- Rifles are likely the most popular weapon category in Ready or Not. Everyone seems to have their favourites, and has different opinions on which ones are the best.
Depending on factors such as the map, equipment, and rank goal, different rifles will be a better fit different situations.Today, we'll be ranking them all from F to S tier.

The comment i needed. I am stuck on that map for more than a week now! EDIT: Still haven't beat it. 71 tries so far. In comparison the second most played, Cheryessa farm had 40 tries to beat it. EDIT 2: Beat it at the 90th try.

Personally the G36 without the carry handle just looks uncanny to me, kinda messes up the silhouette

Yeah this is the reason why i'm getting bored with ready or not, too many ar-15's i wish they would add more guns that aren't on that platform (not including platforms like the scar and the mcx)
@@1stgenIbishupessima I mean, the game is meant to be at least semi-realistic. You realize that there's already an unrealistic number of weapons to choose from, right? Very few departments in the US authorize AK variants, nobody authorizes FAL variants, nobody authorizes MPX. Reality isn't COD. If you want to dual wield double barrelled shotguns, you're going to need to switch genres.

@@swissarmyknight4306 that doesnt make any sense. he didn't speak of crazy ultra unrealistic stuff just a greater variety of weapons. many guns in the game are probably not even used by SWAT yet are there for that variety. personally they adding weapons which fit other police forces to allow the people from those places who play the game to immerse themselves is something nice. (principally with the custom maps existing and being set all over the world)

The police dep in my town allows you to use a personal weapon as your long rifle but you must submit and inspection form and it has to be tested and made sure it's in spec as well as firing a certain round so you could in theory use a FAL
Regarding the SCAR buffer tube, there are afteremarket buffer tube adapters for a number of rifles that don't actually need a buffer tube. The purpose isn't for the function in the action. It's because the dimensions of the buffer dube are used in a large number of aftermarket stocks meant for AR-15s.
One example of this in gaming is how Tarkov has AK Buffer Tube adapters so you can put AR stocks on an AK and many of these stocks are better for recoil and ergonomics than most AK stocks, even though the buffer tube adapter doesn't actually have a buffer tube in it.
Yeah, additional fun fact, special South Korean Police units use AR-stocked SCARs :D So it's not out-of-place in a police game

Another fun fact: the german police force using the Scar-SC with the weirdest stock i have ever seen on a rifle.
Not to say that in recent years, internalized bolt carrier groups for DI ARs have been developed to allow them to be used with folding stocks or in other words, without their buffer tubes
But in reality "buffer tube stocks" are horrendous to use because they nuke all the place you have behind the sights. You need to hold it in a stupid way to aim or put it so high on your collar bone it is the definition of stupid.

Another note about the MK-18 frontsight post I like to point out:
Imagine you're aiming with your flashlight on through your red dot sight. Depending on the lighting conditions, your flashlight's light cone can out shine the brightness of your dot.
But it will never be able to out shine the frontsight post. It's something you can always fall back on.
This, among others, is why I'm still a fudd with a front sight on my ARs

God , I miss when you could access the G3A3 and Remington 700 .And when most of the Mods for aesthetic changes (Like the AKM mod and wooden furniture mods) .

The shootout you mention was ended by LAPD going into a nearby gun store and taking rifles out with them. The California DOJ later revoked that store's license for letting have the rifles without filing the proper paperwork.

Yes and no. The officers did acquire weapons from the gun store but the shootout was over before they could deploy them. One suspect shot himself, the other was taken out by the SWAT team who already had AR type rifles.

For most of my time in RoN, I ran the HK416 because of its looks, German design, and it's AR properties. Then the F90 came, and the extremely low recoil was too appealing along with the 300 Blackout LVAR. However, the SA-58 OSW-no matter how unwieldy it is to use and how unprecise my shots are-is awesome to bring out when I want introduce suspects to their new god: 7.62x51 NATO out of frustration.

My headcanon for why the AR pattern rifles recoil more than the G36 is that all of them are overgassed 😂
Mk18 is notorious for being overgased. because you need a mid-length gastube to control bolt-speed. there simply isn't room for one.
And some really hot ammo. With some of the hotter military rounds the barrel life is only around 3k to 4k rounds before it is changed.
@@Tuulos I think that is only with M855A1 and M995. I doubt that a SWAT team is using anything that hot and is probably sticking to M193 or maybe Mk262/another 77gr projectile.

Firearms Engineer, this video is incredible and your knowledge of self evident. Only flaw i found is at 8:00, because the AR-15 is fake DI, the gas doesnt push on the gas key, but instead travels though, and pushes on the back of the bolt, treating it like its a piston. Also the HK 416 is inspired by the AR-18 of IRA fame. Amazing video like i said

All the .300 blackout guns are S tier, based on the fact that it takes fewer bullets to kill than a 5.56
Not always, on a lot of the maps they take the exact same amount of shots to kill as a 5.56
Hell, on some maps (Elephant, Lethal Obsession) even the FAL takes 2 shots to drop a person, same as the 5.56 rifles - because the suspects have more health.
I will agree, the G36 seemed to be the lowest recoiling 5.56 rifle in the game. I was however very butthurt when they removed the Trigicon SRS from it. It's got the largest window with the smallest dot making it my favorite in the game, second would be the (L)EOTech so now I never use the G36. Second sexiest rifle in the game though next to, my beloved, the SA-58. Becuase the right arm of the free world is not to be triffled with!

No matter how good other options are the SLR-47 is always going to feel better. 30 round mags and firepower that is nearly comparable to the SA-58 is invaluable.

Thats probably because the SA58 has a tiny barrel. 7.62x51 without a long barrel is basically a worse 7.62x39. 7.62x51 uses slow-burning powder and almost all of the energy from the cartridge is lost by using a short barrel.
I'd also like to add that integrally supressing a rifle makes the suppression more effective. That's what the Russians did with the Groza, AS-VAL and VSS Vintorez. Makes the gun even quieter.

30:37 here in brazil the main weapon of the police force is the standard issue FAL which has been used for a very long time by the army. when i play RON and i wanna roleplay being some brazilian force me and my friends use it and penetrate every single wall in the map

One thing about the SA58 is that Brazil uses them as theirs Patrol Rilfe, usually found in armored cars that goes up the Favela.
And as A Brazilian, I like that gun in here. Some times playing this games i like giving Accurate gear for characters of their nation. So giving A German a AUG, and in this case, I like playing the ParaFAL.
I rank this Tier list video an S tier. Awesome editing, awesome music selection. Plenty of great knowledge and mega based firearm opinions. 11/10

An update I would love for the devs to add would be a more in depth weapon customization/modification.
Like changing hand guards, gas blocks, gas tubes, sight posts, lower or upper receivers, etc. the game is very obviously geared towards the MilSim crowd so those who are interested or have knowledge of firearms would benefit and those who don’t care enough wouldn’t need to bother with it.
But I’d love to be able to say lower the amount of gas coming down my gas tube to decrease felt recoil, or change out stocks even if purely for cosmetic purposes. Tons of things they could add to bring even more value to the game. And I know the mods are there but honestly I’ve tried a lot of them and they either make the game run poorly, sometimes don’t even work, and have even glitched out entire maps for me so it’s more hassle than it’s worth.
Switching from Bean bag shotgun to SA-58 is the best feeling ever.

The best rifles are those that are being used by the suspects, a fully automatic m14 with no recoil placing accurate headshots, now thats art
The rifles also seem to always go where you aim with no bullet drop aswell, its like theyre magical

I do not own a firearm myself (located in Germany, so access is limited, to say the least) and don't have any more knowledge about them as playing games may give you, so putting the detailed rl information to the game performance got me a lot of new things to be aware of ingame. Amazing, how much detail went into gun looks and performance ingame!
I play the SWAT series since SWAT 2, but with job and kids, I can't dive in every detail of Ready Or Not as deep as you did, so I apprechiate the inspiration.
And finally, I had a very good time with your style of ranking the gear. Great performance, ugly handguard? No S-tier then. Way to go!

As the SA-58 motivation poster says, "Just keep climbing".
I heard rumors that the devs are fixing recoil patterns of the weapons one by one. That's probably why some guns feel better than the rest. The G36, F90 and BRN180 were said to be the first few to receive new recoil pattern updates.
G36 and F90 go so hard meanwhile the SR-16 is my behated

The older M4, M16 rifles shipped with the raised front iron sight. This doubled up as the gas block. As you have noted, the later models (eg, Mk 18, 416) shipped with a low profile gas block opening opportunities for the various handguard options.

I’ve never played this game or seen footage, yet I was captivated the entire time. The SCAR16 with the buffer tube is a common modification so that the user can place M4/AR15 stocks on it. The stock can usually still fold and the bolt carrier does not travel into the buffer tube
Really nice to see someone who has knowledge about guns talk about this game. Most people would approach this typa video like a Call of Duty type tier list. It also helps that the game is pretty accurate about a lot of stuff. I’m a gun enthusiast myself and its great that this game actually has good guns irl be good in game and not like another tact game with arcade flavoring on top.

an important thing to note about the SLR-47 is it's alaskan manufacture.
For being a video game video this had a surprising amount of accurate technical and historical firearms information. My man even got the Mk and CQBR distinction correct.

About the SCAR buffer tube. It's a SCAR 15P/SC (sub-compact), not a SCAR 16/L. This is a smaller package, usually used by civilians but sometimes used by law enforcement agencies around the world.

Another benefit to the MK18's front sight base, is that if you're using an optic with just a plain dot, you can use the wings of the fsb to bracket targets, and create a pseudo Eotech reticle to help speed up close distance shooting
that ending got me remembering traumatic memories of trying to beat Max Payne 3 on the hardest difficulty as a wee lad
Loved the Paul Harrell bit, but i think adding the segments where he shows the groups before the conclusion would be better at proving the point
10:03 While the G-36 itself didn't compete against the M4/M16 family in US service, the XM8 KEW (one of the spin-offs of the OICW program after its failure) *did* compete for the honor, and is mechanically a G-36, with slightly different exteriors and optics, with the inclusion of a then-proprietary mounting system.
Ultimately, the US DoD decided that while it was an improvement over the M16s of the time (M16s at the time generally were only issued with iron sights, so the XM8 having integral optics was an improvement), it wasn't enough of an improvement for the DoD to procure it (and ultimately, widespread adoption of Picatinny and optics would give these guns the benefits of optics and accessories).

Personally before modding the game I'd say the only ARs I touched were the MK18, G36C and MCX regularly however the SA-58 is like your best non-modded rifle for long range I actually loved using it on maps such as Greased Palms or the Vineyard where you have real sightlines as you can have your team run in and try to handle stuff but if they miss a target or there is one to many for them just doming them long distance was so satisfying.
i've always been a fal main, and the 1.0 update has further cemented my feelings on the gun. given how much more dangerous the ai has become, if i need to shoot somebody then i don't want them to get up again

the reason why I pick the BRN-180 over the LVAW is I prefer it's iron sights, so I find it's a fair trade for that little bit of extra surpressed length

I got so tired of AR platforms that I kept using the SA58 until now. Doesn't let you down.
I remember when i got so pissed off during ides of march, that i equipped all my officers except one with a SA-58 (other guy had a shotgun) and everybody (except me with a Python to use with my shield) had a Five-seven. Oh, and full steel armor.

When it comes to actually ranking the guns objectively, the arn-180 is THE best gun in the whole game. Especially with JHP rounds.

the reason the scar has a buffer tube is for wayyyyy more options for stocks. it’s still a weird choice but void used reference from actual swat teams so some people use it.
regarding to the g36 KAC top rail, there are 2 versions. One is shorter, which is exactly the one in the game. And the other one is longer(the one that could fit lpvo).

SA58 tends to outright kill where other rifles incapacitate, for that reason I'd personally put it in A-tier. You can still pass "Arrest X" objectives with other rifles.

for meta gamers: G36C even though it looks ugly af seems to be the best one in terms of recoil which is honestly the only notable difference between the AR's anyway if not then just use a really short one like MK 18 Mod 0 or the bullpup. But if you are real ass gamer who want to be able to get incapacitate with 1 shot to the chest go with SA 58 battle rifle its bettern than all of the other 5.56x45mm shit. Before 1.0 update where incapacitate gave you full points as if you had gotten an arrest that gun allowed me to get S rank on every mission during ADAM update times.

Just a few corrections from a fellow gun nut:
*The SR-16 in-game appears to have a 14.5" barrel, not 11.5".
*According to the game, the base model MCX is also chambered in .300 Blackout, just like the LVAW.
*As other commenters have mentioned, the buffer tube on the SCAR-16 is a real aftermarket accessory for the SCAR.
Also, a couple notes on the HK416 that you didn't mention in the video:
*In addition to the Geissele Super Modular Rail, the 416 in-game also features a Geissele Airborne ambidextrous gas-busting charging handle.
*The 416 has only recently been mostly phased out in US JSOC service. DEVGRU replaced it with custom-built Noveske AR-15s around 2020, and Delta seems to be changing over to a unique 10.5" version of the SIG MCX Spear LT in 5.56 called the Close Support Assault Weapon or CSAW as of last year. However the 24th STS may very well still be running the 416 as their issued rifle. (Speaking of the CSAW there's a mod that replaces the base game's first gen MCX with one)

Fun fact: @2:23 These are Australian Federal Police wielding a Daniel Defense Mk 18 SBR. This rifle was adopted by the AFP after the 2018 Sydney International Airport crisis, in which police were unable to effectively get within handgun range of a large spider causing delays at the airport, because “Jesus look at the size of that thing, I’m not going near it.”
The real-life SCAR stock is polarizing. Many call it uncomfortable. It would not surprise me that a department would elect to replace it with a buffer tube conversion (there are many) and pick a more comfortable stock. See the VLTOR RE-SCAR or others.
