- This year at the 2024 Paris Olympics we are going to see a first for distance running. All distance track events including the 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 10000m have people capable of breaking the World record.
The women’s 800m is currently dominated by British runners with 3 running the fastest 3 times this season Keely Hodgkinson is fastest with a 1:54.61 which ranks her 6th on the all time list.
The men’s 800m has had 4 of top 10 fastest runs in history be recorded in the past few weeks and Djamel Sedjati has looked comfortable running 1:41.46 this season only half a second behind David Rudisha’s world record.
Jakob Ingebrigtsens 3:26.73 puts him within 3 quarters of a second of the current 1500m World record and with Josh Kerr looking to repeat what he did last year at the World championships, it will take an extremely fast race to win the Olympic gold.
The women’s 1500m already has the World record holder Faith Kipyegon in the race so a chance of another World record is obvious, but theres also Gudaf Tsegay, and Jessica Hull who have both ran 3:50 this season.
You forgot about the runner who's going to Win the 5000m , Jacob .... he's only won last two WC 5000m titles and broke 12:50 when he was 20 years old - over 3 years ago
theres a good chance he wont run the 5 to focus on the 15
@@mikestanley4501 I guarantee he will run the 5000m unless he gets hurt in the 1500 .... the 1500 is first and over before the 5000 starts .

1:27 Kerr only has one WB, Jakob has multiple world records, indoor 1500m and 2000m and 2 mile WB.
@@KarthikSusie yes and Jakob has stronger records. Still, Josh's 3:45 in the mile is massive.
@@KarthikSusie and he will soon have the 3000m record when he races in Poland after the Olympics , and maybe the 1500m in Lausanne , the first Diamond league meeting after the Olympics .
If he sets 1500m record at Olympics or Lausanne I believe Zurich will change 1500 to the Mile to give Jacob a chance to set that WR
If the 5000 is tactical, as in the last 2 WCs, Jakob will win. Gebrhiwet and Cheptegei have excellent chances for gold in a fast race at WR pace.
@@CliveBramham honestly Jakob is probably the fastest 5000m runner so I think he wins that way even more convincing
Jakob has not TT a 5k in a MINUTE. A 7:23 3k last PRE has to mean he’s in the 12:30s atp
@@Trackstaa_ agreed, his training is perfect for 5k idk why ppl always act like he's a kicker when he obviously isn't. He just likes the 1500 and neglects everything else haha

@@aaroneskelson1799 he's great at every distance from 1500m to 5000m .... the greatest of all time , pretty much , especially when he gets in a real 5000m race not a championship 5000
Much people don't know that Jacob Ingebrigtsen is a much better long distance runner, even the "experts", but if he will try he has a better chance for taking the 5000 m world record than the 1500 recird.
@@arnegerhardsen3755 Jacob will hold every WR from 1500 to the 10000 .... most people don't know how fast Jacob really is he set World age group records in the 800m at 14 and 15 .
If he trained to be a 800m his pr in that event would be way better than his current pr he set in 2020 of 1:46.45 . Jacob runs a 110 miles a week and doesn't do speed work
Explain why "the less said about the top x5 female 800m runners the better" please? All drug cheats, even Caster?
