You didn’t fail, you just finished early. Thank you for always pushing yourself for this channel. You inspire me to keep going but to also be kind to myself so that I can go longer.
Thomas the universe always gives us the lesson we needed and even more so the experience to lead us forward. Losing the camera 📷 meant those moments were only meant for you and your team/people you encountered that day. Somethings are just for you, the gift 🎁 today, the present 🎁. The second venture you showed its okay to not complete something as the next time you do it will mean so much more. Not completing doesn’t mean it wasnt awesome for us to be there with you in spirit. Much love to your growing family. ❤
If you’ve stopped the ride, then it is extreme as you are the most dedicated and push to such limits. Just short of 600km in a week is remarkable, for most people 330km in a week is good going. Thanks for the video as always, we missed you last week. Also, MAAP gear looking magic. Happy birthday to the team director❤
“….it becomes like an old bit of leather down there…”😂😂. I got visions of an old cracked Chesterfield… Hats off to you, 260k in those conditions are hardly a failure. Great work and great vid. Cheers!
260+km is still a BEAST of a day. Massive kudos. And smart call. Thanks for uploading this, always great to see the highs and lows, even when the lows are after a massive effort!
Keeping going when your cooked , great strength physically and mentally, you’ll feel extra strong from it, listening to your body and calling it a day when it’s needed, another good watch from you, cheers
Hope you enjoyed....oh yes. One day you're a Cockerell the next a feather duster. Anyone who rides bikes knows exactly how you felt mate. But it's those rides that can be the most memorable. Thanks for sharing Thomas. Big respect brother❤️🏴🏴
Awesome vlog Thomas Great action "pulling the plug" Any endurance event, on the "horse", running long distance, very fine line between feeling OK ish, stubbornly driving on & suddenly becoming disorientated etc, entering heatstroke territory ! Sure the last thing Rach & Daisy wanted to see was you "flat out" recieving medical attention, or worse on that final Beast of a climb ! "Blistering" view from that bridge "pit stop" ! ☀️ 🦅
Great effort. I live near Granada Spain and I always take a Buff on a ride for cleaning glasses, as a flannel but when I ride through a village I’ll soak it under a fountain and wear it under my helmet. It’s cooling and protects my (bald) head and the back of my neck from the sun.
Great effort, sometimes it’s not about completing the objective but recognising the signs your body is giving you. Better to stop and appreciate achieving what has passed, recover, reload, refocus and start again from a better place. ☀️ 🥵 🎉 🚲
What an effort. Can only imagine the pain and the heat and of course knowing the elevation to come at the end sheesh!!! Makes me a tad concerned for my first Gran Fondo event at end of August!! Time to get the miles in the old legs stat!!!!!!
Fantastic effort in a fantastic place. 260k’s is a huge effort at the best of times. Two good friends of mine are shortly moving near you, one of them an avid cyclist and following you of course. Nick, if you’re reading this, you know what you have to do 🤜
oh boy!! Amazing video! With only one week to recover between two huge rides.... It takes courage and a great set of balls! Props man! Planning myself a solo ride from my home town to Serra da Estrela. It will be *only* 200kms but with 5000 meters of climb and climbing to the top coming from Vide to Torre passing through the famous "Adamastor" climb (ask your Portuguese friends, they will tell you all about it) and I still haven't find the courage to do it. Well this video is inspiring me to do it. I guess we cyclists are some sort of masochists on wheels 😂😂😂
No shame in stopping, T. Epic effort and still super inspiring. I’ve got a 100k charity event coming up and your content keeps me pushing the pedals. Love to hit the tarmac with you one day, bro. Respect 🤙🏼
I couldn’t even ride half of that and considering you rode the same route the week before you should be so proud as that was one big effort! Love the content keep em coming 👊🏻
Your a nutter ! 1 week after and your at it again…. Accepting defeat is not easy, i did asterton bank in Shropshire last week on a 28T compact got half way couldnt move my legs, gravity won. I sulked all the way home in the car 😅 i am going to attempt it again but on a 30T. Keep up the content my go to guy 👍

Damn bro what a beast! 😁 Can't imagine such a climb after such a distance 😮 finished my 213km's 57h fasted last week aswell but it was only 500m of elivation gain. Its on my channel aswell ur a real inspiration! 😁 I would let you tattoo my chicano tattoo it looks good every intro you do. You made a good decision 260k is still alot and you've completed it with group thats sick allready 🙌
It’s was brutal… I forgot to mention in the video, the week before when we completed the final climb we got caught in a storm and it was absolutely tipping it down, thunder and lightning… the works! Was mental… 🤣🙈
@@TheCyclingTattooist Damn thats sick bro 😮 looking forward to such adventures aswell and seeing you do them aswell, the footage you lost must have been sick aswell 🙈
So you got your body to eat through all your muscles? There is no pride to take in that honestly! What’s the point of doing such a distance fasted? Coming back and unleash your hungry beast!? There is no medal for doing stupid things mate. Look after yourself, fuel your rides properly and do it the right way. Good luck 👍
@@JulAlxAU Sure man you don't understand being fat adapted and the benefits of fasting. I can use 50000- 100000 calories using fat when i have 15% bodyfat before using muscles. There is no pride in such a comment like yours 🤡 I don't tell anyone to do what i do and i'm proud of every archievment someone gets!
@@DeRoller98 You are talking to someone who’s been on a keto/carnivore diet for years and did a marathon on that. I quit that diet soon after I picked up cycling. Low intensity, yeap, high intensity, no way! Even with a lower intensity, you still burn a mix of carbs and fat, albeit not as much carbs. You may think you are achieving something, but you are harming yourself and your performance. I get how you feel; I have been there, but I know what a disservice to the body is to do such an intensive workout like cycling on a low-carb diet. Be focused on science, not the opinions of some influencers out there.
Great effort and video. It must be an unwritten rule that all cyclists must ride with their hands on the tops regardless of the gradient when bonking as it feels just that little bit easier 🥵
The first time we all stayed the night and then got a train back the next day… the second time obviously came back in the car… There’s nothing like a one way adventure! 😁🙌
And I was surprised right away, seeing you on such a hot and sunny day in a black long sleeve! No wonder that you got cooked! Probably also a heat strike in addition to not being recovered. Well, next time you do it right! ;)
In fairness that LS jersey is a super thin one… they call the fabric ultralight or something like that, it’s good up until like 20 odd degrees… just maybe not 28! 🤣🙈
28 degrees is the temperature we leave our house at 5am in Florida. We typically are riding in 95 - 100 degrees through the summer. Great effort but your fitness must be better if you are going to hit this distance.
What a constructive comment. You’re so incredibly fit, you animal. Let’s just gloss over the fact that if you ride 260km in Florida you’ll achieve about 30 feet in elevation lol….. Cycling in Florida is about 400x easier than any place that actually has hills. Also he did this route the week before… occasionally people have an off day. But probably not you because you’re the fittest Florida man there ever was. Try not patting yourself on the back so much.
