Richie (Russell Crowe) and his men raid the heroin lab, making some key arrests.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Ridley Scott spins this yarn concerning a Harlem drug kingpin (Denzel Washington) who smuggles heroin into the country by hiding it in the bodies of U.S. soldiers killed during battle in Vietnam. There was a time when no one noticed reserved driver Frank Lucas (Washington), but when the criminal kingpin he was charged with transporting through the city streets suddenly dies, Lucas seizes the opportunity to build his own criminal empire. In the following months, Lucas solidifies his status as Harlem's most innovative drug dealer by delivering a product that is purer than the competitors' and cheaper, as well. When innovative businessman Lukas attempts to go semi-legit by becoming one of the Manhattan borough's biggest civil supporters, however, street-savvy outcast cop Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe) begins to sense a sizable shift in the hierarchy of the drug underworld. But Roberts is one of the few honest detectives operating within a corrupt system, and as he sets out to investigate the case, crooked detective Trupo (Josh Brolin) does everything in his power to compromise the integrity of his idealistic counterpart. Upon clearing all of the usual Mafia-connected suspects, Roberts begins to believe that a previously unknown black power player has come out of the woodwork to dominate the local drug trade. While Roberts and Lucas may be operating on opposite sides of the law, the one thing that both men have in common is a strict code of ethics that separates them from their opportunistic colleagues. Yep. I was slightly let down at first because I was BEYOND hyped for this before it came out. I was a huge movie buff still back then and when I saw the cast, trailers and clips I couldn't contain my hype. I do that sometimes and nothing lives up to expectations. However the second and third viewing, and so on, made me realize just how good it was. A classic imo

I love how this scene shows the lack of intelligence and gun skill of the drug labs henchmen. They pretty much just took a bunch of random people from the hood and projects, then gave them guns to use, lol... You'd think his henchmen protecting the merchandise would be WAY better considering how rich and powerful Frank's organization was at this point in the movie, lol...

But in real life, the deaths of Philando Castile, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, etc. and the travesty of the local judicial system to convict the cops of manslaughter/negligent homicide make it very very very difficult to do so, and this is coming from someone with family and friends on the force.

A pump-action removes a spent shell and racks a fresh one from the magazine. Our main character is seen pumping it at least one too many times. You could handwave it as stress, but it's really just a hollywood convention to constantly pump a shotgun for no reason, just like hollywood thinks all guns make a clicking sound when you raise them.
