This is definitely the best video I’ve seen! He points out an important step that all the others missed about cutting off the individual tabs to start out with your straight wall and not to cut off the straight edge that has the overlapping area! He follows through on the whole job and yes there are a few ads but he’s very well worth it for all the detail that he points out
Excellent instruction! Your attention to handling the small details really set this apart from most other videos on the subject. Thanks very much. You answered every question I had. Good work.
This is the way to go because designers will have new concepts and ideas so no need for large costly investments installing real tile...the old way is too cost prohibitive. Your video was easy to follow...thanks
Hi! Saw your video a few months & finally ordered the tiles for my kitchen. I can't believe the difference. Feels like a brand new kitchen. Thank you so much! Your excellent instructions are truly changing lives 👍
great video. saw a lot of 7 to 10 min type videos and knew i wouldn't get the right kind how to install instructions watching them where as you put together a nice long 28 or so min video that went step by step from start to finish. thanks for making what seemed a hard job look simple if you just follow the video instructions. went to home depot just this morning to buy some peel & stick to start my kitchen after finding this video and watching it
Yes , that would have been nice. How ever he did show us how to measure and cut out .. so now we know how to do it too !!! Thank you for the video it really helped !
So glad I took a look here at some of the peel and stick projects before heading out to Home Depot and spending time and money to tile the old fashioned way on a place I plan to sell. Looks like a plan, Thanks.
I’m encouraged. About to do this in a few days. Love the patience you took in explaining each step. Before I watched this video I was almost in tears. Now I’m motivated to get it done. Thanks!
It looks good I bet anybody could say that because you're doing it very patiently and you're you look like a professional as again anybody could say that because you really look like a professional I can't say that once I have to say it twice because it's actually really really really good
I'm not telling you but it's in my kitchen back wall Lowe's peel and stick but I did use gorilla glue in my gaps joining them together absolutely beautiful it came out a good job you have done
Thanks for the thorough video. I like the idea of using the backing to make the templates. And the way you explained how to do the corner was perfect. I can't count how many videos of ppl winging it I watched (a couple minutes of) before thankfully finding yours. Now I have to decide the design I want to do ☺
I’m so glad I seen this video. Thank you for the video and clear precise instructions. You made this look doable. I am about to pick out my design from Home Depot😊
You did a great job! I hope your next project is to paint those kitchen cabinets and change out the hardware, Now you have this modern looking backsplash, and it just doesn’t go with the rest of your kitchen, You really did a super job!
Andrew your video was well done and covers a lot of areas of concern, such as a starting point, cutting out receptacles and, handling wall corners. I have a question about the small strip portion you needed to add just below the cabinet. Did you need to use a new tile sheet for each successive strip applied in order to have it match? Or were you able to cut multiple strips from each tile, using a set of remaining tiles, to get each strip to match? Thanks.
Nice and very clear instructions. Still, I would prefer to see how you measure and cut out using the template as this is the most challenging part to work out. Thanks!
New subscriber here. Great video 👍👍👍 since this was posted 3yrs ago, how has the sticker tiles held up??? I'm genuinely curious as I haven't seen any "few years later update videos" anywhere. I'm thinking of using this method to update my kitchen, but I'd like to know: how long do sticker tiles last before they need to be removed or changed again.
Thanks for the support. The house was sold shortly after the application so I’m not sure the status on the tiles. If you clean the wall properly it should hold well.
I love this method and you did a great! I have large tiles on my walls right now and i want to apply the peel and stick backsplash. Can I apply them on top of the large tiles or should I get the large tiles removed before applying the peel and stick?
I would recommend applying them onto a smooth, clean surface. If you don’t want to remove the tiles you should prep them so the tiles stick properly by cleaning the existing tiles and grout with a good grease remover and wait to dry before applying the peel and stick.
Looks awesome, do you know how this will pull off tile ? I would like to install it in my rental on ugly tiles and need to remove it when we leave ..I can't wait to see what other colors are offered !
Ummmm you completely skipped the template step. Most of us DIY’ers are not professionals and the template demo for the outlet would have been nice. No worries we’ll figure it out. Thx for sharing
I've watched hundreds of videos from contractors, homeowners, stores & Amazon, this is hands down the best & most helpful video by far. Thank you! Could you please tell me the color of your cabinet? I'm planning to use briwax for my oak but not sure about the name of color. Also the total cost of your project and if it's still sticking to the wall? Anything you could add?
Thanks for the comment. I stained those cabinets about 10 years ago so I don’t remember the actual stain. I believe it was a mahogany color that was put over oak wood. Hope this helps
Hi. Do you have video of creating the template around the outlet? Did you just lay the backing on the wall and draw out the opening or did you measure it out?
I do not have a video. I lined up a piece of paper with the electric box to get the height (vertical) measurement, then measured the distance from the edge of the sheet to get horizontal measurement.
what is the best way to cut the filler strips above to match the pattern while minimizing wasted material? Can multiple cuts be made with the same tile?
Thanks for the informative video! I notice that your drywall has textured paint too. Most likely orange peel. Im looking to order some peel and stick tiles for my backsplash but read somewhere that it doesn’t stick well to textured drywalls? Did you have any issues post sticking and what do you recommend ? Thanks
I measured first to know how many total, then purchased a few extra in case of errors. I don’t remember exactly how many since this was filmed a few years ago.
I don’t see why not. You might also be able to use a gloss cutter application on the existing tiles instead of sanding. That will also remove the shiny surface and make it more dull. As long as prepped properly it should stick.
How do you finish the tile when you don’t have a cabinet or corner to run into? I want to do this but one side will run into the refrigerator area and I don’t want to backsplash that entire area. Is there a finish piece with an edge you can purchase?
Did you prep the wall and clean it? If there is dirt, moisture or grease it will be hard to adhere to. If everything is clean you could try small amounts of silicone adhesive
I bought stick and peel tiles for my kitchen from large box store. Put them and now so many are peeling away. I paid over $40.00 for package of 4 of the subway tile. Anybody else with this problem of them not sticking and wondering what type of glue I could apply to where they are coming away from the wall. Not all are peeling. Wondering if pulling away due to steam in kitchen? thank you for any replies.
The adhesive doesn’t seem too strong, so it should peel off somewhat easy. You may have to do a little patch work if the wall underneath gets pulled off in areas.

Very good, instructive and detailed video about how to stick the backsplash tiles around kitchen area !!👌
Thank you for this tutorial, I really needed this because I planning on putting Peel and Stick tile in my half bathroom and this helped tremendously!
Excellent video ! You cleared up some of the questions that I had, I can do the job with confidence now.
I was I told to use extra adhesive to make sure these types press on wall tiles last. You really did a nice job

Me too. We are going to put them in our campervan kitchen. Thanks for the clear instructions
Very informative. I had a question about filling in the 1 1/2” section at the top.. how are u cutting to match the pattern? Or doesn’t it matter?
I was using additional sheets and finding parts of the pattern that matched.

To be honest, I don’t know. Reach out to the manufacturer for clarification

No, just installed them flush mount
Great demo. Now to get up enough nerve to try it.
looks magnificent!!
Thanks very informative appreciate
I noticed that this video is 3 years old. How did the peel.amd stick hold up?
Awesome Job
Thanks
How is this holding up after a few years.? I really want to do this, but would like to know how it is holding up. Any info is helpful. Thank you😊
The house was sold about 3 yrs ago. At the time of selling it was great
About how long can I expect to be working on this I am very handy an good sense of this process .
Depends on how big of an area you have to cover.

Home Depot, Lowe’s, Amazon etc. Any home improvement place or online👍
@@PhillipsVision thanks
That’s was Perfect
How are these holding up? Are they still adhering to the wall?
The house was sold, but they were holding fine up to that point.
Great video...
Thx
Looks great👍
Thanks
Hello where can I purchase this from? Thanks
Lowe’s or Home Depot
Can these go on existing wall tiles?
I believe so, as long as you prep them properly. You may want to check with the manufacturer to confirm.
Does the wall have to be perfectly flat? Or does all of the texture need to be removed?
You should smooth and clean it, otherwise it will not adhere properly
I have an outlet right where the tile ends, so it’s going to overlap the edge of the tile. How would you handle that?
@@susanacker8120 you’ll need to cut around the outlet
Beautiful
Nice job
Thx
Thanks for the informative video! I notice that your drywall has textured paint too. Most likely orange peel. Im looking to order some peel and stick tiles for my backsplash but read somewhere that it doesn’t stick well to textured drywalls? Did you have any issues post sticking and what do you recommend ? No, no issues. Just make sure you clean it well before
@@PhillipsVision Thank you! Much appreciated!
How many total tiles did you have to use? A lot of waste(extra pieces)? Does the cap you're wearing help with the installation as well? :)
I measured first to know how many total, then purchased a few extra in case of errors. I don’t remember exactly how many since this was filmed a few years ago.
Nice.
I have textured walls, plus round corners. Can I still use the peel and stick.
It seems it would show the texture underneath and not stick.
You would need to prep the wall first and smooth it. Rounded corners will be a problem, because those will not adhere well to the radius
Is it washable and how durable is it
Can you put peel and stick over tiles if sanded?
I don’t see why not. You might also be able to use a gloss cutter application on the existing tiles instead of sanding. That will also remove the shiny surface and make it more dull. As long as prepped properly it should stick.
How do you finish the tile when you don’t have a cabinet or corner to run into? I want to do this but one side will run into the refrigerator area and I don’t want to backsplash that entire area. Is there a finish piece with an edge you can purchase?
I believe they do make an edge trim. I just cut pieces to finish mine, but they should have special edging.
Thank you
What can I use for edging around the tiles? To give a caulking clean line finish..
I believe you can purchase edging for these, or you use a thin line of caulk and clean it nicely
How do you match the top strips? My measurement is 14” and behind stove, 16”
Are you talking about adding a strip along the top to fill the extra couple inches?
Will these stick to an existing backsplash that is now outdated?
If it’s a tile one you’ll need to prep it so it will stick. If it’s a peel and stick one you’ll need to remove it first and prep the wall
Should you start in the corner/Focal point?
You can. I started on the left side since that was a clean starting point and the area most visible
Will if be ok if i don’t remove my plugs like you did? So that the plugs will look kinda slightly flushed to the sticker tiles
Plugs or plug covers?
@@PhillipsVision plug covers.
@@eqq13 ok, you can leave them. You may have a little gap near the covers
@@PhillipsVision thanks! :)
Nice, What is the name of this tile!
@@nataliesmith299 I don’t remember the actual brand, but they are peel n stick tiles. You can get them at Hone Depot, Lowe’s and online
So how its holding up after 8 months? I'm gonna do mine in bathroom sink area.
Looks great. The house was sold; this was an upgrade for resale
Mine are starting to lift what can I use to lay them back down?
Did you prep the wall and clean it? If there is dirt, moisture or grease it will be hard to adhere to. If everything is clean you could try small amounts of silicone adhesive
Since this is paint do you think the paint will rip.off once removed
I don’t think so. The adhesive is not too strong
I’ve seen it Happen on removal yes
nice and easy!
Did you use several tiles to make the top sections?
I cut strips from whole sheets, but matched the pattern
Why wouldn’t you remove the plastic sheet so you can see where the air bubbles are?
Are the tiles staying affixed to the wall?
Yes
@@PhillipsVision great, thank you. I’m going to install them too.
How many sheets of tile come in a box?
10 sheets

Do you prep the wall properly? Normally, if you prep and apply them properly they should stick with no problem
Get some spray adhesive and put on the back. Not sure if it's rental friendly, though.
Better to take the bottom window trim off.. gives more room and definitely looks better
So to save anyone time you basically cut it and peel and stick it on the wall
Is it easy to come off. I rent and when I move out the was is ok.
The adhesive doesn’t seem too strong, so it should peel off somewhat easy. You may have to do a little patch work if the wall underneath gets pulled off in areas.
