    Great tour, we're stoked to work with you guys and always look forward to your videos.
    Just to respond to caravan weights you mentioned. I believe your van is 3200kg ATM, aggregate trailer mass. The caravan is designed for 9-10% weight on drawbar so that 3200 + 300 kg gives 3500kg GTM. Bit more payload than mentioned but always be mindful of the GCM (total combined mass of ute and caravan) 👍

    New to your channel and loved the recent hoar frost video. Have gone back to the beginning to catch up with your adventures. We may find it elsewhere but were curious about your current power issues when winter camping. This video mentions 2 100 amp hour batteries but you did not mention whether they were AGM or lithium. Keen to known. We have 300 solar and 150 amp hour lithium with a 2600 w inverter and so far no problems but haven't been out in winter much. We own a Dethleff but are interested in a Nextgen. Will carry on viewing. Love your honesty. Hope to bump into you on your travels.

      hey team, our batteries are AGM, they are in good health, but seems there is something drawing off of them in the night which we aren't sure what it is. If we turn the 12v system off all is well and our battery current stays high, even with the heater running all night, but if we leave it on, it's at 12v by morning which is basically flat... We aren't using our inverter currently, due to low solar, but our Ecoflow is doing us well, which is portable power and solar charged... Aussie caravans aren't to well insutlated for winter, for you INfo..

      Yea, The bunks are amazing, especially that they have a cupboard at the end of it, which holds heaps of stuff if your a kid. So many Caravans, you need to turn the seating into a bed in the evening, we love that we don't have to do that... Everyone has their own space, even if it's just a bed, that only you get lay in.

    Omg we have been waiting for this one!! Looks amazing, we are choosing colours at the mo. Questions? Did you ask about the cupboards at the end of the bunk. Might email them about dimensions. We love that idea. My son is the same size as me 11 ys-165cm. Also the plug so you can have fridge on (12 pin) also the Anderson plug, did you ask for that as well or is that standard. We have chosen similar colours inside and out but choose blue outside. Looks amazing!! Awesome.

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a conversation about the end of the bunks, cause the beds would be way to long. Turns out Cupboards are an awesome option... I would recommend. Bunks are atleast 6ft. Caravan comes wired for 12 pin. You can change to 7 pin, but won't be able to run the fridge when driving. Pretty easy to change this, so I believe. We love it. Your gonna love it... Taking it your getting the Karikari???

      @@leopardsgowild thanks for the reply!! Yes we have ordered a Karikari from the Live they had last year but you had some awesome ideas with cupboards and pins. Thanks for the tips. We are sooo excited but due to COVID not sure if we will get it before July. Cross our fingers.

    • @insideoutrv
      @insideoutrv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our family used a Karikari for a bit over summer, we reckon open shelves at the end of the bunk with small crates works well. Andersen plug is standard, 12 pin plug is standard and recommended with 'standard' 3 way fridge. You can change to 7 pin plug no charge, good idea if you go with a compressor fridge as you then dont need any of the large pins. All that will be gone through thoroughly when it comes to sign off time. Theres no point doing sign off too early as we can only submit it when it gets closer to the build process. Appreciate your patience 👍

    Great review! thanks so much! Apart from the Maori names have the Aussies adapted these to better suit NZ weather conditions? I expect it gets a lot wetter, windier and colder here. Can some of those wall cabinets above windows be removed and window enlarged so you don't need to crouch or sit to see out? I think it would make it feel extra spacious also.

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey We love the big windows from our old retro, but thata had limited space. These Caravans are made to be off the grid for a couple of weeks without getting to a shop, hence all the storage. I Imagine it wouldn't be a problem to leave a side or both without top cupboards and get larger windows, I think just enquire with insideoutRV. Australia does get similar weather to us, in the south you get snow in the mountains, and lots of frosts and you get a lot of tropical storms in the north. I Don't think the Australia ones come with heaters, like ours do, but they do come with air conditioning, that will run off mains power only, unless you have a massive Battery system.

  • @619jni
    @619jni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How long will the battery last off-grid without a generator?

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got 3 solar panels on the roof which keeps the batteries pretty much constantly full, that will prob change in winter. Can charge the caravan batteries when connected to the truck if we did get low

    But this model you show seems interesting

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, I'm not sure the cost now, it was $111,000 when we started our journey of buying, back in May 2021... costs have gone up I believe. We really like this layout though, having the 2 separate sleeping spaces... We really like the family support you get from Jared and Sarah the owners as well, they seem 10x more invested in their product and care then some of the reviews I've seen from bigger outfits... We are going full time so we wanted to know if we needed help we'll have it. Even if we are in the south island. It was a really hard and stressful decision though, we almost went with snowy river as might be worth checking out, their caravans are 1 piece walls though and have some condensation issues... I think we have a Playlist of our buying a new Caravan with some other info. Keep us posted with your plans and feel free to message us on here or Facebook if you have other questions. Cheers Mike.

      Yea I like how yours is setup especially the privacy of the mum and dad’s room
      So our choices are
      1: KariKari triple bunk van
      2: Marvel golden child 22’6 quad bunk van
      3: Royal flair family flair van
      4: jayco journey 22.68 triple bunk
      2 and 3 are Australia made companies
      Which will cost more too ship them over
      Still looking and investigating which is best for us a family of 5 we will begin testing before we buy aswel
      How is your van going now any problems so far?

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@P0RKYG I really loved the Royal flair ones... The other consideration to make is weights... Legally you can only be at 6 tonne total weight unless you got a bigger truck and commercial license, most of these caravans are coming in around 3 tonne, vehicle 2 tonne, and then people and gear a lot of people are over the 6 tonne limit so something to think about as well and what the vehicles total pull capacity is. Our Hilux I think is like 5,870kg, The Ford rangers go the full 6 tonne.

    • @P0RKYG
      @P0RKYG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the family flair van has a bigger lounge space for the whole family and can accommodate 8 people but comfortably family of 5
      Thanks for the weight advice I was looking at that too I have commercial license
      I’m not looking for a van just for holidays we also will be living full time
      I feel karikari would be perfect helping local companies will be waiting for updates on your journey and how things are going on your van
      Cheers
