    Ben, very nice stuff! Wear long gloves when you're unloading, I wouldn't want one of those pieces to slice your arm. You should consider adding a rack to the top of your van to carry long pieces or just increase capacity when needed. Cheers!

    Thanks for the update Ben! The prices are still down a bit from when I cashed my haul in earlier this year, but are holding better than I thought they would. I think I was just very lucky with all my scrap (except the stainless steel). I didn't know Manhari takes complete printers and other plastic housing stuff in the mixed pressing steel!

    • @mountdesertrock
      @mountdesertrock ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here in the northeastern US I have one scrap yard that takes printers and other components as pressing steel/ light iron, it’s such a convenient way to get rid of that stuff and make some cash off it!

    • @jhinote1
      @jhinote1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Where I’m at they would take one look at the plastic and grade your whole load as shred. 3 cents per lb. Your a lucky guy.

    I'd be putting a plastic cover or some sort of insulator over the battery terminals if I were you. I was sure we were going to see sparks fly when the PC cover dropped on the terminals, luckily it didn't short anything. Even at low voltage they can cause a big problem - could even weld something.

    Hmm I knew I should have held onto a few of my items and sold them next month on my way past. I got $2.20 for pvc, $3.50 brass, $6 for refinery copper, and a few other items but I didn't have to lug it around I sold it from my garage door. Any idea what copper/alloy radiators were ben.

    What do folk do with laptop transformers once the wiring is cut off? Also the same for transformers that plug directly into the wall. I have stacks but it seems like too much time and mess for the small reward.

    Are the server cases considered Mixed Pressing Steel?

    • @eWasteBen
      @eWasteBen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's not high grade steel, usually 1/4in+ thick steel goes as heavy grade.

    You are lucky there here in the US the scrap yards are taking high end aluminum and marking it down and will not take some aluminum they don't want copper wire that has the insulation burnt off they dock almost everything. Heat sink from computers is almost not in price.

  • @zbaldure
    @zbaldure ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hi, what is the difference between cast aluminium and extruded aluminium?

    • @eWasteBen
      @eWasteBen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Extruded is a higher quality aluminium, cast is poured into a mold, extruded ia pressed through a mold, hard to explain.

    • @zbaldure
      @zbaldure ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eWasteBen hard to explain but easy to understand now that you explained it to me! Thank you for the answer, I've been following you for 5 years now and still enjoying every second of your videos, i've learnt so much, thank you!

    That yard is screwing you with those large extruded heat sinks. The standard for loading a connex for over sea shipment is to ship 6063 and 6061 under four feet by the Gaylord. Nobody bales extrusions under four feet. I really think they are lying to you. I get a premium on pieces that large at over $1.00 a pound US right now. They are making an insane margin if they are buying that as cast.
