh … which he had an uncanny knack of being able to do. Christianity is a way of controlling unconscious people. Be still and I know that I am. Jesus was talking about an impersonal sense of I am I exist I am alive through god’s grace. Nail me up and I will come back ….. who you really are not who think you are. Ram Das was the real deal.

Christianity can be limiting if approached dogmatically. So can buddhism, hinduism, or any other religion. Sounds like you're angry at your outdated view of Christianity. Mature it and you will find that what limited you was your beliefs, not it's overarching message & purpose.

And maybe theyre laughing because they relate to what hes talking about, not because they are unconscious but the opposite, they are conscious of what hes speaking of in their own experiences & find it comical because what hes saying is true. Judge not, lest ye be judged..

Well, anyone who is unconscious, will be controlled by any religion that they partaken so to specifically speak about Christianity is kind of dopey

Struggling on the path is just a way of avoiding the truth. Rest as awareness, train your focus, stop resisting any energy. Guilt, shame, joy, love, lack, invite it all in.

20 minutes in Ram Das compares practicing spirituality in a cave in the Himalayas, to practicing spirituality in LA or NYC in a very interesting and entertaining way. Such wonderful public speaker and a truly compassionate human being. ❤

Never done it in a cave but LA is the last boss of practicing spirituality.

I really appreciate the little summary Jackie does in the beginning. When it happened, what event it was a part of, a brief synopsis, all not taking very long.
A welcome prologue to the amazing talk!

Thank you for the upload... You provide an interesting thought exercise at the introduction .. we should try to dissolve our rigid stances about the world, yet we so readily believe we live on a globe... we should strive to seek truth about all the many planes of existence yet the many don't give much thought to the nature of the very physical plane we exist in

He went to see adult movies as well. Lol. He used to crack a lot of jokes on it (TH-cam video). Infact he got someone pregnant in the ashram before he married her! There is a video from that lady on TH-cam.
