This is incredible. I’ve been designing stages for fun for over 10 years, I’ve always wanted to hear more about concerts in depth like this. PLEASE 🙏🏼 please please please make a similar video for Taylor’s upcoming tour! “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” I’d love to see something like this from you guys; An in depth video about the lightning, the sound, the stage design, the rigging, the architecture of the stage, and fixtures/other equipment. Please try to see if you could make a video as long or longer than this about Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour!

I came across this video looking for exactly that, as a small stage/lighting designer I really want to hear from the team behind the stage. I don't know if the Era's Tour has some NDAs in play, but I can't tell from basic google searches what production companies are involved, dying to know if this is another Tait masterpiece or what.

While no one should dispute the beautiful quality and in-depth perspective of this video I am disappointed that NO ONE ever talks about the production rigger and engineers that make all of their eye candy possible. Those towers, audio arrays, lights, and video screens would never exist if it wasn't for the under appreciated rigging crew who put it all up and make it safe for everyone to be under.

I went with a group to see it, and I’m not the biggest fan of his music, so I spent a lot of time marveling at the stage design. Beautiful combo of art and engineering. I particularly love the way they use multi colored spotlights to paint designs on the audience. I made sure to stay after a little bit to let the crowd leave and watch the crew pack it up. there’s probably 100 people involved with putting it away several of which put on harnesses and got up in the rigging.

It took 4 days to build the stage and another day to hook up the video panels, lights, consoles, and speakers. Meanwhile, a duplicate stage was on its way to the next stop on the tour. These productions are just massive.

Sensational video. I couldn’t agree with Chris more, the feeling you get when the lights go out and the crowd lose their mind is unlike any other feeling. I spent 15 years on the road, I worked in that very stadium a few times and so many more as an audio tech. It can be really tough being away for so long, but those times make it all worth it. I’ve left the industry now and seeing this makes me miss some parts of the job. Still some of the best years of my life though.

We went to the show at Soldier Field in Chicago and it was fantastic! The engineering needed to create that set with the floating halo amazing. All the pieces worked beautifully; at least to my untrained eyes. The IMAG screens shaped like guitar pics, the lights on the pillars and the halo. I recorded parts of the show and every time I watch the video, I discover something new. But it works and Ed Sheeran is free to roam the stage, create his loops and share his stories with the audience. Kudos to everyone.

Very impressive production, Really nice to see a full rig of Ayrtons beeing used. The only thing I would comment on, (and that's not a critique of Ed Sheeran or the crew/designers) Is that by the nature of a 360 design, I feel that the lights don't have as much of a presence as a traditionell stage. Also it's outside and that's also affects it. And the point of the artist and the music is to take up the most presence, not an EDM lightshow. Of cause I might be biased towards light because I'm an LD myself, But If I were to design a concert, I would do a clean arena design with tons of lights.

I have to imagine it’s pretty easy if a singer strictly uses pre-recorded vocals versus a singer singing live. So, impresses me even more those artists who sing live.

I used to setup lighting rigs for productions like this. Now I work in aerospace engineering and I haven't looked back 🙃

Fantastic design and phenomenal production value, kudos to the teams that put this together every night.... Its just a shame that all this is for a rather unremarkable artist

and yet he shines the most in smaller venues when he unplugs the guitar and doesn't even use the mic. I think he enjoys that more.

May I know what is that earpiece that's worn by the lighting programmer/director called? At 0:02.

I'm a new aspiring audio engineer and mostly had to do just with standard LR-Setups for now. So I wonder: how does it come, that this circular setup right here seems to work just fine, but the metallica one is said to sound like shit. Is it just the mentioned "masts" at 13:00 or is there more to it? 🤔

I actually thought the loop stations became wireless since they’ve been placed on the rotating stage & there’s a chance that the cables would get caught up in something 😅 but it looks like it isn’t wireless

@eventelevator Since you've got the inside connection, what do you think the chances are of getting some information about the Rigging and Structural Design? I'd love to know what the engineering is like with this unique setup.

Hey Riley, unfortunately we had only limited access to the project here. We had asked about this point in advance and would have loved to show more about the construction/rigging, but that was not possible. Maybe at the end of the tour run it will be a little easier to report more about that point. Check out this for more details on the construction wonder.co.uk/projects/ed-sheeran-the-mathematics-tour-2022/ --- www.stageone.co.uk/projects/ed-sheeran-mathematics-tour/ --- cheers!

I remember seeing U2 with Jay Z in Australia and they had a 360 stage basically. But their sound was pretty terrible for an arena lol Just sounded like a soundscape with bass and bono. No clarity. You basically have to keep each quadrant in its own sound path. But the reflections can be so overpower for cheap seats 😂
