The performance by the band solo is great. However, as soon as the vocal appears and starts singing, everyone gasps at her beauty and recognizes that she is the protagonist.❤

This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : )
It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage.
This song had it's world premiere the previous evening at Budokan Red Night.
The 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' instrumental often precedes 'Rondo of Nightmare', but not always.
This was the Black Night at Budokan in 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that.
Su sang three solo songs that night.
She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set.
Yui and Moa performed two songs together that night, without Su.
I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs made me a die hard fan.
Dancing on a small platform raised in the air demonstrates courage.
Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : )

    Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥
Thanks for coming back with this great suggestion.
As you can see this is not the usual happy BM song. It's one of the many songs composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), he's also behind Karate, Kagerou, the arrangements of Megitsune, Headbanger!! Night Of The 15 Mix (only the mix) and more new songs from latest album like Monochrome and Believing.
_"Akumu No Rondo"_ (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare.
Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity.
Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk".
The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou.
They're Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar.
This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart.
But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately.
Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with "Akatsuki" (live at Budokan 2014 is another great choice) The other solos are great too and those are:
    - No Rain No Rainbow live at Legend S 2017, heavily blocked thou.
    - Amore live at Wembley Arena 2016.
And of course the rest of the girls under "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, they're taking a break here while SuMetal is performing to come back later, so don't miss out on their other 4 songs too such:
    - "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react.
    - "Song 4" or "4 No Uta" live at Budokan 2014.
    - "GJ!" live at Wembley Arena 2016
    - "Sis Anger" live at Tokyo Dome 2016".
Next suggestion to come back with the happy vibes:
    - YAVA! with Kami Band intro live at Fox Festival 2017
    See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

    Niiice one, thanks!
Yes I enjoyed the video because you are (or were) skeptical just like me before getting into this, and I'm very picky about music.
Now I'm in Japan to see them live here in one of their big format productions next Saturday (and Sunday). I never ever expected something like this. 😁

Great reaction. The fact that you have enjoyed all the BABYMETAL songs you've seen/heard so far and liked most of them ... I would say that is a positive result. Even with your favourite bands I doubt you like every one of their songs.
The Kami Band intro here, as you know, is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). It is not on the album as the Kami Band only play live shows, so this intro is theirs. They were pretty much summoning Su-metal up from ... below the stage I suppose.😁
There can't be many 16 year olds who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did.
'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly their darkest song lyrically. As I understand it, rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her.
This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (possibly the most prestigious venue in Japan - it is the place all Japanese artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there. They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘
They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.

Rondo of Nightmare stands on its own with or without the Kami band intro imo. You also have to know - early on - Babymetal was getting quite alot of attention with a number of 1st CD Singles Releases back in 2010, & became an independent "band" label in 2013, releasing their 1st independent album in 2014 (no longer a co-op, song, dance, group affiliated with their former Sakura Gakuin group members.).

Love this version of Rondo of Nightmare. Just dark and epic, and the Kami Band just rips as always.
    Kami Band Intros:
*Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014)*
    *Yava! (Fox Festivals 2017)*
    *Awadama Fever (Fox Festivals 2017)*
*Kagerou (Legend Metal Galaxy 2020):* Kami Band West.
*Metali (Fan Cams, On Tour, 2023):* Kami Band West.
    Band Highlights:
    *Akatsuki (Budokan 2014)*
*Amore (Wembley 2016):* Use Babymetal Reactor Resource for Copyright.
*Tales of the Destinies (Tokyo Dome 2016):* Not a true “highlight”, but their most technical and prog-metal song. Literally the band showing off their skill. I can’t believe the girls danced to that as well…

Great to see you enjoying BM and the Kamis. You only get instrumental intros in some live performances and here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (6 string bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (7 string gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. Maybe next listen to another one of their prog metal songs, "Tales of the Destinies at the Tokyo Dome".
RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution:
    It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind.
A nightmare rondo is being repeated.
    The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight.
I can do nothing but fall
    into the darkness.
Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends.

I am sure you like the older stuff compared to the new pop synth stuff. This song hasn't been performed since 2017 and that same year they took away Kami solos. In 2019 they added the ridiculous masks. Also the East Kamis have not played for Babymetal since January 2023. They have been using the West Kamis (American musicians) since and they allow them to do solos, but they are much weaker than the East solos.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This is one of the songs that I am longing for the revival by New BABYMETAL. "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.

Even without the intro this is the best version of this song, the studio and other performances just seem to be missing something to me, maybe like it is a bit hollow sounding if that makes any sense

Great reaction to an unusual but amazing song! For me this is about repetitive nightmares girls in particular seem to get (own opinion only) - and is just perfect. BM songs are nearly always greatly enhanced with the intros they often have (and unfortunately often cut out in "official" releases). I like the West kami band but got to say overall I preferred the Eastern - I REALLY miss them and their interaction.

I think your statement about the intro setting the feel for the song is why Babymetal will always be a live experience first and foremost. I notice a lot of bands and their music is composed with the intention of making it sound good as a studio track while maintaining believability of it being performed live. But with Babymetal, it’s all about live production first, with the studio music just being more of a blue print for fans to follow.
