The 50 gallon fuel tank on the 2020's is a nice upgrade.
You bet, I’ll cross aux fuel tank off my mods list. Don’t think that’ll be available with Mega cab but I’ll get the crew cab anyway so I can get the long bed.
I thought his flattening the rear seat bases down to the floor was great as well, wonder if you can do this with Laramie crew cab.
@@MichaelBrown-kk6ck Crew cab are the same under the rear seats with the tubs as always. With the 17 speaker HK system, the passenger side under seat tub is entirely consumed by the sub.
That was a huge win for me when not finding a suitably equipped 2019 and ordering the 2020.

Same. But my biggest dream breathtaking diesel truck is that ford Super Duty Limited. A buddy of mine has one, 22 yrs old like myself, he got that F450 Limited!!! He's 6'11 driving that high dollar gorgeous lighthouse of a dually around. Big ole dually worth $97K on the lot. But if I want a Ford Limited truck I'd go for the F150 or F250/350.

Thanks for the video. Ram has definitely set the bar high for fit and finishes. I’ve driven them all recently and no one is even close when it comes to the quality of the leather, seat foam, center console design, navigation and information system. The exterior design is good.
Where RAM needs to spend some time and effort.. 1) Not enough paint color options especially on the deeper rich tones. Currently GMC, in my opinion offers the best paint color options. 2) bed step. Ford offers the best tailgate bed strep out there. GMC’s tailgate is actually really nice. I do like the new RAM 1500 split tailgate but, again a tailgate step similar to a fords would be huge. 3) RAM HAS A great diesel on its 2500-3500’s but it’s 1/2 ton trucks only have the HEMI. My work truck has a 3.5 eco boost and I’ll never go back to a v-8. It pulls 11,000 pound trailers like they aren’t there and the gas mileage is outstanding IF YOU don’t push it.
4). Finally, Ram needs a raptor challenger.
What I’m looking forward to from RAM. I hope the new Dakota has a Laredo and limited level finish option with a panoramic roof. I’m about to retire and when I do, a luxury mid size would be my first choice. The Ford Ranger is terrible, the GM canyon and Colorado are nice but the interiors are horrendous. The Toyota Tacoma..... well it’s typical Toyota, weak on power, miserly on options and luxury is at the same level as a 1995 Silverado... would have been great in 95, but way behind today.
Man JB... that is the dream truck I have been looking for. Spec'd out exactly how I would order it (minus the backup alarm... I am sure my neighbors would appreciate that option missing). I just wish my dream budget matched it. Hopefully the stars align soon, but thank you for the video and test drive to show me what the wife and I have to plan for to make it happen!

Love this truck. I wish they would move the comms nub on the top so the running light are all uniform looking. Can't the nub go somewhere else?
I have a 19 Ram turbo diesel 3500 dually mega cab and LOVE these trucks - actually my 4th Mega cab. Just a few things to help you -
a.) the plug you were looking at IS for the camera hook up for inside outside trailer cameras.
b.) the truck you're driving has a 4:10 REAR not axle.
c.) The hood of the truck is higher than the 2016- 17 or Gen 4 not lower.
d.) 3500 dually sits LOWER then a 1500,2500, or 3500 single rear as their wheels are 22 in and dually are 16 Mainly because these trucks normally pull GOOSENECK trailers and can't have higher bed sides.
e.) completely agree with you and would love for you to do a review of the same truck in a longhorn. One of the most beautiful interiors you will find in ANY car or truck. Like your channel , I subscribed - THX !

JB, I just picked up my 2020 RAM 3500 Longhorn today. Question is it possible to assign a Aux switch to toggle the backup alarm? You were talking about disabling the backup alarm and then went right into the Aux switches, so I am a little confused.
Congrats! Inside of the screen where the gauges are, go to commercial settings, backup alarm, and then you can either enable or disable the alarm.
I get to walk out to that view in black everyday. I wish I could get that kind of fuel mileage in mine. I suspect it’s because I live a mile above sea level and have only gone up in elevation over the last 7k miles. Great video, as always!

The 12 pin connector is a SAE J3008 connector. New standard fir video and other sensors

Already ordered a Black 2020 F350 Limited DRW and the Momentum 399 Toy Hauler. With full body paint on the hauler, it should look pretty sweet. Should be rolling out sometime in Mid-December. Ram makes a nice lookin truck, but I'm a Ford brotha.

I like the Ram duallies but, not a fan of that style cab or that short bed. I would like the the crew cab with the 8 ft. bed. Love the color of the truck, air suspension is a most for me and some of the other options I saw on the truck you test drove. Thanks JB for the mileage test drive. That is pretty darn good fuel mileage. Thanks for sharing the details about the truck.
I still think Ford has the best style long bed dually. Although I love the look, a short bed dually is a tough sell. Overall this was my favorite truck to review just because there’s just not a lot of them out in my area. Thanks for supporting the channel Rich!
@@JB_WhoWork love my mega cab short bed, plenty of clearance to tow and back my 5th wheel room for aux fuel tank which is my only complaint 31 gallons @ 7mpg towing, not cool! That truck would ride better if you lowered the tire pressures, 80 front and 60 to 65 rear.

I love the mega cab, I hate the short bed on a dually. Would it really hurt that much to put an 8 foot bed behind the mega cab? The truck is already 35 feet long, another 18 inches wouldn't matter. Short bed dually's of any brand just look funny to me but the mega cab just exaggerates it that much more. It doesn't bother me so much on a single wheel truck.
Can’t build long bed mega cab in Mexico as assembly plant can’t fit in the required space. I’ve wondered if that might be a possibility when they move production to US plant. Thought that was supposed to happen soon.

Mine is lower because of dually 17" wheel by manufacturer. Using both spring and leaf
Nice video- love that truck. FYI- The wheelbase is about the same on the mega to the regular crew cab, that is why the bed is shorter.

JB Reviews actually overall length for both is about 260 inches.

You must have just missed that, they started ordering 2020's mid December? I just put in my order Jan 15. You can find it on the 2020 Ram Build and price website since around Jan 7.

For 2020 the longbed will have a 50 gallon tank! I don’t think the MegaCab will have it available though

The only problem is the bed of the cab you need a 8 foot bed Dooley with a 12 suspension you’re gonna be pouring a little over the limit of any kind of fifth wheel doesn’t matter if is 30 or 42 foot
I'm pretty impressed kn how well you know the vehicle. You did miss the rear air ride. Maybe I misheard. It sounded like you said it does not have overload leaf springs.
Thanks, any dually that is optioned with air suspension removes overload leafs springs.
Have owned five Dodge duallies over the years two Laramie longhorns love them but would like to see 8 speed trannny and bigger wheels would complete the 2020.

I have been looking for a similar type truck in my area. I was told I have to go into the dealer and order what I want. At that point how do I get a good price. Trucks on the lot often have incentives, etc. If I order through the dealer is there a standard discount on MSRP. I would think that there should be something considering it is sold, and it is just paper work????
I would spec put the truck you want then come to an agreement with price (always look for similar prices trucks on the ground to go off of) . From there you just have to hope the incentives get better once your truck arrives. It doesn’t cost anything to order nor should you pay a premium but if they say you have to pay more, go to the next FCA store down the street.
Check out Dennis Dillon in Caldwell ID. Same price ordered vs off the lot, & well below other dealers. I figure it’ll be well worth the price of a one way plane ticket to get truck there. Will probably order from them in June.
The Mopar hitches are Curt A-Series. I have Curt A-25 and love it. It will go into my 2020 3500 Limited

Have u driven the 3500 with standard output cummins and the 68re trans? I love the idea of the ho with aisin trans but its a 3500 option!!!!

Standard output has the 19:1 compression ratio so it should get better mpg! Please investigate
I can tell they made enhancements to the 68RFE because now it’s more refined/smooth. I only bought the HO because I wanted my next truck to shift shift less but that’s not the case. These trucks are geared more towards fuel mileage because even in tow/haul, it shifts way too early. I agree, my trailer is only 12600# so realistically a gas truck would have been fine but the HO is no joke! Fuel mileage is very similar between the two Cummins.
@@JB_WhoWork they have 850 and 1000 lb ft. They should shift soon and keep the rpm low. They have 3.73 axle and not 3.42. So they cant be focused to much on mpg...
U know your 10mile mpg runs r shit... u have the ho. Find a standard output and do 100 mile test! Surely a viewer has one u can use.
Got one and deleted everything on the emmisons side. I realize you can't do that in the US but here in Canada, without that crap a averaged 12/100 kms or 25mpg and I have no DEF to pay for and that is empty. The 68 RFE with some tuning is every bit as good as the Aisin. I tow a 13.500lb horse trailer and haven't towed the trailer enough yet to give you the pig on the truck for that.
I have a 68re and Aisin both 3500s and the 68 is smoother in shifts and toes like the old body with a tune. No disappointments
I heard that they redesigned the 2020's to make them lighter. Do you know if that is true?
No they are going to have same weight as 2019’s but the 2018 and earlier are heavier than ours which turns in to additional capacity 👍🏾
@@JB_WhoWork Darn. I think my new truck is going to be about 3600 for payload. I'm looking at a Montana 3560 with an uvw of about 13k. Wondering if I can pull that if I don't fully load it up during travel.
What truck did you order? Was it a longbed HO? I would figure your weight to be around 14500#’s for the fiver once you start adding in options/gear so figure hitch weight will be about 3045#’s. If you have kids, dog etc you probably may want to consider skipping options like dual pane windows and the generator.
If you didn’t get a limited or Longhorn or HO, you could be in the 4K range assuming you have a 12300# GVWR.
@@JB_WhoWork Its a ram 3500 Laramie diesel crew cab short bed. Gvwr is 11800. I'm guessing the pin weight on that fifth wheel would be 2800 to 2900. Add another 500 for us and dogs puts us closer to 33 to 3400. If I only have 3600 payload, would that be cutting it too close? We did order it with the air suspension. Not sure if that matters.
Also, that 500 pounds for us includes the weight of the slider hitch.
They double charged the HO MOTOR. It’s listed in Standard equipt and optional equipt

scott back you can have it done. It's a $7,000 mod "I emailed stretch my truck". And the truck is like 22 1/2ft long. Which isn't a huge leap if you already drive a long truck. A crew cab with an 8ft bed is 21 1/2ft. A mega would only be 11inches longer
Yeah, with a 90’ turn radius. Gotta grind down the steering stops so I can turn sharper, turn radius is pretty pitiful as is, which is one reason I’m considering an F450 over this.

I’ve had my run with super duties. Not a fan of them anymore because of several things that drive me nuts on them. Love the F450 setup but just wish another manufacturer would build one like it.

WOW,,,I thought when you had the Aisin transmission your also had the aluminum ribbed differential cover on it, This one has a standard cover which usually means you have the regular tranny but your sheet says Aisin. Is this different for 2020? Love the truck though. Torn between this and a F-450 Limited.
They don’t have the aluminum cover anymore like the 18’s and earlier, but this has the Aisin.
Man you have a tough road ahead of you because both trucks are great in their own way and although I’m a RAM guy, the 450 is slightly more robust when you take into account, 19.5” wheels, rear axle, and extended front axle. Good luck with your search and either way you go, you will be happy!
Thanks for the Reply JB. I sure wish Ram would make the 4500 with a bed. It's set up like the F-450 and recently the 4500s could be had with Laramie interior even though it's a chassis/cab set up. But,,,,a 4500 in pickup trim,,,,Man I gotta say Ram is missing the boat on this and I think they would give Ford a run for their money with a truck packaged this way.
John Delvisco I agree. Ford is typically one step ahead with their trucks and the 450 is just one example to that. If RAM could make a MegaCab longbed 4500 and somehow keep the weight down, that would be the truck of the century! Mike Hunt said there’s a conversion but I would prefer it to come from the factory that way!

Andy Hass I drove a longbed dually without air and it was very noticeable how rough the ride was. Duallies without air have overload leafs so I believe this contributes to the harshness.
My truck compared to a dually with air still rides better because SRW 3500 don’t have overload leafs. You won’t be disappointed!

Andy Hass I had a 2018 2500 and I would say my 2019 3500 ride is slightly better than my 2018. The 2019 5-link is better than my truck and if you add air to it, it blows my truck away!
