These returns were from 1969 to 1995. His returns got lower as his fund increased in size. I thought it wiser to focus on the period where he started with smaller amounts and made higher returns.
Soros often bet his entire fund, yes, and even more-so with leverage, but his actual risk of his principal was much much lower. Moreover, if his bets were incorrect, and the fund took a hit, they would retrench and take more conservative bets. Point being, he didn’t risk 30% of his funds principal, probably more like 2%, all investors with his level of success are excellent risk managers, and know the amount of leverage to use.
Interesting. 35% per year is the same return that the Everest Formula strategy achieved from 1999 till now. Maybe they share the same value investing strategy behind?

David Tepper, Warren Buffett and his successors (they were the ones convincing to go "all-in" in Apple) -> these are geniuses in the field of finance. They have an innate talent most of us don't have and never will have.
His strategies were simple: insider trading, connections with financial cabal.

You left out anything on derivatives. Without an understanding of derivatives and the enormous leverage one can get with them you miss his major source of income. You focus way too much on direction as well.
